Ms. Ying Chen, Conductor of Shen Yun New York Company Orchestra, spoke of the inner meaning of "Shen Yun." She said that it means something that is divinely inspired and beautiful.
Kelly Wen, Master of Ceremonies said, "Traditional Chinese culture is really like a lost art, because unfortunately under the Communist regime in China, much of that culture has been systematically destroyed. So our company aims to revive the essence of 5,000 years of culture."
Jared Madsen, Master of Ceremonies said, "We've got a full orchestra that has both western and classical Chinese instruments, and we have a beautiful backdrop that is almost like a movie that takes you into different scenes in Chinese history. We have about 40 dancers, with amazing costumes, each dance has different costume from different time periods throughout China."
Michelle Ren, Choreographer and Principal Dancer said, "What makes the company unique is because our mission is to revive traditional Chinese culture in its purest form. You won't see a show like ours in China today. Chinese culture is considered to be divinely inspired, so that's an overarching theme in our performance."
Kelly Wen continued, "A lot of our performers are ethnic Chinese who grew up in the West. Before joining this production, a lot of us didn't really have an idea of what this [Chinese] culture is all about, but once we delved into it and learned the dances and learned the history behind the dances, and most importantly, the values of our traditional Chinese culture, it really fills us with pride to be able to share this culture with people all around the world."
(Clearwisdom.net) On July 18, 2009, 62-year-old Ji Guizhen, a Falun Gong practitioner from Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, China, was arrested for her beliefs. Her daughter, Xu Anlan, and other family members haven't seen her since. After being illegally imprisoned for a year, Ji Guizhen was handed a two-year labor camp sentence for possessing Falun Gong informational materials calling for the end of the persecution. Now, Ms. Ji is imprisoned in the Women's Prison of Nanjing.

Ms. Ji's daughter, Xu Anlan is a German citizen living in Offenbach am Main. On August 24, 2010, Ms. Xu went to the office of Birgit Simon, the mayor of Offenbach am Main, asking for help to rescue her mother.
Xu Anlan told the mayor about her mother's experience. Another Falun Gong practitioner, Wang Zhen, also told the mayor his experiences of being tortured in a Chinese labor camp. Since he refused to renounce Falun Gong, the police tortured him and injured his knees. He just had knee surgery in Germany.
Concerned about the human rights situation in China, Ms. Simon said that she will do her best to help Xu Anlan.
(Clearwisdom.net) On August 29, the 2010 English Cultivation Experience Sharing Conference was held in London. More than 10 Chinese and Western practitioners gave speeches.

Ms. Zhang from London shared her understanding of working together. She said, "During the promotion of the Shen Yun show, the first lesson I learned was to collaborate with other practitioners. Collaborating well with other practitioners is the key to doing things well. I learned how to put down my own self, and harmonize what Master wants. I also realized that when I am self-centered, I am not helping Master--I am validating myself."
Peter, a Western practitioner, shared his experiences in helping promote the Shen Yun show. His solid belief in the Fa and strong will to promote Shen Yun helped him in obtaining permission to hold the Shen Yun show. He said that he had no experience in applying for permits and there was no practitioner in the city where Shen Yun was going to perform, so he told himself to believe in Master, and Master would give him what he needs. He said that whenever he felt pressure, he would remind himself about believing in Master.
An elderly Chinese practitioner shared her experiences in convincing Chinese people to quit the Chinese Communist Party. She said, "I've been doing this in Chinatown for several years. Now, I do not care what people say. I now have a solid heart of wishing to save people. Although some people refused to listen to me, I am still nice to them. And many people who refused to listen at first quit the party later."
Ms. Zhou, who works for the English Epoch Times, said that her workload is very heavy. She learned how to manage her time so that she can study the Fa, do the exercises, take care of her two kids and do the Epoch Times work well. She said, "Sometimes, it looks hard. But when you start to do it, you find that it is not that hard." She also talked about how to look inward when conflicts arise.
Emiko, a new practitioner, said that she had looked for all kinds of qigong before, which messed up her health. Falun Dafa saved her. After practicing for three months, her body was purified and she is full of energy now. She said that the most important thing is that she now understands what true cultivation is.
(Clearwisdom.net) From August 26 to 29, the Thai Health Show was sponsored by the Thai Department of Health and other organizations at the IMPACT International Conference Center. Many companies and organizations participated, and Falun Gong practitioners also had a booth.
Demonstrating the exercises

Practitioners decorated their booth with lanterns, lotus flowers and photos depicting the spread of Falun Gong around the world. They also displayed Falun Gong books and truth-clarifying materials, and played the exercise instruction video.
Practitioners were invited to demonstrate the exercises on stage twice. They introduced the basic principles of Falun Gong to the audience. A practitioner also gave a performance on the Erhu, a traditional Chinese instrument.
After the performance, the Falun Gong group's booth became one of the most popular spots at the show. Many people came to ask for detailed information and materials, or to buy Falun Gong books. Some people expressed that they would like to invite practitioners to their company or organization to introduce Falun Gong. Practitioners passed out informational materials and gave people hand-made paper lotus flowers.
(Clearwisdom.net) After a heavy rainfall, Falun Gong practitioners gathered in the East Coast Park to exercise and promote the practice. Their graceful, synchronized movements drew the attention of many passersby.

Four young Chinese men stood far away watching the practitioners exercising at first and then they gradually moved closer and watched quietly while sitting on the lawn. They finally talked to a practitioner and asked many questions about the practice and the persecution. One of the young men said that he was surprised to see so many people practicing Falun Gong. He said it was very hard to learn anything about Falun Gong as the internet information was all censored in China. He had just arrived in Singapore for his new job. He took materials and asked about how he could learn the practice. The practitioner told him about the nine-day video lecture seminars and exercise instruction that the local group offered free of charge.
An old man rode his bicycle by the exercise site and stopped to watch. He had heard about Falun Gong, but was not very clear about why it was persecuted in China. A told him the real story behind the Communist regime's persecution of Falun Gong. Before the man left, he took a flier and said he would find an exercise site near where he lived and learn the exercises.
A couple of tourists from the Philippines and Myanmar were drawn to the exercise site by the peaceful music. They began to mimic and learn the movements. This was the first time they heard about Falun Gong. They said that they would download Zhuan Falun online.

The exercise session ended at 6:10 p.m. Practitioners found many blooming Udumbara flowers on the lawn where they exercised. In the Buddhist Sutra, Udumbara flowers bloom every 3000 years. When they bloom, it is a sign of Chakravartin ("He who turns the Wheel") descending into the world to rectify the Dharma and save the sentient beings. In recent years, news comes from around the world that Udumbara flowers were found on copper statues, metal structures, glass, plastic, and plants. They have appeared in temples and in people's homes.

