(Minghui.org) In Huangshi City, Hubei Providence, 261 Falun Gong practitioners have filed criminal complaints against Jiang Zemin since the end of May, according to reports compiled by the Minghui website.
The practitioners charge the former Chinese dictator with initiating the brutal suppression of Falun Gong and hold him responsible for the tremendous suffering inflicted upon them by his campaign. The criminal complaints were mailed to the Supreme People's Court and Supreme People's Procuratorate.
Many of these practitioners recounted how Falun Gong returned them to health and gave them a new outlook on life. Their dream to live a healthier and happier life, however, was shattered when Jiang launched a nationwide campaign to eradicate the practice in 1999.
Simply for refusing to give up their belief, they were arrested, detained, tortured, and had their homes ransacked and personal belongings seized by the communist authorities. Many also saw their families implicated for their belief, while some were also forced to pay huge fines.
Some of the lawsuits against Jiang from Huangshi City were filed by their family because the practitioners either were tortured to death or are still in prison.
Below, we profile the cases of several practitioners.
Mr. Song Wanxue worked at Fengjiashan's Copper Mine Factory. He went to Beijing twice to petition the central government to stop the persecution of Falun Gong. When he returned from Beijing the second time, police and guards from the security section of his workplace arrested him on January 20, 2001. Authorities told his family that they would receive an urn of his ashes.
Three days after his arrest, Mr. Song died from torture at the age of 45. His heart, liver, and kidneys were removed. The authorities claimed that they had sent the organs to Wuhan, the capital of Hebei Province, for inspection. His family asked for the return of Mr. Song's body parts, but never received a response.
Police would not allow his wife a last viewing before the cremation. In August 2015, Mr. Song's wife filed a criminal complaint against Jiang on behalf of her husband.
Mr. Luo Wen, 47, worked at the Huangshi Railroad Bureau. He was arrested, detained, and sentenced multiple times for practicing Falun Gong. Police broke into his home and seized his personal property when no one was at home.
During one detention, Mr. Luo was tortured so badly that he lost his hearing and could not straighten his back. Eight of his teeth were broken.
For a period of time, he was forced to move to another city to avoid the persecution. Police tracked him down, arrested him again, and took him back to Huangshi City in July 2001. A court secretly sentenced Mr. Luo to seven years in prison and did not inform his family of the decision.
When Mr. Luo's family learned of the sentence, they asked an attorney to appeal the case to the intermediate court, which refused to accept the appeal. Mr. Luo is still detained in Shayang Prison. His wife filed a criminal complaint against Jiang Zemin on her husband's behalf.
Ms. Cai Guixiang, 53, was held in a forced labor camp for two years. She was deprived of sleep, closely monitored 24 hours a day by drug abusers, not allowed to speak with others, forced to do hard labor, subjected to physical punishment, and made to pay frequent fines. She lost more than 40 pounds during two years of detention. Her hair almost completely turned white.
Mr. Du Daxing, 80, a retired engineer from Huangshi City, was arrested three times. After his first arrest, more than 20 officers took turns interrogating him. After his second arrest, he was detained for one month and forced to pay a detention fee. On his third arrest, he was taken to a brainwashing center.
Ms. Liu Xiaolian, 69, a retired worker, was handcuffed behind her back and shackled for 45 days in the summer during 45C (113F) temperatures. Her flesh burned under the metal cuffs. After she was released from the cuffs and shackles, she lost all feeling in her hands and feet for several days. “My hands were swollen like steamed buns, and my arms were as thick as my calves.” The scars on her wrists are still visible.
In addition to above practitioners, the following have also filed their criminal complaints:
Mr. Dong Xiangping (董相平), 72, farmerMs. Feng Yuangui (冯元桂), 51Mr. Gui Lixin (桂立新), massage doctorMs. Yu Juying (喻菊英), 74
In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.
The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners in the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.
Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.
Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
