My husband began practicing Falun Dafa in 1995. He brought home the book Zhuan Falun and read it whenever he had time. For some reason, I became very curious about this book. One day, I opened it and read it thoroughly, from cover to cover. I was deeply moved, and thought, "This is exactly what I've been looking for!" Thus in 1996 I also began practicing. My son also began practicing. Every day before and after work, I went to the park to do the exercises and study the Fa.
Validating the Fa and Saving Sentient Beings
The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) launched the persecution on July 20, 1999. All the media in China, which is run by the state, continually broadcast lies about the practice and ordered that Dafa books, as well as audio and video tapes, were to be destroyed and burned. My family wept. My son said, "Mom, look! They can't destroy our belief. We shouldn't listen to what they're saying on TV. Otherwise, those evil things will pollute our minds."
After that we stopped watching television. We knew that the CCP was illegally persecuting practitioners and committing unforgivable crimes. We joined the effort to distribute truth-clarification materials to tell people how the CCP was slandering Falun Gong. We reminded people that practitioners were not breaking any laws, and just seeking to become good people by acting according to the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
Although our peaceful cultivation environment was taken away, we still had Fa-study groups. There was one in my home, where every morning, fellow practitioners came to do the exercises and study the Fa. At night, we distributed truth-clarification materials.
The book, Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party was published in 2004. I immediately realized everyone should read it so they could understand what the true nature of the CCP. I got many copies of the book and distributed them on my way home from work. I talked to people face to face about the facts of Falun Gong, and helped them quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations.
Practitioners all around the world started to do the exercises together in 2007. I got up at 3:40 a.m every day, even when I felt very sleepy. I never slacked off in studying the Fa and saving people. As long as I went out to talk to people, the discomfort in my body disappeared. By looking inward and sending righteous thoughts, I soon felt better. I knew Master was helping me.
I started to distribute Shen Yun DVDs in 2007. Unfortunately, many people threw them aside. We practitioners had a discussion about this and decided to introduce the show to people face to face, and then give them the DVD. I joined this effort.
Before I left home, I asked Master to strengthen my righteous thoughts. I reminded myself to talk to people with compassion. I was very touched when people accepted the materials and thanked me. They were clearly waiting for me to save them.
We meet all types of people when talking to them face to face. Some are happy to listen, but others threaten to report you. Some wish to be friends with you and some share their hardships in life with you. Our minds should remain righteous, and we need to remember that we're there to save them. Regardless of whether they agree to quit the CCP or not, we need to be compassionate.
An Old Man's Remarkable Change
One day, I gave a Shen Yun DVD to an elderly man. I said, "Hi, how are you doing? I have a present for you. This is a top-level performance that showcases five-thousand years of classical Chinese civilization. It is not broadcast on any TV channel or sold anywhere." Without letting me finish, he became very upset and yelled, "This is related to Falun Gong, isn't it? How much are you getting paid for doing this?"
I replied, "I pay for these out of my savings and hand them out because I want people to know the truth." He shouted, "The truth? Why are you against the Party while it pays you?" I kept sending righteous thoughts and answered, "Sir, you have been deceived by the CCP. If you don't work for your boss, will he pay you? Aren't you making a living for yourself? Moreover, those corrupt Party officials pocket our taxes. It is we who are paying them!" Suddenly, many people came over and listened to us. Then he left. I handed out Shen Yun DVDs to everyone there.
A few days later, I met him again. "It's you again!" he yelled. "We must have a predestined relationship," I replied. In the beginning he was very rude and talked down to me. He kept talking over me and wouldn't let me say anything. I sent righteous thoughts to eliminate all the wicked beings that were controlling him. I smiled at him, "Sir, would you please let me say something?" He stopped talking.
"Falun Gong teaches people how to become good, and to be considerate of others. If everyone practiced Falun Gong, there wouldn't be so many corrupt government officials. Human morals would be revived and society would become stable. Wouldn't that be wonderful!" He didn't say a word. I said, "Please take this Shen Yun DVD and watch it at home. You'll be blessed." He took the DVD and said, "All right. I'll watch it at home."
A few days later, when I was distributing Shen Yun DVDs, I saw him again. "How come it's you again?" he asked. I said, "Have you watched the DVD?" He happily said, “Yes I did!” I then asked, “Did you like it?” He smiled and answered, "Absolutely!" His demeanor had completely changed.
Two Non-practitioners Defend Shen Yun
One day, I handed Shen Yun DVDs to two gentlemen, and they both happily accepted them. While I was telling them about quitting the CCP and its affiliated organizations someone hit my bike. A lady with an angry face had struck my bike and demanded to know, "Is this related to Falun Gong?"