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Wang Mingfang was arrested while handing out truth clarification materials in September 2009. She was sent to a brainwashing center in Shanghai and then was sentenced to Shanghai Women's Forced Labor Camp. Ms. Wang is now detained in the No. 5 Team at the camp.
As Ms. Wang would not renounce her belief in Falun Dafa, guard Li Zhuolin and others ordered four inmates to torture her. As a result, the skin on Ms. Wang's buttocks was ripped apart and covered in pus and blood. She cannot sit down and has lost nearly half her body weight. But, Li Zhuolin still continued to order inmates to force her to sit on a stool for long periods of time to make her endure more pain. When Ms. Wang almost fainted, she was slapped across the face several times.
The guards used all kinds of incentives to get inmates to do evil deeds. Inmates that harassed and tortured practitioners could have their sentences reduced, live under more relaxed rules during their time at the camp, do less work and buy more food. To torment practitioners, the inmates would provide practitioners with the worst food at meal times, and would not allow practitioners to wash, change their clothes or use the restroom. They also verbally abused practitioners throughout the day.
Under such conditions, Ms. Wang's skin became infected and started to fester. Ms. Fan Guoping, a practitioner from Putuo District in Shanghai, also suffered severe persecution at the labor camp after being sent there in 2009.
Practitioners are constantly forced to watch videos slandering Falun Dafa, and those who still refused to renounce their belief are forced to sit on a small stool from 5:30 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. They are only allowed to move at meal times or at restroom breaks. If they moved at any other times, they would be accused of not following the rules, and would be severely beaten. Up to three inmates are used to monitor each practitioner, and they do not allow practitioners to communicate with anyone.
Sometimes the guards would not allow practitioners to see their families during visiting times, and would tell lies to deceive them. The guards told Ms. Wang that her family did not want to see her, and then told her family that Ms. Wang did not want to see them. Ms. Wang's family did not get to see her from September 2009 until the beginning of July 2010. When they did get to meet, Ms. Wang was monitored by four guards. Her mother and child could hardly recognize her, and could not stop crying. Ms Wang could not sit down because of the pain in her buttocks, and had no expression on her face, as she just stared in to space. Her husband could not help but cry as well when he saw this. Her family members saw how badly she had been persecuted and demanded that she be released on bail to receive medical treatment. The guards said that they had reported Ms. Wang's condition to their superiors, but Ms. Wang has still not been able to receive any medical treatment.
Before Ms. Wang was sent to the labor camp, she was healthy and full of spirit. But within only a few months, she was tortured to the extent that she showed no resemblance of her former self.
Shanghai Women's Forced Labor Camp has adopted cruel torturous methods to persecute practitioners over the past 11 years, and hundreds have suffered both mentally and physically. Over 120 practitioners have been arrested and detained in the Shanghai region this year, in the name of ensuring security for the Shanghai World Expo.
(Clearwisdom.net) Zeng Yuxian, a former accountant, and Cui Weikai, a former emergency center doctor, were arrested by police officers from the Cangxi 610 Office and State Security Department. Both of them are from Cangxi County, Guangyuan City, Sichuan Province. Their families have hired lawyers, but the communist regime has harassed and subjected them to intimidation, trying to force them to drop the case.
Details of the Arrests
Mr. Zeng Yuxian is 48 years old. He was formerly an accountant at the Cangxi County Commercial Bureau. On March 26, 2010, he was illegally arrested by police officers from the Fanxi 610 Office and the State Security Department. His house was raided, and his computer, printer, and DVD writer were taken away. Mr. Zeng has been held in custody at Cangxi County Detention Center since his arrest.
Mr. Zeng was fired from his job for practicing Falun Gong. He was also detained in a forced labor camp many times and subjected to brutal abuse. Prison guards poured hot water on him, resulting in his head being scalded. Wire clamps were used to clamp his teeth. He was deprived of sleep for several nights and not allowed to go to the toilet, so he had to relieve himself in his pants. They also put shackles on his legs and used handcuffs to restrict his movement.
Mr. Cui Weikai is 68 years old. He was the doctor-in-charge at the Cangxi County Emergency Center. On March 26, agents of the 610 Office and State Security Department arrested him for handing out brochures that clarify the facts about Falun Gong. He was severely beaten by the police and subsequently sent to a hospital for treatment, while in handcuffs and with shackles on his legs. The police officers also extorted money from his family.
Mr. Cui has been persecuted by the communist regime since the year 2000. He was also fired from his job. His phone was tapped and he was constantly followed and monitored. His house was also raided, and in total he was illegally arrested and detained five times.
The Communist Regime Makes Things Difficult for Mr. Zeng's Lawyer
On the afternoon of July 16, Zeng Yuxian's parents went to the Cangxi County Court to deliver procedural documents on behalf of Mr Zeng's appointed attorney. When they requested access to legal documents on the case, they were told that at present, there are internal regulations for such cases, that proxies appointed by lawyers need to have their credentials assessed, and that they would be notified after investigations had been conducted on this case.
When the lawyer went to visit Mr. Zeng at the detention center, he was told by police officers that they needed to seek permission from their superiors. After consulting their superiors, the police officers told Mr. Zeng's lawyer that he was not allowed to visit his client. The lawyer said that according to the law, so long as procedures had been followed, he should be allowed to visit his client. When a police officer said that he was acting on instructions from above, the lawyer replied that it is the legal duty of every civil officer not to act on instructions given by their superiors if it is obviously illegal. The police officer had nothing to say in return.
There is no legal basis for officials from the court to refuse to give a lawyer access to legal documents or for officials of a detention center to prohibit a lawyer from visiting his client.
After Mr Zeng's lawyer returned to Beijing, he called Cangxi County Court during office hours to inquire about the case. However, no one answered the phone. Later on, his office received a call from someone claiming to be from Yishun District in Beijing. Under the pretext of wanting to resolve financial disputes, the person tried to get information about Mr. Zeng's lawyer. His staff suspected something was wrong and subsequently dialled the caller's number, only to discover that it was the phone number of the Guangxi City 610 Office.
According to an insider, the authorities in Cangxi County did a thorough investigation on Mr. Zeng's acting lawyer. Officials from the County's Procuratorate and 610 Office jointly issued a government document, making allegations against his lawyer such as "being interviewed by overseas media repeatedly" and "failing his legal assessment in 2009."
A few hours after Mr. Zeng's lawyer submitted documents to the court, Zeng Yuxian's parents were harassed and threatened by local authorities, who tried to force them to dismiss the lawyer.
Communist Regime Threatens Family Members
Mr. Cui Weikai's acting lawyer also suffered the same treatment.
Mr. Cui's daughter engaged Beijing lawyer Jiang Yibin to defend her father. On the afternoon of August 5, attorney Jiang went to the court to submit documents. He requested to meet with his client, but was rejected. The court officials told him that there were regulations from above requiring the reassessment of the lawyer's qualifications for such cases.
Immediately after that, the Fanxi 610 Office, National State Security Department, the Court, and the heads of Mr. Cui's daughter's workplace threatened his daughter. They forbade her from hiring a lawyer. Mr. Cui's daughter was so frightened that she was afraid to take calls from the lawyer. She even changed her phone number. Finally, she succumbed to pressure from regime officials and terminated the contract with the lawyer.
Insiders have revealed that officials from the Cangxi Courts attempted to arrange a defense lawyer for Cui Weikai, who would advise a guilty plea.
(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Ao Yongjie, who is being held in Ward 8 in Jilin Prison, is in critical condition as a result of the persecution. The prison authorities allowed the prison doctor to arbitrarily perform a tracheotomy for Mr. Ao, opening up his trachea. After the surgical incision, the wound did not heal for a long time, it ulcerated and became purulent and infected, and the surrounding flesh turned black.
Mr. Ao was sent to Jilin Province No. 465 Hospital for a medical check-up and was diagnosed with pulmonary tuberculosis and lymphatic tuberculosis. He is currently in the prison's hospital.
Mr. Ao's family went to the prison to try to find out about his condition. They called the prison doctor at the reception room, the doctor told them to talk to the ward officials. Mr. Ao's family managed to meet the Ward 8 head Sun Lixin at the prison gate, but Sun told them to talk to the Education Section officials. They called Education Section head Xu Zhanfeng, and were told to talk to Wang Yuanchun who was in charge of Mr. Ao's case. Mr. Ao's family called Wang, who said on the phone that he did not know anything about Mr. Ao's condition.
None of the related officers in the prison want to take responsibility for Mr. Ao's worsening condition.
Mr. Ao Yongjie, 46, of Menggu nationality is a former employee at the Tongliao Railway Bureau's Vehicles Depot. He lived in Baiyinhushuo, Keyouzhong Qi, Xing'an Prefecture. He was fired from his job in 2000 for refusing to renounce Falun Gong and has been subjected to harassment numerous times by Wang Quan, Huang Zhiquan and other officers from the Keyouzhong Banner Police Department. These officers broke into his home and ransacked it several times. Mr. Ao was previously sentenced to imprisonment twice. The first time he was held in the Bao'anzhao Prison for three years. In 2005, he was incarcerated in a brainwashing facility for a month.
To avoid persecution, Mr. Ao had to live away from home and work part time. He was illegally arrested again on July 13, 2007 in Siping City, and was given a seven-year prison term. He and two other practitioners were sent to the Jilin Prison on April 24, 2008.

