Mr. Qu Guangyi and His Wife Facing Illegal Court Trial in Changchun City

March 02, 2013 |   By a Minghui correspondent from Jilin Province, China

(Minghui.org) Mr. Qu Guangyi and his wife Ms. Gao Guibo from Changchun City are currently facing an illegal court trial, and their relatives are demanding their release from the No. 3 Detention Center in Changchun City.

Mr. Qu Guangyi was arrested in front of his home by personnel from the Erdao Police Department at 6:30 a.m. on September 13, 2012. They confiscated his house key from his pocket and then locked the door from outside. Ms. Gao Guibo was locked inside her home. When she tried to get to work at 7:10 a.m., she could not open the door, so she called her sister-in-law Ms. Qu Shuzhen to come over to open the door. At 7:30 a.m. Ms. Qu arrived, and before she could open the door, the personnel from the Erdao Police Department arrested both her and Ms. Gao Guibo. The police robbed 800 yuan from Ms. Qu's purse, claiming that those bills had words written on them.

After Ms. Qu was released on September 28, after two weeks of detention, she found that Mr. Qu's house was in a mess due to the police's search. A quick check revealed that all the valuables in the house were gone, including several bank deposit books, a computer and over 1000 yuan in cash.

Ms. Gao was taken to the No. 3 Detention Center in Changchun City on September 28, 2012, and on October 20, her family members received a phone call from the Erdao Police Department telling them to go there to get the arrest warrant issued by the Procuratorate. During this period, the couple was not allowed to see anyone, and their family members were not allowed to send in any everyday items to her, with the excuse that all the items could be purchased inside the detention center. It has been about five months since her arrest, and Mr. Qu and Ms. Gao's current situation is unknown.

On January 30, 2013 Mr. Qu and Ms. Gao entrusted the case handler of the court to notify their family to hire an attorney for the court trial scheduled around Chinese New Year's Day.

At present the “evidence” collected by personnel of the Erdao Police Department is a stamp which says “Falun Dafa is good” when they searched Mr. Qu's home. They claimed the words on the bills were stamped by Mr. Qu when they were done with printers, and Mr. Qu didn't have a printer at home. More importantly, these words and the stamp cannot serve as “evidence” since the Constitution guarantees the freedom of belief.

Mr. Qu was imprisoned in the labor camp twice, and Ms. Gao was imprisoned at the labor camp once. This time a colleague at Ms. Gao's workplace reported her and three other practitioners. The three practitioners have been released since then.
