(Minghui.org) Four women were recently illegally detained in Dayi County, Sichuan Province, for handing out materials related to Falun Gong.

Ms. Yu Shaoping, 55, a teacher at the Beijie Elementary School, was sentenced to three years in prison in December 2013. A security guard reported her talking to an older man about Falun Gong and giving him a talisman. The school administration ordered its security guards to monitor her because she practiced Falun Gong.

Ms. Gong Shulian, in her 50s, was sentenced to three years and six months in prison on September 5, 2014. She was arrested for distributing Falun Gong informational materials in November 2013.

Ms. Gong Zhenqiong, in her 60s, is being held at the Dayi County Detention Center. Ms. Gong was arrested for distributing Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs, which includes Falun Gong related content. The police ransacked her home on June 4, 2014.

Ms. Lin Jiuliang, around 60, was also arrested for distributing Shen Yun DVDs on July 14, 2014. She was detained for 12 days.

Procuratorate Ignores Legal Process

The procuratorate pressed charges against Ms. Gong Zhenqiong the same day that the police filed the case. Ms. Gong's lawyer said the procuratorate did not follow the required Chinese legal procedures. The procuratorate should investigate the charges for at least one month before pressing charges.

Ms. Gong's lawyer was not able to read her case file, as the court said the case was not filed yet. After the lawyer left, the staff from the township government and village put pressure on Ms. Gong's family to fire their lawyer.
