Health Regained

Prior to practicing Falun Gong, Ms. Jiang had a very strong personality and frequently complained about feeling cold. She avoided cold food and avoided cold places. Ms. Jiang took Chinese herbal medications and tried numerous traditional treatments but to no avail. Ms. Jiang started to practice Falun Gong in 1994 and followed the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. She regained her health and no longer needed to take medication.

Two Years of Savage Treatment in a Mental Hospital

In 1999, the Chinese regime started the nationwide persecution of Falun Gong. Employers and communities ordered employees and residents who practiced Falun Gong to write guarantee statements to denounce it. Ms. Jiang refused to lie. She spoke up for Falun Gong and explained that the videos on TV were staged. For speaking the truth, Ms. Jiang was sent by the Zhongyuan Oil Field 610 Office to a mental hospital. Han Qing from the Zhongyuan Oil Field 610 Office threatened Ms. Jiang's colleagues, ordering them to provide false evidence and claim that Ms. Jiang had a history of psychological problems. Ms. Jiang's employer called a companywide meeting and announced that Ms. Jiang was psychotic. She was sent to the Mental Hospital of the Hydroelectric Power Factory of Zhongyuan Oil Field.

In the mental hospital, Ms. Jiang refused to take the drugs they wanted her to. The Zhongyuan Oil Field 610 Office ordered physicians to force-feed them to her through a nasal gastric tube. Several people held her down during the procedure. When Ms. Jiang did not cooperate, she was shocked with electric batons until her skin blistered. She lost consciousness many times after having unknown drugs injected into her. Ms. Jiang told the physicians the truth about Falun Gong repeatedly. They "diagnosed" her with a severe psychological disorder and forced high doses of neurotoxic drugs on her daily.

Ms. Jiang was given anti-psychotic drugs for two years while also enduring the pain of being separated from her family and being fired from her job.

Disabled as a Result Torture in a Forced Labor Camp

In March 2005, chief Zhu Yanqun of the Domestic Security Team arrested Ms. Jiang at home. She was detained in the Puyang Detention Center and later sentenced to one-and-a-half years of forced labor.

In Zhengzhou Forced Labor Camp, Ms. Jiang witnessed the brutal torture the guards used on Falun Gong practitioners. She wrote a letter to the camp authorities calling for an end to such illegal activity. The guards locked Ms. Jiang in a cold, damp small cell: the floor she slept on was covered with a sheet of ice. Drug addicts where told to beat Ms. Jiang. They grabbed her hair and slammed her head against the wall; they beat and kicked her; they screamed, “We lose nothing by hitting Falun Gong people, we can even get our sentences reduced.” Such abuse left her disabled. She could not take care of herself and was unable to walk or squat.

After spending a year and a half in the labor camp, she went home with a limp and was mere skin and bones. Her husband could not endure her repeated incarcerations and divorced her.

Less than a year later, in October 2007, Ms. Jiang was arrested again by the Zhongyuan Oil Field Police Department. She was detained in the Puyang Detention Center and had to do over ten hours of slave labor every day. Ms. Jiang had an open wound on her thigh from her stay in the labor camp. It got infected in the detention center, and foul puss oozed out of it. Ms. Jiang was not released and later was sentenced to one-and-a-half years of forced labor. She was allowed to serve the sentence outside of the labor camp.

Three Years in Prison

On the night of May 17, 2009, Ms. Jiang was arrested again for putting up truth clarification posters. Her home was ransacked, and the police confiscated over 20,000 yuan, a computer, a printer, and other personal property. She was sentenced to three years in prison by the Hualong District Court in Puyang.

Ms. Jiang was sent to Xinxiang Prison. She went through brainwashing, was made to sit on a small stool for extensive periods of time, and endure other forms of physical and psychological torture. The torture and poor living conditions caused the chronic, unhealed wound on her left leg to reopen. She had difficulty walking and could not take care of herself. She was not released for medical attention until March 2012 after a tumor the size of a fist was found on the left side of her chest.

Ms. Jiang was taken to a hospital after she returned home. The diagnosis was cancer of the breast and bones. She was extremely feeble and her condition deteriorated. She had ascites, edema in her legs, and was unable to eat. She also had a hard time breathing. Ms. Jiang passed away on March 2, 2013.