(Clearwisdom.net) Shijiazhuang Women's Forced Labor Camp officials in Hebei Province subject detained Falun Gong practitioners to do arbitrary forced labor. The forced labor term of some practitioners was extended by the camp officials from one year to one and a half years. Officials also extended the terms of those practitioners who voice objections to the forced labor.
Officials in Division Four, along with Shijiazhuang City Jinhuan Packing Company, have forced practitioners, as well as non-practitioner detainees who've appealed for their basic human rights, to do intensive forced labor, including assembling bottle stoppers. Every day they have to walk up and down four flights of stairs, unloading and loading the goods. Sometimes, they have to work overtime in the evening. The forced labor term is extended for those cannot finish the assigned work quotas.
Division One head Liu Ziwei, Political head Wang Weiwei, and an official surnamed Tuan Wei worked with a factory in Xinji City that specializes in producing archival bags. They force practitioners and other inmates to do heavy labor. There is no break on weekends, and detainees can sleep only 5 or 6 hours per night. Even those who have severe illnesses are no exception. People who refuse to do the forced labor are put in solitary confinement cells, beaten, verbally abused, and force-fed.
Later, officials contracted with factories producing bath towels and bath caps, thus increasing the already heavy workload. Every day, practitioners have to move the heavy bags of materials up and down the four-story building. Guards forced the practitioners and other inmates to do hard labor all day, every day. This situation lasted more than two months, and many suffered from excessive fatigue and extremely poor health. The forced labor term was extended for those who failed to finish their assigned work.
Qinhuangdao City practitioner Ms. Fu Hong refused to do forced labor, so the guards humiliated her by chopping off her hair, deliberately cutting it at different lengths, making a mess. They also beat her and kicked her until her face was swollen. Ms. Fu was then put in a solitary confinement cell in Division Four for further abuse. She has been there since July 21. Right now, Ms. Fu is very weak and needs assistance walking.
Anguo City practitioner Ms. Zhao Yuran was sent to the Shijiazhuang Women's Forced Labor Camp for one year, but the "Labor Camp Notice" was revised with an extended term of one and a half years. Several practitioners objected to being mistreated and refused to do slave labor, including Ms. Zhang Huilian, Ms. Xu Shuxiang, and Ms. Yu Haixia. Since July 21, they have been forced to stand for long periods of time. Ms. Zhao Yuran's term was extended by one month.
Li County practitioner Ms. Zhu Lihua had symptoms of severe illnesses. She now has leukemia, with two lumps near her neck, which are said to be related to the lymphatic system. Because of shoulder pain, she has difficulty raising her arms, and her entire body is weak. Ms. Zhu's family requested her release on medical parole, but a doctor surnamed Ma refused to sign the medical parole document. Ms. Zhu Lihua is currently still detained in Division Four.
Due to the extended period of mistreatment, Ms. Zhang Zhuting had neurasthenia and insomnia, and was thus unable to do the hard labor for several months. Her term was extended by 14 days. Ms. Zhang was released on July 6.
The term of Ms. Yan Pengxia was extended by 23 days.
The term of Ms. Wang Runlian was extended by 29 days.
Ms. Wu Junfang was pregnant when the Olympic Games were held in Beijing in 2008. She was illegally arrested, taken to a local detention center, and subjected to a forced abortion. In addition, because Ms. Wu was kept chained to a bed and unable to move, her physical condition deteriorated and she became extremely weak. She was sentenced to two years of forced labor and is now held in Division Four. Her term was extended by 22 days with no reason being given.
Handan City practitioner Ms. Li Mei was sentenced to two years of forced labor. Her term was extended by 18 days and she was released on August 3.
Ren Haifeng and other agents from the Xishanbei Town Airport Police Station in Yi County arrested Ms. Li Yunxia from home and took her to the Yi County Detention Center. After holding her for three days, officials sent Ms. Ren to Shijiazhuang Women's Labor Camp for a term of one year. Her term was then extended to one and a half years. In addition, her term again was extended by 26 days. Ms. Ren has now been released.
The term of Ms. Wang Guixiang was extended by 22 days.
Ms. Wang Hongying was sentenced to one year in a labor camp. Labor camp officials later extended her term to one and a half years and then again by another 14 days.
The terms of other practitioners were also extended, including Ms. Liu Shumin, 21 days; Ms. Song Canying, 9 days; Ms. Yu Jie, 9 days; Ms. Yin Xiuqin, 9 days; Ms. Wei Hui, 9 days; and Ms. Wang Yuemei, 10 days.
The term of Ms. Zhang Junmei was extended by two days, but she has now been released.
The following practitioners are currently still detained at Shijiazhuang Women's Forced Labor Camp: Ms. Wu Junfang, Ms. Wang Ruilian, Ms. Zhu Lihua, Ms. Wang Xiumei, Ms. Fu Hong, Ms. Zhang Huilian, Ms. Xu Shuxiang, Ms. Zhao Yuran, Ms. Yu Haixia, Ms. Xiao Xiangyu, Ms. Li Yujie, Ms. Wang Baoling, Ms. Xu Xiuyan, Ms. Xi Shuhui, and Ms. Dai Shuna.
Guards used the following collaborators to transform practitioners detained in Division Four: Yang Shurong, Zhang Suyun, Liu Yongli, Tian Hua, Qu Xiaoying, and others.
Most of the detained practitioners oppose being subjected to forced labor and the term extensions. They also request the unconditional release of all detained practitioners.
Women guards working in Division Four include: Zhao Yuran, Cong Shujuan, Liu Yamin, Zhang Jia, Liu Fang, Hao Ming.
(Clearwisdom.net) The little girl in the photo below is named Shengguo and she is two years old. Little Shengguo had a happy family, and spent her first years joyfully with her dad and mom's love and care. However, now things are different, and little Shengguo cries all day, longing for her dad and mom to return home.
Shengguo's father, Mr. Tian Gang; and her mom, Ms. Cui Jinglian; are both Falun Gong practitioners from Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province. Officers from the Jiang'an Police Station in the Longsha District broke into Mr. Tian's Tea Store and illegally arrested him on March 10, 2010. Mr. Tian was subjected to interrogation and torture for two days by the Longsha Criminal Police Team. He was later held in the Qiqihar City No.1 Detention Center, and was interrogated and tortured again one week later.

After Mr. Tian's arrest in March, his wife Ms. Cui went to live away from home with their daughter. On July 20, 2010, Zhang Wei from the Qiqihar City Police Department and officers from the Longsha District Criminal Police Team arrested Ms. Cui. At the time, she was working part-time in the Guangxi Autonomous Region. The police forcibly took Ms. Cui back to Qiqihar City, showing no regard for the little girl. The same day that Ms. Cui was arrested, little Shengguo contracted pneumonia and fever.
Ms. Cui has been held in the Qiqihar City Detention Center ever since. We have learned that the Qiqihar City 610 Office now plans to place Ms. Cui on trial.
Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started the persecution of Falun Gong, Mr. Tian and his wife Ms. Cui have been subjected to arrest and detention numerous times.
Mr. Tian went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong in September 1999, but was arrested by officers from the Tiefeng Police Department in Qiqihar. He was held in the Qiqihar City No.1 Detention Center for three months. Mr. Tian was arrested again in July 2000 by officers from the Tiefeng Police Department. He was held in the Qiqihar City No.1 Detention Center for two months.
Qiqihar City Police Department officers took Ms. Cui Jinglian to the Shuanghe Forced Labor Camp to be held for a year in January 2001. Qiqihar City Court officials sentenced her to four years in prison in 2002, and sent her to Harbin Women's Prison. Ms. Cui was subjected to severe abuse and torture in prison. Besides doing hard labor all year round, prison guards forced her to listen to propaganda on a daily basis, in an attempt to brainwash her. Because Ms. Cui refused to renounce Falun Gong, the guards tortured her and instigated criminal inmates to beat her. Ms. Cui held hunger strikes to protest the persecution, and the guards force-fed her many times.
The regime's eleven-year-long persecution has broken up countless families, and this tragedy is still ongoing.
We call upon people with a sense of justice inside and outside China to urgently help rescue Mr. Tian and Ms. Cui.

