(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Yu Youwen's wife divorced him under huge pressure caused by the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong. Mr. Yu went to Lanzhou City to do odd jobs, but was arrested by Lanzhou City Domestic Security agents on September 19, 2002. He was taken to the Lanzhou City First (Xiguoyuan) Detention Center. While detained, he was forced to sleep on the ground under the bed. Because the cell was gloomy, cold and damp, he was infected with scabies on his skin and he had difficulty squatting or sitting. However, he was still forced to do hard labor. The sanitation at the detention center was very poor and the scabies made it difficult for him to move around. He had to work kneeling on the ground. From February 2003, he was forced to sleep on the ground for five months.
Mr. Yu was later sentenced to five years in prison, and locked up in Dashaping Prison in Lanzhou City. Practitioners detained there were not allowed to talk or go near each other, and each practitioner was closely watched by several prisoners and recorded every 2 hours.
Mr. Yu was cruelly tortured in Lanzhou Prison. When his son went to pick him up, the authorities told him police from his hometown in Sichuan Province had already picked him up. Mr. Yu was forced to be the gatekeeper in the Peng County Police Department. He was diagnosed with late stage cancer after being tortured severely in the persecution, and died in his home on February 4, 2011. The details are yet to be investigated.
