(Minghui) Ms. Luo Xizhen, a resident of Tonghua City, Jilin Province, was arrested again on June 26, 2014, four years after she finished an illegal three-year prison sentence. The local police refused to reveal her whereabouts when questioned by her family two days later. Her loved ones are determined to secure her release.
Ms. Luo was snatched by a plainclothes officer around 2 p.m. on June 26 when she offered to give him some Shen Yun DVDs to watch.
Two hours later, a former roommate of Ms. Luo's received a phone call from Guangming Police Station asking about her situation. In the meantime, a few plainclothes officers showed up at her workplace to make inquiries about her.
The police reluctantly presented their IDs when pressed by Ms. Luo's boss. They claimed that she was injured in a fight, and they came to investigate who she had contact with. Her boss responded that she was a kind person and never had any enemies. He offered some money for her hospital treatment, but the police declined and quickly left.
Around six that evening, the police drove Ms. Luo home to ransack it. During the whole process, her hands were cuffed behind her back, and her head pressed down. She could barely talk in that posture.
When questioned by the police, her neighbors pointed out that she was a good person and did not have any suspicious associates. The police were not satisfied and returned the next morning to harass her neighbors, but they did not disclose anything further.
When Ms. Luo's family went to Longquan Police Station on June 28 to inquire about her detention place, the police claimed that they were not in charge of Falun Gong cases, and refused to tell the family who to talk to.
Ms. Luo had been illegally arrested and detained four times in the past decade after the Chinese Communist Party began the persecution against Falun Gong on July 20, 1999. In particular, she was illegally sentenced to two years of forced labor at Heizuizi Women’s Forced Labor Camp on March 16, 2003. By the time she was released, she had lost almost half of her body weight.
Ms. Luo was arrested again by agents from Qinghe Police Station while talking to people about Falun Gong on Qinghe Street on April 3, 2007. She was later sentenced by Ji'an City Court to three years in prison, where her fingers became permanently deformed due to the torture she suffered. She wasn't released until April 2, 2010.
Unable to bear endless police harassment, her husband divorced her. Heartbroken, her 83-year-old mother cried constantly and she is now nearly blind in both eyes.
