(Clearwisdom.net) Before practicing Falun Gong, Ms. Du Xiuqin had many illnesses. Shortly after she began the practice in 1997, all her illnesses were cured. After the Chinese government began persecuting Falun Gong in 1999, she was arrested many times for her faith and was fined 6,000 yuan. She was sent to a labor camp twice and was tortured and forced to wear handcuffs.
Ms. Du went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong on November 24, 2001. She was detained in Beijing for eight days and then sent to the Xilinhot Municipal Detention Center. She went on a hunger strike for 18 days to resist the persecution. Because she became very weak, the detention center released her to avoid potential liability.
On February 8, 2002, after staying home for about six weeks, she was tricked into leaving and then arrested. On February 9, she was sent to the Hohhot Women's Forced Labor Camp for two years. She was forced to do manual labor there for more than 10 hours a day. She had to stand for long periods of time and was not allowed to sleep. She was tortured and sustained severe damage both mentally and physically.
In October 2007, she was arrested for distributing truth-clarification materials. She was sent to Team One in the Hohhot Women's Labor Camp for two years and was brutally tortured. Because she refused to give up her faith, she was taken to a storage warehouse. The guards sealed all the windows so that no one could see her. Guard Lu Junqing ordered three drug offender inmates (Xia Chunling, Chi Yanxia, and one other) to take turns watching Ms. Du for three months. She was not allowed to wash herself or sleep for more than six weeks, and was forced to stand both during the day and at night. Lu also told Xia and Chi to seal Ms. Du's mouth with tape and tie her hands together behind her back before they beat and kicked her, and stabbed her body and hands with needles. Her hands were bleeding and she was covered in bruises.
Lu also forbade Ms. Du from using the bathroom. In the beginning, she was given a basin to use in her room. Later, the basin was taken away, and she was forced to relieve herself in her pants. She was also forced to drink a lot of water and eat a lot to make her situation worse. Her pants and shoes were always wet with urine. Her feet were swollen and she could not wear shoes. Her skin started peeling off, layer after layer. Because she was forced to stand for long periods of time, her legs were swollen to the point where she couldn't squat. Her left leg was numb, and she had a hard time walking. However, Lu accused her of faking, and told two drug offenders to drag her while running in the courtyard.
Once, Lu was slandering Falun Dafa and insulting practitioners in front of the whole team. Ms. Du tried to stop him and said, “Falun Dafa is great.” Lu slapped her face several times, and she fainted. Her term was extended by one month, and she was forced to wear handcuffs for seven days.
Torture Re-enactment: Force-feeding
When Ms. Du went on a hunger strike to protest this mistreatment, she was force-fed. Lu told four or five inmates to hold Ms. Du down while they pinched her nose shut and used four or five chopsticks to pry her mouth open. They used so much force that they loosened her teeth. She was fed with high-concentration saline water. This devastated her physically and mentally.
