Ms. Chen Xue

Ms. Chen Xue went downstairs to go to work at around 8 a.m. on January 19, 2011, when Fuzhou City Domestic Security officials arrested her, ransacked her home, and took away her computer and Falun Dafa books. They produced an arrest warrant issued by the Cangshan District Police Department, even though her house is not located in the Cangshan District. She is currently detained in the Fuzhou City First Detention Center.

Ms. Chen was a teacher employed by the Computer Department of the Fujian Institute of Technology. She was very well respected by students and colleagues alike. At the end of November 2006, she explained the Tiananmen Self-immolation incident to her students at recess, after which she was reported. Her superiors change her job from teaching to office work. She was arrested by the Jinan District Domestic Security on December 29, 2006, and detained for 15 days. Although she completed all the classes for a Master's degree, the administrators at the institute refused to let her graduate, saying that her political beliefs caused her to fail.

On the afternoon of May 9, 2008, Gulou District Domestic Security arrested Ms. Chen at work and held her the Hongshan Police Station. Police ransacked her home that night, took away her computer and printer, and detained her for 14 days in the Fuzhou City First Detention Center.

On February 15, 2011, Ms. Chen's family hired a lawyer to defend her, but when the lawyer called Lin Feng, the Second Domestic Division agent in charge of Ms. Chen's case, on February 16, Lin said he needed to report to his boss. Later he called the lawyer and said that his boss didn't want the lawyer to visit Ms. Chen. The police thus deprived Ms. Chen of her right to be visited by lawyer.

Mr. Zuo Fusheng

Mr. Zuo was arrested on the same day as Ms. Chen and detained in the same detention center. He was arrested multiple times, detained, his home ransacked, and he was sent to forced labor in previous years. Mr. Zuo went to work on the morning of January 19, 2011, but was arrested in his office. Police took his house key from his bag and forced their way into his home when only his 80-year-old mother was there. They deceived the elderly lady, stating that they were colleagues of Mr. Zuo. They took his family computer and tried to deceive his mother into signing some paper work, but failed to do this. They left at 11 a.m., returned the key, but left an arrest warrant without any signature. His family called Cangshan District Police Department, but according to the seal on the warrant, a deputy director said they had not arrested Mr. Zuo, the Fuzhou City Domestic Security had arrested him.

On February 12, 2011, Mr. Zuo's mother hired a lawyer for him. The lawyer asked to visit his client on February 14. The detention center authorities said the lawyer had to be accompanied by the agent in charge of Mr. Zuo's case, Lin Feng of the domestic security division. When the lawyer called the Fuzhou City Domestic Security Division in the city police department, the operator said he did not know a Lin Feng. Mr. Zuo's family called Lin Feng's cell, but he refused to admit that he was Lin Feng. The family soon called the Fuzhou City 610 Office chair, Chen Zhi, who denied he was Chen Zhi.

These are not the first cases of Fuzhou police not allowing lawyers to visit their clients. Another Falun Gong practitioner, Mr. Wang Yongjin, a Fujian Province Armed Police Commander School teacher, was arrested on August 31, 2010. His family hired a lawyer for him, but the Cangshan District Procuratorate and Fuzhou City First Detention Center deprived Mr .Wang of this right.