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Kan Zongquan, is a 70-year-old retiree from the 7111 Factory of Sichuan Aerospace Industry Corporation. She has been constantly persecuted for believing in Truth-Compassion-Forbearance as a determined Falun Gong practitioner. Her husband passed away at the end of 2005 because of endless harassment by CCP officials. Her son, who is not a Falun Gong practitioner, is now mentally incapacitated after being monitored and harassed by the police.
Ms. Kan Zongquan was detained for 15 days between March 23 and April 7, 2000 in Wenjiang County Detention Center. At the same time, the 7111 Factory fined her three thousand yuan.Under such pressure from both the CCP and public opinion, her son could not take the strain and became mentally disordered. He was afraid of going to work and then scared to return home, since the authorities could be waiting for him. On April 6, her husband had no choice but to send the son to a mental hospital for treatment, which cost 1000 yuan. On April 7, local CCP member ordered her husband to pay a 3000 yuan "fine." He had to borrow the money to pay for it as he had run out of savings.
After her release, Ms. Kan Zongquan was tightly monitored and often harassed by the authorities. She received many harassing phone calls. Her home was ransacked several times and many household items were taken away.
Ms. Kan Zongquan's son was a full time employee at the 7111 Factory. The factory fired him because of his mental disorder and his wife ended up divorcing him because he could not support her.
Ms. Kan Zongquan's husband was also a retiree from the 7111 Factory and he was disabled because of his work there. In 2001, after the CCP orchestrated the self-immolation propaganda stunt in Tiananmen Square to frame Falun Gong, the party secretary of the 7111 Factory held a "discussion session" for all the Falun Gong practitioners in the plant. Ms. Kan Zongquan explained, "It's impossible for Falun Gong practitioners to commit suicide owing to the principle that we do not kill, and that includes suicide." Instead of listening to her, the party secretary, Jia Yingfu threatened her husband that she would be sent to a forced labor camp. Her husband replied, "I am disabled and cannot walk. Our son is sick. You figure it out!" The factory then often requested the husband to tightly monitor her. If she went to Beijing, he would be held responsible.
Ms. Kan Zongquan's husband could not stand the continuous pressure and harassments, and he passed away at the end of 2005. This innocent family collapsed under the intense pressure from the CCP in the illegal persecution of Falun Gong.
On December 14, 15, 18, 20, and 22 of 2006, policemen from Domestic Security Agency of Gongping Town Police Station broke in and ransacked her home five times in a row. The security of the 7111 Factory cooperated with the police and stole her son's computers. They also took away two CD burners, Falun Gong books, videotapes, electronic books, mp3 players, a photo of Master Li, and Falun Gong materials. Altogether, the items were worth more than 10 thousand yuan.
The security officers of the 7111 Factory, community police, and policemen from Gongping Town Police Station broke into Ms. Kan Zongquan's home again at 11 am on November 25, 2008. They illegally arrested her and detained her for 15 days. Two security officers from the 7111 Factory stayed in her home to monitor and intimidate her son, which aggravated his mental condition. During her detention period, because of the mental stress, her son destroyed a laptop, a DVD burner, electrical outlets, and his own clothes. They were worth more than 10 thousand yuan. After that, her son could not sleep for fear of the authorities returning.
From the end of 2008, the factory stopped Ms. Kan Zongquan's pension. She lost about 14 thousand yuan. Ms. Kan Zongquan said, "I asked the factory to return the money to me. Not only did they say no, they gave me no reason, and had the nerve to ask me to write a report saying that I had relinquished my pension." Beyond that, the suffering of her son (he is currently unemployed) and the death of her husband are beyond repair.
(Clearwisdom.net) Officers from the Jiangyou Domestic Security Division illegally arrested Falun Gong practitioners Zhang Qizhong, Mr. Wei Chaohai, Mr. Du Zhijun, Mr. Wang Lianying and Wu Fenglei in September 2009. The Domestic Security officials then worked with the local court and Procuratorate to put the practitioners on trial.
Officials from the Jiangyou City Court in Sichuan Province conducted a court hearing against the five practitioners on August 2, 2010, in which their families were denied entrance to the court. Peng Yongfeng, Liang Xiaojun, Jiang Yibin and Jin Guanghong were the defense lawyers and put forward a strong case, but the practitioners were still sentenced. Zhang Qizhong was sentenced to 9 years, Mr. Wei Chaohai was sentenced to 8 years, Wu Fenglei was sentenced to three and a half years, and Mr. Du Zhijun and Mr. Wang Lianying were sentenced to three years.
On the day of the trial, Wu Fenglei, who was released on bail to seek medical attention, was brought to the court by two police officers. Approximately 300 plainclothes officers, led by Wu Xingming, surrounded the court and took pictures of everyone inside the courtroom.
Court officials used every conceivable means to prevent the practitioners' families from attending the hearing. Ms. Fu Faqun, the younger sister of Mr. Wei Chaohai's wife, said to Yang Liusong, the head of the Domestic Security Division, "You allow the family members of murderers or arsonist's to attend their trials. Why don't you allow us to attend this one? It doesn't make any sense." Yang Liusong answered, "You cannot expect reasonable treatment for Falun Gong practitioners."
When other family members asked the staff in the court as to why they could not attend the trial, they were told that they needed a special permit to attend. However, family members were told the day before that they only needed to bring their ID cards. When the families asked where they could get this permit, they were informed that all the permits had been handed out the day before. The only people allowed into the proceedings were about 30 officers from the Domestic Security Division and the 610 Office.
The trial lasted from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The judges were told how the practitioners' health had improved from practicing Falun Gong, and that by clarifying the truth to other people, they were helping people to see through the communist regime's lies. They said that doing so is not an unlawful act, but is a reflection of one's compassion.
The lawyers pointed out that people have the right to freedom of belief, and that it's completely legal to practice Falun Gong, and that there is no legal evidence to define Falun Gong as a "cult." A lawyer asked, "Since you stated that the practitioners have broken the law, then can you tell us which law they have broken?" The judge and the prosecutor were speechless, but they still sentenced the practitioners.
Yang Liusong arrested Ms. Fu Faqun, sister-in-law of Mr. Wei Chaohai; Ms. Wu Qihui, Mr. Du Zhigun's wife; and Mr. Wang Xianping after the hearing, and took them to Songhualing Brainwashing Center.
Over the past eleven years, Mr. Du Zhijun and his wife Ms. Wu Qihui have been persecuted many times.
Mr. Wei Chaohai's son, Mr. Wei Bing, was sentenced to ten years of imprisonment in 2001, and is still being persecuted in prison.
Mr. Wang Xianping has a lot of crops to harvest, but because he was arrested, no one is left to do it, causing a significant financial loss for him.

(Clearwisdom.net) As the head of Guangdong Province, Huang Huahua led a delegation to visit Taiwan on August 16, 2010. Falun Gong practitioners filed a lawsuit against Huang Huahua with the Taiwan High Prosecutor's Office that same afternoon. We, a number of Falun Gong practitioners from Guangdong Province, are the direct victims of the persecution perpetrated by Huang, and would like to provide some facts.
Guangzhou is one of the cities where the persecution of Falun Gong has been most severe. Huang Huahua was Guangzhou Party committee deputy head, Party secretary and also the head of the Guangzhou 610 Office between 1999 and 2002. Under his tenure, the persecution became extremely severe.
Since 2002, Huang Huahua has been standing vice governor, and one of the main responsible parties in the persecution of Falun Gong in Guangdong Province.
The brutal persecution has lasted for over eleven years. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is using the Asian Games in Guangzhou, scheduled to take place between November 12 and 27, 2010, to worsen the persecution. As of the end of July 2010, more than 100 practitioners from Guangzhou are being detained.
1. Persecution attributed to Huang Huahua, based on official information and media reports
In spite of the CCP's tightly controlled information blockage, we have discovered several official materials and media reports that provide evidence of Huang Huahua's severe persecution of Falun Gong in Guangzhou. We would like to point out, however, that the CCP's media reports and official materials are filtered, and there are many pieces of information missing.
(1) According to the official and public data, by the end of July 2002, 464 Falun Gong practitioners had been held in the Guangzhou City Forced Labor Camp. In December 2005, according to Chen Weixiong, director of the Guangzhou Provincial Department of Justice, at least 2,460 practitioners were once held in the Guangzhou Province Forced Labor system. Considering that the CCP revealed this information when CCP officials were trying to cover up the persecution, the actual numbers of incarcerated Falun Gong practitioners are likely much higher. In 2003 alone, 1,099 Falun Gong practitioners were held in the Guangdong Province Women's Education Center (presently the Guangdong Women's Forced Labor Camp) [according to Sanshui Yearbook 2004]. At the end of 2003 there were 153 practitioners detained.
(2) Huang Huahua visited Chatou Forced Labor Camp and the Guangzhou City "Legal Education School," to inspect "education and reformation" work on the afternoon of May 29, 2001. He declared that he would put all practitioners who persist in their belief into brainwashing centers, in order to transform them. (3) Huang Huahua emphasized during the legal leading group meeting in Guangzhou City on the afternoon on April 4, 2002 that Guangzhou would "fight" with Falun Gong, "maintain the stability of the society," and welcome the 16th National Party Congress. (Source: Yangcheng Evening Post, April 3, 2002)
(4) Huang Huahua's speech to the City Party Propaganda Department Conference in 2002 stated: "Need to fully recognize that the struggle with Falun Gong is a prolonged, complicated and arduous task and need to continue to deeply develop the struggle of 'exposing and criticizing' Falun Gong."
2. At Least 18 facilities participate in the persecution of Falun Gong in Guangzhou City and Guangzhou Province (excluding detention centers and lockups)
Over the past eleven years of the persecution, many facilities in Guangzhou City and Guangdong Province have directly participated in the persecution of Falun Gong. Some have been disbanded. According to 2010 Clearwisdom reports, the following 18 are the main ones still participating in the persecution.

