(Minghui.org) Mr. Liu Wei, a practitioner in Nong'an County, Jilin Province, was tortured during interrogation after he was arrested on November 2, 2012.
On the evening of November 2, 2012, a dozen officers from the Fifth Criminal Police Team of the Nong'an County Police Department and the Domestic Security Division broke into and ransacked Mr. Liu's home. They took Mr. Liu to an interrogation room in the Fifth Criminal Police Team. They made him sit on an iron chair, handcuffed his hands behind him, fastened his legs, and then interrogated him.
Mr. Liu kept clarifying the truth to them. The officers got angry, hit his lower legs with a pick handle, and questioned him about other counties. Mr. Liu did not provide them with any information. They stripped off all of his clothes except his underwear and opened all the doors and windows. Wearing long winter coats and drinking hot tea, the officers poured cold water on Mr. Liu. They turned on an electric fan and directed it at him. Once he was dry, they again poured cold water on him. They also sprinkled water on him and beat him with wet towels.
The four officers found another way to torture Mr. Liu. They propped a club against his chest and put a pick handle against his back between his shoulder blades. They pushed the handle upwards towards the back of his neck several times until he almost suffocated. They tortured him till 5:00 a.m. the next morning.
The officers involved were Tang Ke, chief of the Domestic Security Division; an officer with police ID# 140604; and the other two officers whose names are unknown. They took Mr. Liu barefoot to a detention center at 10:00 p.m. the following evening.
At 9:00 a.m. on November 6, 2012, officers interrogated Mr. Liu and practitioner Ms. Zhang Guozhen in the detention center. The interrogations ended at 7:00 p.m. The practitioners were dragged back to their cells because they were not able to stand up.
All the other inmates were shocked when Mr. Liu was dragged into the cell. His whole face was blue and swollen. His calves were bigger than his thighs. From his knees to his toes, the tops of both his feet, toes, and soles were all black.
He was interrogated and beaten again two weeks later.
Ms. Zhang had injuries in her chest and legs as a result of the beating during the interrogation. She was not able to eat for several days. She was later admitted to a labor camp hospital for almost two months. After a bone was taken out of her leg she was sent back to the detention center on February 6, 2013.
