Weifang City Officials Arrest Falun Gong Practitioners to Extort Money from Them (Photos)

(Minghui.org) Weifang 610 Office agents and city officials in charge of the Weifang Brainwashing Center (a.k.a. Kuiwen District Party School) have compiled a list of Falun Gong practitioners, which they have used to arrest practitioners and extort money from them.

Whenever these officials want to get some extra cash, they look at the list and illegally arrest a few practitioners—as if ordering from a menu.

The list includes the names of practitioners who had gone to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong, as well as other names collected by the local Domestic Security Division over the 14-year persecution.

A copy of the list has been retained at the Weifang Police Department, local police stations, and brainwash centers.

Usually, under the orders of the 610 office, Domestic Security Division officers would carry out the arrests. After that, officials in charge of the brainwashing center would detain the practitioners, extort money from them and force them to attend “propaganda classes.”

During these brainwashing sessions, the head of the local 610 Office would come in and intimidate the imprisoned practitioners. Officials would then coerce them into giving them more money.

Officials have threatened practitioners and their families not to disclose to others how much money they were forced to hand over. If a practitioner chose not to cooperate with them, he or she would be detained for a longer period of time or sent to a forced labor camp.