I started to send righteous thoughts to eliminate all the wicked beings behind her so that she could learn the truth and be saved. I peacefully said, “Is there anything I can do for you?" She said, "We received that DVD last night." I said, "That's great! Have you watched it?" She shouted, "Watch it ? Don't you know it's forbidden? Why are you still distributing it?" I said, "It's not forbidden. It's a wonderful show! Out of jealousy the CCP persecutes Falun Gong. Practitioners aren't doing anything wrong and are just trying to be good people."
She asked, "How is the CCP bad? Why are you against it?" I said, "The CCP has killed eighty million innocent people through repeated rounds of political movements after it took power. Our taxes are stolen by it's officials and transferred overseas. Why isn't something done about it? Our food is poisoned but those officials have access to clean food." She argued, "The CCP has done some bad things, but it will change." I told her, "It's thoroughly evil and it will never change!"
The two gentlemen said, "Don't you want the DVD? If not, just give it back." She left quietly. I asked them, "Have you joined the CCP and its affiliated organizations?" They said, "We were in the Young Pioneers." I said, "Let me help you quit." They said, "No problem. We'll quit." I said to Master in my heart, "Thank you, Master! It is you that arranged this."
“You are an Angel from Heaven!”
My understanding is that the more deeply we study and understand the Fa, the more people we will be able to save. When we talk to people we can discuss topics from different perspectives or levels based on their ability to accept it. Some people may refuse to take the Shen Yun DVD, but we still need to be compassionate. Maybe they will understand the truth after we talk.
One day, I saw a lady waiting for the bus and said, “Would you like a Shen Yun DVD? It's free.” She said, “No.” I said, “Consider it a present. Are you really going to reject it? I'm here, offering you this amazing gift. We must have very strong predestined relationship.” She smiled and asked, “Is it really free? Then I'll take one.”
I walked up to a gentleman and said, “Hi, sir! I have a present for you. It's a world-class show.” “Oh, it's a show,” he said. “Yes. It showcases five-thousand years of Chinese civilization.” He introduced himself and said, “I'm a doctor and a Christian.”
I said, “Nowadays so many people don't believe in anything and their morals have declined dramatically.” “That's true, ” he replied. I continued, “It's because the CCP promotes atheism and persecutes Falun Gong practitioners. They are tortured in forced labor camps and prisons. Organs are being harvested from living Falun Gong practitioners and sold for profit. Have you heard of this?” He said, “No, but I know the CCP is evil.”
We talked for about half an hour and he learned the truth about the persecution. I asked, “Have you heard that over 100 million Chinese have quit the CCP?” He said, “I was in the Young Pioneers and the Youth League.” I said, “Let me help you quit.” He said, “All right. Please do!”
I ignore people's appearance or their profession and talk to everyone I encounter. I've spoken to street beggars, government officials and people from all walks of life. People usually become very happy after I give them the Shen Yun DVD and help them quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations. Some have said, “You are an angel from Heaven!” and “Falun Dafa is good!”
My Property Manager's Tragic Story
The property manager of my apartment refused to listen when I tried to talk to her about the persecution, and she even helped the police to monitor my activities. In 2003, her sister died of cancer. I tried to tell both of them the truth behind the persecution. However, her sister refused to believe it. A few days later, she passed away. Shortly after that, their father died as well. Her husband went to his memorial ceremony, and on his way back, he died in a car accident. Three of her family members died one after another.
I felt very sad because I thought that if I had spent more time telling them about the beauty of Dafa, they may have been saved. I told myself that I should save the property manager. I went to her home to talk with her. I told her what Falun Dafa was and that practitioners are good people, and that those who have a positive attitude toward Dafa are blessed but those who persecute innocent practitioners will be punished. This time, she understood and agreed to quit the CCP. Her son also agreed to quit.
Learning to Look Inward and Find My Hidden Attachments
I was illegally arrested, perhaps because I became a bit too satisfied with myself in doing the three things. One night in 2010, six or seven police officers broke into my home and took my computer, audio player, and four thousand two hundred yuan in cash. My husband came home from work while they were there and he was also arrested.
It turned out that they were investigating a case and thought I was involved. That was what happened on the surface. What actually caused my arrest was my loopholes. I had some warnings before they came. I frequently saw police near my home, which was very unusual. However, I failed to look inward. When I spoke to them, I wasn't compassionate because I had disdain for them.