At 4:30 p.m. on July 13, 2010, as Mr. Xue Xinde, a 57-year-old Falun Gong practitioner from Biantan Township, Huzhu County, Qinghai Province, was walking along Bona Square in Guchengtai, Xining City, he was carried away by two plainclothes police officers who appeared suddenly. They threw him into their vehicle and drove off.
Mr. Xue was previously arrested many years ago, on January 17, 2001. At that time, large quantities of truth-clarification materials had been found in Biantan Township, so authorities from the Huzhu County Police Bureau, Domestic Security Division and Biantan Township Police Station arrested Mr. Xue at his home and detained him in the county Domestic Security Division. He was cruelly beaten and tortured, and was also under tremendous mental pressure.
Police officers held Mr. Xue against the cold, frozen ground and kicked his head hard with their heavy boots, causing him to almost lose consciousness. They punched his face, causing him to bleed. They forced him to stand in the "horse-step" position and then kicked his lower back from behind. They also burned his face. When none of the brutal torture could make him renounce Dafa, they handcuffed Mr. Xue with his arms behind his back and hung him up in the air for as long as eight hours. The handcuffs cut deeply into his flesh.
On April 17, 2001, Mr. Xue and three other Falun Gong practitioners were forced to walk on the local streets wearing signs reading, "I Undermined the Implementation of the County Law." Their names were also displayed. (This is a type of public humiliation often employed during the many "political campaigns" perpetrated in communist China.) After that, the practitioners were taken to a public meeting at the county Sports Field, along with criminals including murders, where they were surrounded by tens of thousands of people. At the meeting, people were encouraged to publicly slander Dafa and to make false accusations against the practitioners.
Then these four practitioners were taken to Biantan Village. In an open area inside the township middle school, police officers held another so-called "public meeting" where they were forced to walk around the streets with signs hanging on them again and were humiliated in front of their neighbors, friends and relatives.
After Mr. Xue had been detained for nine months, he was illegally sentenced to a forced labor camp for another two years and six months. After he was released, he was still often threatened and fined. His home was ransacked a few times, which caused great agony to him and his family. Another practitioner who was arrested at the same time -- Zhang Youzhen, the Principal of Biantan Middle School, was tortured to death during his detention at Duoba Detention Center in Qingdao Province. He was only 47 years old.
In 2006, Mr. Xue was turned in for talking to people about Falun Gong and the persecution. To escape further persecution, he had to leave home. He went to Xining City and took a temporary job.
On July 15, 2010, two days after he was arrested this most recent time, Xue Xinde was transferred to the Domestic Security Division in Huzhu County and is currently detained at the County Detention Center.

While Ms. Qi Shixiu was taking care of her two-year-old nephew around 10:00 a.m. on August 12, 2010, five officers headed by Huang Yao from the Rongxiang Police Station broke into her home and searched it. They did not find anything they wanted but took Ms. Qi to a brainwashing facility.
4. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Huang Shilin and His Wife Ms. Yang Yin Taken to a Brainwashing Facility
While shopping in the Longquanyi District, the couple was captured and taken to the Xinjin Brainwashing Center on August 14, 2010.
Ms. Huang and Ms. Yang had previously endured persecution. They were under house arrest for a year beginning in 2001. Ms. Yang was held in the Xinjin Brainwashing Center for three months in the second half of 2009. Since March 2010, 610 Office agents and Neighborhood Office personnel often harassed them at home and threatened their four sons.
5. [Yingkou, Liaoning Province] Seven Practitioners Face Trial
Seven practitioners from Bayuquan were covertly tried on July 28, 2010. A verdict was announced on August 11, 2010. Mr. Teng Wenmin returned home on August 12, 2010; six other practitioners are still held in custody. The men are in the Bayuquan Detention Center and the women in the Yingkou Detention Center.
6. [Jieyang, Guangdong Province] Additional Information Regarding the Persecution of Mr. Zheng Yiying
Mr. Zheng Yiying was arrested the morning of July 23, 2010, as he posted information about Falun Gong downtown. He was taken to the Ronghua Police Station where several officers beat him. The police ransacked his home that same night and held his non-practitioner wife and two children overnight in the police station. Mr. Zheng was held in the Meiyun Drug Rehabilitation Center for 15 days and forced to pay a 900 yuan "management fee." He was released only after his wife wrote a guarantee statement.
After Mr. Zheng's release, Rongcheng District 610 Office dispatched plainclothes police officers to monitor and follow him.

9. [Hulin City, Heilongjiang Province] The Whereabouts of Ms. Xu Tianxiang from Farm 854 Unknown
Ms. Xu Tianxiang, employed at Farm 854, and Ms. Du Changxia, a Forestry Bureau employee, rode a train from Dongfanghong to Harbin on the evening of August 21, 2010. Police on the train arrested them. The two practitioners are currently in the Mudanjiang Railway Detention Center.

10. [Chongqing] Ms. Zhang Sufang Severely Abused in the Chongqing Women's Forced Labor Camp
Ms. Zhang Sufang, in her 50s, was sent to the Chongqing Women's Forced Labor Camp in October 2009. Criminals who monitored her often deprived her of restroom use and wouldn't let her wash. They forced her to squat for a long time and refused to let her use toilet paper. Guard Chen Yanyan took Ms. Zhang to a deserted area in the camp in March 2010 and forced her to stand in military postures and squat for a long time.
Instigated by guard Zhu, criminals Xiao Tihui and Chen Tingting beat Ms. Zhang daily in her cell in the daytime in May 2010. Xiao also stomped on Ms. Zhang's feet. The daytime abuse and torture left Ms. Zhang unable to sleep during the night. She suffered from chest and back pain, coughed, and was short of breath. Ms. Zhang is still being abused on a daily basis.
11. [Zhaoyuan, Shandong Province] Ms. Yang Lanxiang and Ms. Diao Yunying Arrested
Zhaoyuan City 610 Office agent Song Shaochang and six other officers broke into Ms. Yang Lanxiang's home in Shiduitou Village the evening of August 19, 2010. They arrested her and confiscated her computer, printer, CD burner, and other items.
Song Shaochang and others proceeded to arrest Ms. Diao Yunying in Kaojia Village around 10:00 p.m. that same day. They confiscated Falun Gong literature and informational materials and money. The two practitioners' whereabouts are unknown.
12. [Fushun, Liaoning Province] Ethylene Chemical Plant Employee Ms. Cui Wei Arrested
Ms. Cui Wei, in her 40s, an employee of the Ethylene Chemical Plant Hospital affiliated with the Petrochemical Company, had previously been held in police custody in the Fushun City Police Department. Following her release she lived away from home for years to avoid the persecution. Her husband divorced her. She was arrested on her way to work the morning of August 19, 2010, and taken to the Nangou Detention Center. The police ransacked her home and confiscated her computer and other items.
13. [Guanghan, Sichuan Province] Ms. Yu Daxiang Arrested
Ms. Yu Daxiang was arrested on August 17, 2010, as she spoke with people about Falun Gong in public.
14. [Nanchong, Sichuan Province] Ms. Zhang Lifang Persecuted
Ms. Zhang Lifang, in her 50s, from Peng'an County, was arrested in April 2010 as she spoke with people about Falun Gong. Peng'an County Police Station officers made the arrest. Peng'an County Court officials tried Ms. Zhang at 9:00 a.m. on August 24, 2010. Beijing lawyer Mr. Liang Xiaojun entered a not-guilty plea for his client.
15. [Jiaonan, Shandong Province] Mr. Cheng Wenxian Arrested
Mr. Cheng Wenxian was arrested at home the morning of August 20, 2010. 610 Office agents and Boli Police Station officers made the arrest. Mr. Cheng was to be held in the Shaoxing Road Brainwashing Center in Qingdao City.
16. [Hefei, Anhui Province] Ms. Ji Shuhui Arrested at Home
Seven officers led by Wuhu Street Police Station head Wang Jinsong in the Baohe District broke into Ms. Ji Shuhui's home at 9:00 a.m. on August 22, 2010. Ms. Ji is retired from the No. 4 Railway Bureau Hospital. She was taken to a brainwashing center in Hefei City, but has since returned home.
17. [Yima, Henan Province] Mr. Wang Mingyue Abused in the Xinmi City Prison
Yima City Police Department deputy head Wang Zhongqu ordered Domestic Security Division officers to monitor Mr. Wang Mingyue's repair shop in April 2008. They arrested Mr. Wang in August 2008 and proceeded to also arrest Mr. Zhao Baozhuang and Mr. Yao Genshang. The police ransacked their stores and homes and took the three practitioners to the Yima City Detention Center.
Mr. Wang's wife made a living selling items on the street. The second year following his arrest, his wife, pressured by others, filed for divorce with the local court. The divorce devastated Mr. Wang, who was forced to do slave labor. He became thinner and thinner and his hair turned white overnight.
Yima City Court officials covertly tried the three practitioners around July 2010 and would not let them hire a lawyer. Mr. Wang was given a seven-year prison sentence; Mr. Zhao Baozhuang twelve years and Mr. Yao three years. They appealed with the Sanmenxia City Court. Judge Peng Jianguo upheld the original sentences. Yima City Detention Center officers sent Mr. Wang and Mr. Zhao to the Xinmi City Prison.

