Explaining a Cultivator's Actions to a Non-Cultivator

October 12, 2015 |   By Lingzi

(Minghui.org) “What's the use of practicing Falun Dafa? My friend's mother has practiced Dafa for many years, yet she badmouthed her daughter-in-law when I rode with her in a car,” said a friend.

I thought for a while before I was ready to respond. I pointed to a drink on the table and said, “Let's say that both of us want to have this drink today, but only one of us can drink it, so we might get into a fight.”

Then, I explained further, “There is a difference between a cultivator and a non-cultivator. After this incident, I, as a cultivator will look within to find out why I acted in a way that was inconsistent with the cultivation principles. I would wonder why I fought over a drink. I'll make sure that such an incident won't happen again. I must not fight with others, because as a cultivator I have to be considerate of others' feelings.”

For him to understand the point I made, I explained that practitioners regret their wrong actions, look within for shortcomings and try to do better in the future.

However that does not mean that one will never make the same mistake again. One will continue to look within and overcome one's shortcomings. This is what cultivation is all about.