While I was detained, I looked inward and searched for my attachments. I realized that I had the mentality of competitiveness, showing off, dreaming that my son would make a lot of money and buy a luxurious house, and was attached to my own ideas. Jealousy was also part of my problem. I felt very embarrassed that I still had these attachments after having practiced cultivation for so many years. I knew they weren't part of my true self, and I sent righteous thoughts to eliminate them. When the police interrogated me again, I remembered Master's words,
“In the eyes of a Buddha, all beings are suffering. Jesus said that you should love not only your friends, but also your enemies. They are compassionate toward all beings, since they save the world’s people. Then as a cultivator, if in your personal cultivation you are unable to love ordinary people who have once been against you, you will not become a Buddha. That’s the truth, because cultivators need to be compassionate.” (“First Fa Teaching Given in the United States”)
This time, I remembered to be compassionate when I talked to the police. I told them that Falun Gong practitioners haven't broken any laws and just wish to be good people. They said, “We're just following our boss's orders. We have no other choice.”
I said, “His order is not the law. The CCP has killed so many innocent practitioners, and harvests their organs while they are still alive then sells them for huge profits. That is an unforgivable sin! After every political movement, the Party kills those who have blindly carried out its 'policies.' Please think about this and make the right decision for yourselves.” They were silent. After a while, they asked, “Are you going to sign this paper?”
“Absolutely not,” I replied. One of them said, “Your demeanor has changed since we interrogated you last time.” I said, “That's true. I was very rude to you, and I apologize. I know that you are being used by the CCP. However, people have to pay for whatever they've done, even if they were just following orders. That's Heaven's principle. Please stop persecuting practitioners and choose a good future.” They left after thanking me.
I was put in a labor camp for a one-year term. I did not accept it and kept sending righteous thoughts. The other practitioner in my cell had been detained there for nearly six months. Everyone respected her very much. We spent most of our time reciting the Fa, sending righteous thoughts, and doing the exercises. We shared our experiences based on the Fa and looked inward. Everyone in the labor camp learned the truth about Falun Gong. So did the newcomers. They also agreed to quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations.
My mind became very clear after sending righteous thoughts for an hour. One day, I had a dream. Someone said, “You should go out through this pipe.” I told the fellow practitioner about it. We both agreed that Master was giving me a hint. She felt very happy for me.
By May 13, World Falun Dafa Day, I had been detained there for thirty days, and I was scheduled to be transferred to a forced labor camp. However, I didn't pass the physical examination and the labor camp refused to accept me. I knew compassionate Master was helping me.
After returning home, I was more diligent in studying the Fa and doing the exercises. I corrected my thoughts based on the Fa. The police came twice. I used to lock the door or was very rude to them, but I now realized they are also waiting to be saved. So I welcomed them and told them the facts about Falun Gong. They listened to me very carefully. One officer said, “You've changed a lot. You weren't like this before.” I said, “Our Master taught us to be considerate of others. I didn't do well on this in the past. From now on, I'll do better.” He said, “In fact, I think you are a good person.” The environment became peaceful.
I recently bought a DVD burner. I make Shen Yun DVDs, distribute them every morning, and tell everyone I meet that Falun Gong is wonderful. I'm able to distribute about twenty DVDs every day and help ten people quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations. In the afternoon and evening, I study the Fa. I often gain a deeper understanding of many principles while studying the Fa, and I can feel myself changing.
While studying Master's lectures “What is a Dafa Disciple,” “Dafa Disciples Must Study the Fa - Fa Teaching Given at the 2011 Washington DC Metro Area Fa Conference,” and “What Does it Mean to 'Help Master Rectify the Fa?'” I felt that every cell of my body was shaking. I deeply understand what I am here for and how I can do better to help Master rectify the Fa and fulfill my vows.
Master said,
“For a Dafa disciple, cultivation is first priority. That’s because if you fail to cultivate well, you will not be able to accomplish what you are to do; and if you fail to cultivate well, your power to save sentient beings will not be that great. And if you cultivate a little worse, then you will view and consider problems in the manner that ordinary people do, which would be still more awful. So you absolutely mustn’t slack off or lower your guard. This predestined opportunity of tens of millions of years, or even eons, and the long wait we have all been through, as with all that we have borne throughout history—all of it was for today.” (“Dafa Disciples Must Study the Fa - Fa Teaching Given at the 2011 Washington DC Metro Area Fa Conference”)
I have a different feeling now when I talk to people. My heart is very peaceful. I sincerely wish to save everyone I meet, and the results have been better.
Conclusion
I send righteous thoughts six times each day. Studying the Fa and doing the exercises is naturally a part of my everyday life. I haven't done anything extraordinary. Everything I have is provided by Master, including my life. There is no reason that I can't do well what Master asks us to do. If I'm not diligent, I have no excuses. I will be more diligent in my cultivation by looking inward and digging out my attachments so that I can return home with Master.