We have learned that practitioners from Wangqing County who were taken to this brainwashing center on August 10, 2010, included Ms. Zhang Fengzhi, Ms. Li Wenshu, and Ms. Yin, who is retired from the Wangqing County Hospital. The three of them returned home on August 18.
Ms. Yan Caixia from Tianqiaoling Town received a phone call from an official at her workplace the evening of August 15, 2010. She was told to go to her job to work overtime. When Ms. Yan arrived, she was taken to the brainwashing center. Mr. Xu Hongshan was taken to the brainwashing center on August 18 and returned home on August 20. Ms. Yan is still in the brainwashing center.
Practitioners Ms. Teng Kemei and Mr. Li Youcun left home to avoid the persecution.
20. [Jiangyin, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Yang Haihong Held in a Forced Labor Camp
Ms. Yang Haihong, originally from Qinhuangdao City, worked recently in Jiangyin City. Jiangyin City Police Department officers arrested her around July 8, 2010. She has been held in a forced labor camp for more than a month.
21. [Baoji, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Wang Juxia Arrested
Ms. Wang Juxia from Mei County was arrested on August 21, 2010, as she spoke with people about Falun Gong in Gaodian Town. Qishan Police Department officers made the arrest. The police searched her home the next day. Ms. Wang is now held in the Qishan Police Department.
22. [Dujun, Guizhou Province] Ms. Jiang Hui Subjected to Forced Labor
Ms. Jiang Hui went to the countryside on July 6, 2010, to speak with people about Falun Gong. She was arrested as she posted information about Falun Gong. Six officers from the city's 610 Office, from her neighborhood committee, and from a local police station went to her home, seized her husband's computer, and threatened her daughter and her family. Ms. Jiang was first held in the Dujun Drug Rehabilitation Center and was later subjected to a one-year forced labor term. She is currently in the Zhongba Forced Labor Camp in Guiyang City.
23. [Dehui City, Jilin Province] Mr. Du Wenxue Arrested and Detained
Daqingzui Town practitioner Mr. Du Wenxue was reported to police for clarifying the truth to people. He is currently at the Dehui City Detention Center.
24. [Laishui County, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhang Shufen Sent to a Labor Camp
Agents from the Laishui County Police Department and from the Mingyi Township Police Station arrested Ms. Zhang Shufen on July 12, 2010. She is a practitioner in Mingyi Village. They took her to the police department but released her that same day. They re-arrested her at about 10:00 p.m. and took her to the Shijiazhuang Forced Labor Camp with a term of one year. She sprained her left foot during the arrest and eventually needed to be bandaged.

Ms. Zhou Jinhua, a Luoyang City practitioner in her 60s, was recently arrested in Guangzhou City, along with her four children and one daughter-in-law. Their living quarters in the Junjing Community in the Tianhe District in Guangzhou City were ransacked and many Falun Gong books confiscated. One family member in Luoyang City was also arrested. Tianyuan Police Station agents in the Tianhe District and 610 Office agents are responsible for these deeds.
29. [Yongzhou City, Hunan Province] Ms. Wang Shujuan Sentenced to Four Years of Imprisonment
Lingling District 610 Office agents in Yongzhou City went to Ms. Wang Shujuan's place on September 22, 2009. They ransacked her home, took away Falun Gong books and truth-clarification materials, and took her to a detention center.
Lingling Court officials held a hearing on February 25, 2010. Attorney Wu Guoxuan entered a not guilty plea for his client. Ms. Wang was given a four-year prison term on May 29. She appealed to the Yongzhou City Intermediate Court. The court officials covertly made a decision upholding the original sentence on July 15.

Agents from the Qibin District Police Department and from the 610 Office went to the home of Ms. Jiang Guilian, almost 60, on August 6 and arrested her. Officials also ransacked her home and later held her at the Xiling Detention Center in the Shancheng District.
Ms. Guo Xiuzhi, a practitioner in her 50s, and another elderly female practitioner were also arrested around August 5 and are now in the Xiling Detention Center.

More than 10 agents from a police station in Feidong County, including plainclothes officers, arrested Ms. Wu Yulan at home on the morning of August 22, 2010.
Some of the agents first restrained Ms. Wu's husband while two other agents grabbed their 10-year-old son. Agents then sprayed a white powder all over Ms. Wu, including her face. She immediately lost consciousness. The agents carried her away. According to her husband and son, the white powder caused pain wherever it touched, and its smell made people nearby immediately pass out.
32. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Update Regarding the Persecution of Several Practitioners in Quyang County
Of the 23 practitioners arrested on August 16 and 17, four of them are still being held at a detention center. It was said that Mr. Shi Lin and his wife as well as Ms. Junxia had returned home. Another practitioner was held in a separate detention center. The remaining practitioners were either sent to Gaoyang County or to Shijiazhuang City, except for Ms. Li Ronghui who was ill and being monitored. She has since been released.
Mr. Zhao Chunpeng, Ms. Li Ronghui, and Mr. Yao Feng have returned home. Wangtaibei Village resident Ms. Wang Luanping is still held at the detention center.

Ulanhot Domestic Security Division agents arrested and mistreated many practitioners. They arrested the following five practitioners in July 2010 and are holding them now at a detention center. They are Ms. Li Xiuzhi, Ms. Che Guizhi, Ms. Wang Lijuan, Ms. Wang Ying, and Ms. Chen Aimin. Due to mistreatment, all of them have symptoms of illness.
In addition, two practitioners surnamed Wu and Xin were previously arrested.
Ms. Hu Yanling was sent to Tumuli earlier this year. Ms. Gao Yuping and Ms. Han Jinhua were transferred to Tumujin in 2009. Ms. Han Jinhua has been released.
Officials released mother and daughter Ms. Che Guizhi and Ms. Wang Lijuan after forcing them to pay 60,000 yuan. They returned home. Ms. Li Yuzhi is still detained.

