Rewarded for his work with the Harbin Railroad Procuratorate in 1998 and 1999, Mr. Liu was detained three times, sentenced to three years of forced labor, and taken to a brainwashing center twice after the persecution began. He died at 51, just days after his release from a brainwashing center.
