(Minghui.org) Minghui has received copies of over 180,000 criminal complaints that have been filed against former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin since May of this year. The complaints have been filed by Falun Gong practitioners, charging Jiang with abuse of power and crimes of genocide and torture over the course of the 16-year persecution of Falun Gong. Jiang launched the ongoing persecution of Falun Gong in 1999.
Mr. Lou Yuejun and his wife Ms. Bian Aina, residents of Yingkou City, Liaoning Province, are among those who submitted a complaint. However, the couple's complaint never reached the Supreme People's Court because it was illegally confiscated by local law enforcement agents.
Mr. Lou and Ms. Bian were arrested at home on August 10, 2015 by officers from the local police department. Their home was ransacked, and their Falun Gong literature, computers and 7,000 yuan in cash were seized. The reason for the arrest? For filing a lawsuit against Jiang – even though doing so is legal, and a citizen's right, under Chinese law.
Ms. Bian is detained at the Yingkou Detention Center and Mr. Lou at the Bayuquan Detention Center. Their family received a three-month detention notice and another notice stating that the couple will be sentenced after the three months.
When the family asked why the couple was arrested, the police said that it was because they practice Falun Gong. The family pointed out that the arrests were illegal, to which Hui Huaiqi of the Bayuquan Police Station replied that they can appeal the arrest.
Family members have not been allowed to visit Ms. Bian or Mr. Lou. So far we know that at Ms. Bian has pleaded not guilty, and the family has hired lawyers to defend them.
Mr. Lou and Ms. Bian, both in their 40s, practice Falun Gong and follow its guiding principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Mr. Lou is a construction worker. Ms. Bian's mother and two sisters are also Falun Gong practitioners.
Both husband and wife have been arrested and sentenced in the past for upholding their belief in Falun Gong.
Mr. Lou was arrested in 2000 by the Bayuquan Domestic Security Division, under director Wang Hongkui. He was beaten, interrogated, and tortured with electric batons. He was sentenced to five years in prison.
Ms. Bian was arrested in 2003. She was detained for two years at the Oroqen Autonomous Banner Detention Center in Inner Mongolia and for another three years at the Hohhot Women's Labor Camp.