(Clearwisdom.net) I started practicing Falun Dafa in 1996. At that time, my daughter was only six years old and I often took her with me when I went to the practice site. My daughter started college in 2007. During the long holiday in October, she felt discomfort in her chest. Soon after she returned to college, her ribs started to hurt. Later, she was diagnosed at the Chinese Academy of Medical Science Cancer Institute with a late stage malignant lymph tumor measuring 11.3 x 8.9 cm. My daughter was 18 years old then.
The medical experts told us that this type of tumor grows exponentially in its late stage. Within one month, my daughter's condition had deteriorated drastically. Her heart was pushed out of position by the tumor; her trachea and esophagus had little room left. She was having difficulty eating normal food and could only take in a little liquid food. Once in a while she was short of breath and had difficulty breathing. As her mother, my heart was pained as I watched her. I enlightened that her illness was a big test for me, and I firmly negated the arrangements of the old forces. No matter what the results from any test or exam were, I never acknowledged any of it. During that time, I never used the words "cancer" and "malignant." Countless times, I said to Teacher in my heart, "No tribulation can stop this disciple from walking the path home and following Teacher. Everything is arranged by Teacher." Therefore, during the whole time my daughter was sick, I used the Fa to help her. I never missed an opportunity to read the Fa to her, and I shared my understanding of the Fa with her: Illness is due to people's karma from doing bad things in many past lives. Only when karma is eliminated can the illness disappear, and Teacher only eliminates karma for practitioners. While modern medical treatments push the illness deeper inside, when Teacher cleanses the body of practitioners, he is eliminating the root cause of the illness. My daughter gradually started to understand the Fa.
Since my daughter's condition was very serious, the experts stated that her life could be in danger at any moment. Therefore, they made an exception and admitted my daughter to the Sanhuan Hospital, a branch of the Chinese Academy of Medical Science Cancer Institute. She was assigned to a room for two patients. She was fortunate in that on the day my daughter went into the hospital, the other patient in her room had left the hospital, and no other patient was moved in. This created a very good environment for my daughter and me to study the Fa together. Therefore, I used every opportunity and possible time to have my daughter come in contact with Dafa.
One afternoon soon after my daughter was admitted to the hospital, she suddenly had difficulty breathing. Her condition did not improve by inhaling oxygen, and instead it got worse. Even with the oxygen flow set to maximal, there was no improvement. Her face turned blue, her breathing quickened, big drops of sweat ran down her face, and her body was almost stiff. Her eyes looked confused and she looked at everyone in front of her bed - my older daughter, my husband and I, as if she was bidding final farewell. The doctor was also sweating; he didn't know what to do. At first, I was so scared that I didn't know what to do, but I quickly regained my calm. I continuously eliminated the evil beings in my daughter's other dimensions and asked Teacher to strengthen her to get through this life and death test. This tense atmosphere lasted about twenty minutes. Then her breathing seemed to get a little better, and she pointed at the oxygen tank. She was too weak to speak. I guessed she wanted to turn down the oxygen flow a little, so I set the oxygen flow back to normal. After another ten minutes, everything returned to normal.
That night, my daughter told me, "Mom, I went through death this morning. My air path was like a thin thread. It was so hard to get one breath, then I couldn't breathe at all. Just as I was struggling, a voice told me, 'Stop breathing and you will be relieved.' The pain of not being able to breathe was hard to bear, so I used my eyes to bid farewell to you one by one. Just at that moment, a thought appeared: I cannot die. I still have Teacher, I still have Dafa. What would happen to my dad, mom and sister if I died? I cannot die. The moment this thought appeared, my breathing path seemed to widen little by little. I was able to breathe again." If I had not seen this myself, who would have believed it? With Teacher's help, my daughter passed the test of life and death.
The next morning, the doctor allowed my daughter to go out into the courtyard in a wheelchair in order to get some sun. The weather was nice on that day, and her depressed mood also improved under the sun. My daughter was full of hope and delight, "Mom, I have decided not to go through chemotherapy. I want to go home and practice Dafa with you!" I looked into her eyes; they were full of hope and determination. I was so moved. I helped her to sit down and said, "I have been waiting for this sentence from you. But cultivation is a serious matter. It is not something you do in the heat of the moment. You must think it through because it is a choice of life and death."
I knew very well that if my daughter could not handle herself well, once she started practicing Dafa, she could face life-threatening situations at any time. Not only could she lose her life, it could also give people a very negative impression about Dafa. My husband of course was strongly against the idea. However, my daughter was determined. She insisted on going home and practicing Falun Dafa, no matter what my husband said. Although my husband was still against the idea, he couldn't convince my daughter otherwise. In the end, he could only bring her home.
Cultivation is indeed a serious matter. The morning after she came home, my daughter suddenly could not urinate. She went to the restroom several times, but to no avail. She started to get scared and was afraid that her bladder might have been damaged. When she got scared, her left foot started to feel numb and the feeling slowly moved up the leg. She got even more scared, and the symptoms got worse and the feeling of numbness got stronger. By 2:00 p.m. in the afternoon, both her feet were numb and she could not walk. With no other choice, we could only take her back to the hospital. By the time we got to the hospital, her lower body had lost all feeling. She was bedridden and could not control her bladder or bowel movements. She even needed help to turn around in bed. As a result, she could only continue with a chemotherapy treatment.
During the chemotherapy treatment, my daughter reconsidered what had happened and I also helped her to analyze it. Teacher said, "fear is also an attachment." and, "the entire cultivation process for a practitioner is one of constantly giving up human attachments." (Zhuan Falun, 2000 translation) When a cultivator cannot handle her xinxing well and starts to use human reasoning on matters of cultivation, it will bring trouble. Once my daughter understood the Fa, she became more diligent in studying the Fa.
The fourth treatment of chemotherapy was about to end. One morning, my daughter told me that she had cried the whole night and that she still felt very bad. She said she had the same dream over and over during that night: she was lying on the bed and another self of her was facing her and was crying. The other self repeatedly said, "How come I cannot do better! How come I cannot do better!" The crying of the other self made the one in bed very sad. My daughter said that she felt she had let Teacher down. Teacher kept cleansing her body, but she continued with the chemotherapy, which put so much poison in her body, and she felt really sorry.
At the end of April 2008, my daughter had completed the first stage of chemotherapy, and was still paralyzed. With the permission of the hospital staff, we brought her home for a while in order to help her get ready for the next stage of chemotherapy. This time at home, my daughter spent almost all her time studying the Fa. She quickly finished reading all of Teacher's articles and lectures. The next morning we were getting ready to go back to the hospital, when she called my husband and me into her room. She told us earnestly, "Dad, Mom, in the past four months that I was sick, I felt as if I had lived forty years. This time I am clear. Master is right, being a human being means to suffer. A human should return to one's true self. From now on, I will wholeheartedly cultivate Dafa. If I cannot finish it this life, I will continue the next life!" My husband didn't agree, "Did you forget the lesson from the last time?" My daughter replied honestly, "In fact, last time I did it to avoid chemotherapy. I was taking a chance and had the pursuit of healing an illness. After several months of studying the Fa, I understand now that Master is guiding people toward high levels. A cultivator must use the standard of high levels to guide oneself. Only when one's xinxing improves, can illnesses be healed. Don't worry, I will follow a cultivator's standard and walk my path well this time."
Just like that, my daughter started to practice Dafa again. As Teacher said in Zhuan Falun, "When one's Buddha-nature emerges, it will shake 'the world of ten directions.' Whoever sees it will come to give a hand and help this person out unconditionally." When my daughter's enlightenment quality improved, she studied the Fa, practiced the exercises and sent forth righteous thoughts without missing a beat. When she couldn't stand, she leaned against the wall to do the exercises. I was afraid that she would fall, so I tried to stand in front of her every time, but she always said, "Mom, I won't fall, don't worry!" With a tenacious will, my daughter was fulfilling her promise. She did sweat profusely whenever she did the exercises. With such a serious illness, the pain of eliminating karma is hard to describe with words, yet she never uttered a sound. Every day, other than sleeping at night, she spent all her time studying the Fa. She immersed herself into the Fa and trusted Teacher. Once I asked her what it was like to eliminate karma. She said, "In fact, when you saw me picking up Zhuan Falun after taking a break from studying the Fa with you, that was the toughest time."
During that period of time, my daughter's condition changed day by day. From the time she vowed to practice Dafa again, within about ten days, she had changed from a paralyzed person, who could not take care of herself, to being able to walk while holding on to the wall, and she was getting steadier every day. In the middle of October, my daughter was able to ride a bicycle on the street. The Buddha Fa is boundless; Buddha's grace is infinite! On Chinese New Year, my whole family knelt before Teacher's picture and thanked him for saving us and for giving my daughter a second chance at life.
(Clearwisdom.net) The following incident left a deep impression on me. One day, while I was on my way to work, my mind was in turmoil. I said to myself, "This is not right. I should recite, 'Falun Dafa is good!' 'Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good!'" However, after reciting this a few times, my mind started to have stray thoughts again. I nearly ran into someone's car, but still I couldn't calm those thoughts down. All of a sudden, I felt my bicycle moving forward quickly. I applied my brakes but they broke. On my left was a big car and on my right was a stall. I screamed and went flying through the middle. I crashed into the motorcycle in front me and fell to the ground.
I thought to myself, "See, this is my punishment for thinking too much!" I did not feel any pain at all and did not think too much about the accident. Several days later, I saw a colleague limping and asked her what had happened. She said that she had just crashed into a motorcycle. The pain was unbearable. I then realized that Master had protected me in my earlier accident. Later, I shared my experience with another practitioner. I said that I did not think about being a practitioner at the time of my accident. Why did Master protect me? The practitioner replied, "When an everyday person has an accident, he will not think of reflecting upon himself. However, you immediately looked within yourself to see what you had done wrong. That means you have regarded yourself as a practitioner and that is why Master has protected you." I was punished for not having righteous thoughts. However, I could handle this incident in accordance with the teachings of the Fa. Consequently, I was looked after by Master!
I had a dream one night. I dreamed of many people dancing in a disorderly fashion, and I was one of them. When I woke up, I could not understand what the dream was trying to tell me. I thought perhaps it was trying to warn me that I had not followed practicing only one cultivation way. Yet, although I was not diligent in my cultivation, I was indeed only practicing Falun Gong and did not even think of other cultivation methods. After sharing my dream with a practitioner, he told me that once he walked past a dance advertisement on the street. He lowered his head and walked past it quickly without even glancing at the ad. I then realized why I had the dream. In the morning, I also saw this particular advertisement on the street. However, because I used to love dancing, even though I had given up this attachment, I could not help but take a glance at the ad. I also thought that the dancers in the ad did not look good.
In everyday society, if you only have bad thoughts but do not act upon it, then you have not committed a sin. You would only have sinned if you actually committed a wrong deed. However, if a cultivator has bad thoughts, his or her cultivation level will drop. Once you have bad thoughts, it is considered a mistake. A cultivator's every thought should assimilate to the Fa. Master said,
"We have said that good or evil comes from a person's spontaneous thought, and the thought at that moment can bring about different consequences." (Zhuan Falun)
Several times when I had sickness karma, I discovered that a single thought could result in entirely different results. Once, I appeared to have flu symptoms. It seemed to be really bad and my nose kept running. I thought to myself, I am a cultivator, and nothing will happen to me. I studied the Fa and did the exercises as usual. When I did the meditation, I was suddenly all better, and did not even have a transition period. This was an extremely wonderful feeling. I realized that as long as my mind is on the Fa, I will instantly recover from sickness karma. It is indeed miraculous!
On many occasions, I immediately recovered from sickness karma because my thoughts were righteous. One incident that left me with the deepest impression, was the time when my neck was sore and swollen. I was in pain and thought to myself that this might be a symptom of an injury to the vertebrae in my neck, and that I was probably destined to suffer from this illness at this point in my life. But I had the thought that fortunately, I have started to practice Falun Dafa and no longer have to endure such pain. Instantly, the symptoms went away and I recovered.
Some practitioners who practiced for a longer period of time than me and who used to be very diligent, ended up indulging in watching television or had strong human attachments. Consequently, they were persecuted by the old forces with sickness karma and died. I am saddened by their deaths. At present, many things disseminate karma. As cultivators, our body is constantly purified and if we attract such bad things, isn't it going the opposite way? We should resolve to quit all bad habits, purify ourselves, and try to ensure that our every thought, at every moment, is on the Fa.
(Clearwisdom.net) My sister introduced me to Falun Gong in June 1999, only a month before Jiang Zemin and his cohorts initiated the brutal persecution on July 20, 1999.
I was reading Zhuan Falun for the first time, and although I knew the principles were good, I failed to cultivate my moral character in accordance with the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. I continued to live like an everyday person. Sometimes, when I went to my sister's house, I read Teacher's new articles and took Falun Gong materials back home. My husband did not like me to have anything to do with the practice, and would search my bag. When he found Falun Gong materials, he would tear them up and beat me. I just couldn't take the pressure from my husband and did not have a strong will to cultivate. I quit practicing. However, my sister continued to encourage me to return to Falun Gong.
Cultivating again saved my life
I had a operation to remove a cancerous tumor in my breast on August 16, 2007. When I was discharged from the hospital, I stayed with my sister, and we studied the Fa, sent forth righteous thoughts and did the fifth exercise only. I dared not do the other exercises, as I had not fully recovered from the operation.
In "Teaching the Fa at the Conference in Houston," Teacher said:
"Speaking of this, I want to tell those students who aren't diligent: you want to be a cultivator but haven't set strict requirements for yourself, studying and cultivating on and off, and so problems will occur in your bodies. The reason is that when you don't truly cultivate, the body will return to the state of an everyday person. At that point you will wonder, "Why is my body always not good?" Cultivation is serious. Why isn't it good? This you should ask yourself. Do you believe in the Law? Do you believe that you are a cultivator? Is your mind that steady? If you can truly have a mindset that's determined about cultivation and can let go of human feelings, then it won't take even a second and your ailment will be gone."
Didn't Teacher's words apply to me here? I truly enlightened that it was Teacher benevolently telling me not to miss this once in a life-time opportunity.
After a week of chemotherapy, I was determined stop the treatment, but my family tried to persuade me to continue. I was told that I could still do the exercises, but that I had to carry on with the chemotherapy. Despite the pressure, I didn't give in. I said, "Chemotherapy can do no more than buy some time. Only practicing Falun Gong and Teacher can really save me. I am firm in my decision to cultivate." With this one thought, miracles happened.
Over the past twenty years, I had worked hard to make a living, despite having an artificial limb. My husband didn't help much with our businesses and I had become ill from working too hard. I suffered from many health problems, including insomnia, severe neck pains, problems with my spine, inflammation of the bile duct and rheumatism. As I wore a prosthesis, my body was no longer straight and my spine became deformed, causing severe back pain. I really felt miserable.
Within one month of practicing Falun Gong, and without any medication, all these problems disappeared. I felt very light and blessed. My moral character also improved.
Setting up a materials production site
After studying the Fa for a while, I realized that we have to assist Teacher to rectify the Fa and save sentient beings. I regretted having wasted the past eight years.
I must follow Teacher and do the three things well, but I needed truth clarification materials. My sister introduced me to another practitioner, but they were not sure if they could provide any materials, as they lacked the necessary equipment. I then decided to produce my own materials. As soon as I held this thought, Teacher made arrangements for me. I got the equipment and my two daughters helped me to set up a materials production site at home.
The materials production site is now expanding and I provide almost all the funds required to keep it going. I also use my business to spread money with truth-clarification messages on them. I was not yet able to climb stairs, so I distributed truth-clarification materials to the flats on the ground floor and also put them on car windshields. I talked to people about the facts of Falun Gong and helped them to withdraw from the Chinese Communist Party. Sometimes my son also came along to help me distribute the materials.
While walking steadily on my cultivation path, I gradually let go of attachments to fame, material interests, and emotion. My temper has changed for the better and I no longer swear. I have come to understand the true purpose of life - to return to one's original true self.
While struggling in this world and looking for riches, I had forgotten my original vows to Teacher. Our benevolent Teacher does not want a single practitioner left behind, and so has tried painstakingly to awaken me and guide me back on the correct path.
I will use this limited time to exert more effort to cultivate diligently and do the three things well.

