(Minghui.org) In 1994 I found the book Falun Gong in a bookstore that I frequently visited in my spare time while working at a university. I read the book every day, and found every sentence to have profound meaning. I came to realize that Falun Gong was the greatest cultivation practice, and a path to true enlightenment.
The Healing Power of Falun Gong
I began to cultivate my heart and mind by following Falun Gong's principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, and I soon reached a state of being illness-free. I have not taken a pill since then.
Before practicing Falun Gong, I was plagued with blurred vision, a duodenal ulcer, and chronic atrophic gastritis. Doctors told me that my chronic atrophic gastritis could progress into cancer. I then developed severe depression, along with constant stomach pain, and I was dependent on daily medication to ease the pain for decades.
After I embarked on my journey of Falun Gong cultivation practice, I began to experience the body purification process described in Zhuan Falun. I had severe diarrhea and even discharged pus and blood. From then on I was able eat anything, including cold foods, which was impossible before.
My vision has been dramatically recovered. I threw away my glasses, as I can see even see small print clearly. Even the corns on the bottom of my feet disappeared and I now walk with ease. I also no longer have to wear a hat in winter, and my face is rosy all the time. How wonderful and grateful I feel to be completely illness-free!
Standing Up for Falun Gong
As a Falun Gong practitioner, I knew it was my responsibility to clear away the lies about Falun Gong spread by the Chinese government, and tell others what Falun Gong really is. At the very beginning I had fear. I decided to recite Master’s verse ‘What's There to Fear’ from Hong Yin Vol. II many times each day.
I started by telling my relatives and friends at home about Falun Gong, followed by the shop assistants. I'm now able to talk to people on the street or on public transportation. I try to keep myself calm, study the Fa more often, and send strong righteous thoughts. I have found that the results are much better if I explain things to people with a heart of compassion and peace.
My Brother Rescued from Terminal Cancer
My brother was diagnosed with late-stage liver cancer in 2005. The provincial Cancer Hospital refused to admit him, and advised him to be treated at home. My wife urged me to visit my brother right away and offer him some money as support.
When I was face to face with my brother, I handed him some money and asked him about his plans. He shook his head in despair. I told him that there was a way he could heal the disease—by practicing Falun Gong.
I explained that since I started practicing Falun Gong in 1994, my severe duodenal ulcer and chronic gastritis had disappeared. I was four years older than him and was enjoying good health.
My brother agreed that he should learn Falun Gong. Actually I had given him a copy of Zhuan Falun a long time prior, but he dared not learn it at that time because he was a director and Party secretary in a government department.
I told him that he should quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). For years the CCP’s media spread rumors about Falun Gong. Moreover, the Party has caused more than 80 million deaths of Chinese people. I further explained that the CCP will be eliminated by heaven for its crimes, and that those who joined the CCP should renounce it to avoid sharing in its fate. My brother agreed.
His liver cancer disappeared soon after he began practicing Falun Gong. This miracle happened in 2005, and the cancer has never returned. My brother is still in good health.
Skeptical Relative Begins to Believe
A relative of mine once had a motorcycle accident, and had blood all over his face. I made him an amulet, with an inscription that read, “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.” I asked him to keep it with him for protection. He hesitated, and told that he was an atheist and did not believe in such things.
But I insisted that he put the amulet in his pocket, as at least it would not hurt. I also asked him to quit the Communist Young Pioneers, and he agreed.
A few months later, he told me that he believed that the amulet had protected him during an accident that occurred recently. He ran into a cliff while driving his motorcycle. The motorcycle was severely damaged, but he was not hurt at all.
Wayward Teenager Returns to Seeking Goodness
I have a nephew who was a high school student. He was troublemaker, always came to school late and left early. He was addicted to smoking, drinking, and gang-fighting, etc. Even his teachers were afraid of him.
One day, I gave him the book Zhuan Falun as a gift. After finishing the book, he said to me, ‘Uncle, now I know that I have done wrong. I am too far away from Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.”
He continued, “When I was little at grandma’s house, I lay down on the grass one day, looking at the sky. I saw Goddess of Mercy and Buddha. Now I see that I need to change. I want to practice Falun Gong.”
Turnaround of a Drug User in a Labor Camp
I was jailed in a labor camp for my belief in Falun Gong. The guards sent a guy to watch me, and we had to share a single bed. He was an alcoholic. One day he threw up on our bed, then on the floor. No one came to his aid. I started to clean up for him while other people were watching.
At that moment a drug user, who was also supposed to monitor me, said to me, “We were all told that you are a dangerous person. But it is so not true.”
One day this drug user asked me to recite Falun Gong teachings, and I recited the first section of Zhuan Falun. When I finished, he asked if I could do it again at a slower speed, because he wanted to write down every word in a notebook. After I recited it again, he excitedly told me, “I feel so refreshed. It feels like I have changed into a completely new person with a different view of the world.”
Conclusion
When I first took up Falun Gong, the only thing on my mind was how to make achievements for myself, which was selfish, and a characteristic of the old universe. However, I genuinely elevated through studying Fa, helping others learn the truth about Falun Gong, sending righteous thoughts, and reading the Minghui website. I learned to put others before myself so as to be assimilated to the characteristics of a new universe. I deeply cherish this rare opportunity.
