Mr. Han Laiqing's Sentence Upheld at Taiyuan Intermediate Court

October 15, 2013 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Shanxi Province, China

(Minghui.org) Mr. Han Laiqing from Taigu County in Shanxi Province was arrested last year and was sentenced to a four-year prison term by the judge at Xinghualing Court. He appealed to a higher court immediately. However, the original sentence was upheld at Taiyuan City Intermediate Court.

Mr. Han was reported to the authorities when he was seen helping a fellow practitioner distribute truth-clarification materials on Fudong Street in Taiyuan on November 18, 2012. He was then arrested by officers from Xinghualing.

A court session was held for Mr. Han on May 8, 2013 at Xinghualing Court, where he was sentenced to fours years in prison. But he and his wife appealed the verdict.

Mr. Han's wife met with Zhang Yongming, a judge at Taiyuan Intermediate Court, before the trial and pointed out that Mr. Han had been convicted without any evidence being shown in court and that the information provided by the prosecution was purely based on the prosecutor's assumptions.

However, nearly three months later, the original verdict was upheld at Taiyuan Intermediate Court.
