(Clearwisdom.net) Shen Yun Performing Arts Company thrilled and delighted audiences for five shows at the Music Center's Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, in Los Angles, California, on July 8-11, 2010.
Award Winning Composer Impressed by Orchestra
Kevin Kiner, an award winning composer, attended the show with his family.
Mr. Kiner has recently received awards for composing scores for his television work for CSI: Miami and Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
Inspired by the orchestra's instruments, especially the flute, he said he found himself listening to the music with his eyes closed, enthralled by its beauty.
Sean, one of Mr. Kiner's family members, admitted that he had very little experience with Chinese dance.
"All I have seen has been in foreign movies. I have not see anything on this large a scale before. It's really impressive to see it in person."
Sean especially liked the dance, "Wu Song Battles the Tiger."
Movie Sound Specialist Stunned by Beauty of Shen Yun

Also in the audience were Helgar Pedrini, a sound production and design specialist, and his wife, Nora.
Mr. Pedrini was spellbound by the visual aspect of the Shen Yun show.
As president of an audio facility that specializes in post-production work, Mr. Pedrini's company handles some very big clients.
"We do the entire Harry Potter series. We just finished the new movie Inception. We do all the major releases, and a lot of TV shows," Mr. Pedrini explained.
When Mr. Pedrini was asked to give his professional opinion about the sound quality and music, he said, "To be honest with you, I'm really taken by the beautiful costumes that everybody is wearing. I have heard that there is an incredible number of costumes they change into during the performance."
In noting the visual impact of the dancers, he said, "I'm also amazed by the physical conditions of the dancers and how graceful they look when they perform."
Mr. Pedrini thought the show, overall, was "fabulous!" adding, "I'm very glad we came to see it, and it's nice to learn a little bit about Chinese culture."
Mrs. Pedrini, the vice-president of their family owned company, also had glowing remarks about Shen Yun: "I loved the show. You really get a sense of the history, the culture, the art, and the grace. I like the fact that it brings into play current issues that are still going on in the country, as well as China's history, which has a lot of grace and culture in it."
The current issues that Mrs. Pedrini was referring to are the two dance sets portraying the ongoing persecution of the spiritual practice Falun Gong.
Mrs. Pedrini said that the cultural aspect of the show is what impressed her the most. "It's very beautiful. You can feel the history of the people and culture. I'm very respectful of the performers and the message and the performance. The costumes are beautiful. The grace of the dancers; you really get a sense of the culture."
"I'm enjoying it very, very much," she concluded.
Actress Sees Shen Yun As a Chance to "Enjoy the Beauty of Art"
Actress Hunter Tylo and friend
Actress Hunter Tylo, a former model who has appeared on several television shows, including The Bold and the Beautiful from 1990 to 2002, also attended the show accompanied by her friend.
"I love to see all kinds of Asian art, but this was the first one I'd seen with this kind of theme to it, religious freedom," Ms. Tylo said.
"So this was really nice. It had a lot of the theatrical movement and the choreography that I would expect of a New York show. It was really beautiful, the design of the clothing and the sets, that was the kind of thing that ... I wanted to come see," she continued.
Ms. Tylo believes the Asian arts show an appreciation for nature and that Asian artists reflect this appreciation in everything that they do, "keeping everything as natural as the way God made it."
She was entranced by some of the combination of colors in the show. "When I see pink and green with each other, it's particularly beautiful.
"And that's what I see with a lot of things that God has made on the earth. That's why it's shocking when you see a garden and you see red and green and pink and purple all together, and it works, that's what I really appreciate," she said.
Ms. Tylo thought the music was "beautiful," adding, "I love the different instruments, and I love the intensity about it. There's a soft beauty to it."
Ms. Tylo also enjoyed the various different themes in the show.
"I love the thought that you shouldn't be told what to believe, and that you shouldn't be persecuted for wanting to believe in something higher than yourself, and knowing that there's a freedom in knowing that there's something after this life," she said.
Overall, Ms. Tylo enjoyed the fact that the show "lets people just be themselves, just believe what they want to believe, and enjoy the beauty of art, and listen to the different music."
