October 14, 2014 |   By a Minghui correspondent from Baoding, Hebei Province, China

(Minghui.org) Two Falun Gong practitioners in their 60s were arrested two days before a recent national triathlon that took place in Wu'an, Hebei. Both women were brutally beaten for more than an hour. One of them suffered severe brain hemorrhaging and remains in a coma at a local hospital.

The two practitioners were stopped and interrogated on their way back home on the evening of October 9, 2014 by police officers and staff from Huoshui village government. Believing that they were distributing Falun Gong materials, the police illegally arrestedthem and took them to Huoshui Police Station.

The police beat and interrogated the practitioners starting around 11 p.m. for more than an hour. Ms. Shi Yulan (石玉兰) lost consciousness at around midnight after suffering brain hemorrhaging due to the beating.

The police didn't send Ms. Shi to the hospital until 6 a.m. the next morning, where she ended up in the intensive care unit. According to the doctor, the delay in her receiving medical treatment worsened her situation. She underwent brain surgery at 1 p.m. that afternoon. She remains unconscious and in critical condition in ICU.

Ms. Liu Kaofeng (刘考凤), the other practitioner who was arrested, remains at the police station, where the police are denying visitation.
