(Minghui.org) Officers from the Jilin City Police Department arrested a chain deli store owner, Mr. Zhu Yujun, and his employees on October 18, 2013. The police are now trying to fabricate charges against him. His family has hired a lawyer for him.

Background

Mr. Zhu is the owner of the chain of stores called Wuhan Duck-Neck Deli and a former prosecutor with the Procuratorate of Forest Affairs of Shulan City in Jilin Province. He was once recognized as “an honest and intelligent young man with a promising future.” Since the Chinese communist regime began persecuting Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, he has been arrested many times.

Sentenced to Forced Labor Twice

When Mr. Zhu went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong in December 1999, he was arrested and sentenced to a year of forced labor. His employer also fired him from his job as a procurator.

Mr. Zhu was arrested again on October 10, 2003. Officers from the Forestry Administration of Shulan City, the local 610 Office, and the Shulan Police Department conspired to trick him by “giving” him back his former job. The next day, however, the police arrested him at work and took him to a detention center.

He was later sentenced to forced labor and transferred to Jiutai Forced Labor Camp in Jilin City. There, he was closely monitored by four criminal inmates and tortured in all kinds ways including sleep deprivation.

After Mr. Zhu was released from the labor camp, he had to leave home to avoid further persecution.

Practitioners and Non-practitioners Arrested

To make ends meet, Mr. Zhu and his wife eventually opened a deli called Wuhan Duck-Neck Deli. He conducted his business according to the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and gained the trust of his customers and employees. His business became so successful that he opened up more locations in other areas.

Officers from the Jilin City Police Department, the Jilin City Domestic Security Division, and the domestic security divisions in the Chuanying, Changyi, Fengman, and Longtan Districts conducted a mass arrest of practitioners on October 17 and 18, 2013. More than 30 practitioners were arrested, including Mr. Zhu, his 5-year-old daughter, and every employee in his restaurant. Mr. Zhu's employees from all of his deli locations in Jilin City were also arrested.

More than 20 practitioners, including Mr. Zhu, Mr. Liu Bing, and Ms. Deng Xiaobo, were taken to the Jilin City Detention Center after being held at the notorious Shahezi Brainwashing Center for over 10 days.

Currently, officials from the Jilin City Political and Legal Affairs Committee, 610 Office, and Police Department are trying to convict Mr. Zhu and his branch managers on charges of “committing a gang crime.”

Family Told to Wait for Trial

Mr. Zhu's mother and his relatives went to the Huangqi Police Station to request his immediate release on December 2, 2013, but were told that they weren't in charge of his case.

The family then went to talk to the head of the Domestic Security Division of the Jilin City Police Department who had arrested Mr. Zhu. The clerks tried to keep them from seeing him by claiming that he was in a meeting. However, he showed up in the reception area. His family then told him the facts about Falun Gong and that only the Chinese authorities persecute the practice, while it is freely practiced in other countries.

The head of the division said, “Zhu has made many materials promoting Falun Gong. This goes against the Party, so we arrested him.” They replied, “He made all of the truth-clarification materials to save people. He is an honorable man who is highly regarded at work and takes good care of his parents. Jiang Zemin has been sued around the world for initiating the persecution of Falun Gong. Even those who masterminded the persecution can't secure their own futures. Who do you think will guarantee your safety in the future? For you own sake, please stop persecuting practitioners.”

Mr. Zhu's family members were finally told that his case was being investigated by the court and that they would soon be informed of his trial.