(Clearwisdom.net) As practitioners we must do certain things. The state of being "free of intention" that Dafa requires is essentially different from the one other cultivation practices require. This state that Falun Gong teaches does not mean to do nothing. This is especially so during the Fa-rectification period, because clarifying the facts and saving sentient beings is our grand vow. We should not only do this, but also do it well and as much as possible. Teacher told us that, by doing the three things well, everything will be encompassed.
The mentality of needing to accomplish something reflects a need to satisfy oneself when doing things. On the surface one is doing things in order to validate Dafa. However, his or her starting point is not according to Dafa's needs, the needs of cultivation, or what is needed to save sentient beings. Usually, it is mixed with feelings of a need to sense achievement, such as "I want" and "I like."
When doing things, it is easy to have this mentality of accomplishment, especially when one is doing many different things, and it is easy to fall into this trap without being aware of it. Of course, doing more things doesn't necessarily mean one has this need-to-accomplish mentality, while doing less does not necessarily mean one doesn't have it. Similarly, if someone has never seen the opposite sex, it doesn't mean he or she does not understand lust.
In conclusion, cultivation is to cultivate our hearts, not superficially doing things or not doing things. When we let go of the mentality of the need to accomplish things while simply doing the three things with righteous thoughts, we will meet Teacher's requirements and do more to help Teacher to rectify the Fa.
(Clearwisdom.net) There was a big fire in an apartment building located at 8540 Westminster Highway, Richmond, British Columbia, Canada early on the morning of August 7, 2010. The residents, property management company and security personnel have been busy dealing with the aftermath ever since. One of the tasks is to help the residents safely get their personal belongings out of the building as soon as possible.
It is a little dangerous to enter the building because of the damage done during the fire. On August 28, Ms. Li Chunlan, who lived on the second floor, was notified to enter her unit to fetch her personal belongings. However, only four people were allowed to enter the unit. After signing a liability release statement at the property management office, Ms. Li entered the building with three other individuals and two security guards leading the way.
The units next to Ms. Li's suffered severe damage, especially the one on the left. Ms. Li was told that the residents of that unit couldn't get in because it was too unsafe.
When they entered Ms. Li's unit, however, they found that most articles were left unburnt. Some of the electrical equipment might have been damaged due to the foam from the fire extinguishers. Ms. Li took out her clothes, kitchenwares and bedding piece by piece. When she carefully carried out three intact colorful plastic drawers containing Falun Dafa books, her colleagues outside cheered in joy. Although they expected that the Falun Dafa books wouldn't have been affected by the fire, they still felt very happy to personally witness it. The two security guards were also moved. They forgot their exhaustion and smiled happily.
When asked about her feelings, Ms. Li said from deep within her heart, "Thank you Master Li for your protection!"
