(Clearwisdom.net) Caring for women, especially pregnant women, is a basic social norm and an indication of a society's level of humanity. Chinese law states that pregnant women are not to be arrested or detained, but, rather, given parole pending trial or live under surveillance. During the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) persecution of Falun Gong, the Party adheres to no basic moral standards and ignores all legal regulations. Most heinously, pregnant female Falun Gong practitioners have been tortured.
Ms. Wu Junfen lives in Handan City, Hebei Province. When she went to visit her dying father in July 2008, local police took her to a detention center. The detention center refused to accept her because she was four months pregnant. The local police and birth control office, against her will, took her to the hospital and made her have an abortion. They shackled her arms and legs, and she was force-fed and injected with drugs. Four days after the abortion, she was detained for ten days, then taken to the Hebei Province Women's Forced Labor Camp to serve a two-year term.
Ms. Zhang Liqin is a teacher employed by Yangtuanbao Middle School in Qian'an City, Hebei Province. She was arrested in her class by officers from the Domestic Security Division. One day during detention, she was about to drink some water when she was called by 610 Office chair Yang Yulin to go upstairs. Upon returning to her cell, she drank the water in her cup. Yang Yulin asked her with a malicious laugh, "Taste something else in the water?" Ms. Zhang said, "No." Yang said viciously, "You think I would release you just because you are pregnant? No way! You can never escape my strategies." Ms. Zhang felt a pain in her abdomen the next day and bled for several days. Guards forced her to run while carrying a sandbag, then forced her to hand-wash their laundry with cold water. She eventually had a miscarriage.
Ms. Wang Jinju, 62, a former famous basketball player in China, now lives in Canada. She has stated, "I knew a practitioner in Beijing who was seven months pregnant. Four police officers laid a door over her and then stood on it to force her to accept the brainwashing."
Brutality to pregnant Falun Gong practitioners is often accompanied with insults. Ms. Geng Juying lives in Mengzhou City, Henan Province. The police wanted to take her into custody, so they first injected her with an abortion drug, causing her extreme pain. Several male officers observing what was going on said with perverted laughs, "We are watching you!" They watched as Ms. Geng had a miscarriage. She was imprisoned in the Jiaozuo City Brainwashing Center soon after.
Ms. Gao Yumin lives in the Beijiangyan Community, Fujin City, Heilongjiang Province. She went to visit her mother at her brother's home on September 19, 2007. The police arrested them without any reason. Ms. Gao was three months pregnant. After being detained and beaten for 28 days, her health quickly deteriorated, she lost sight in both eyes, and she was severely lacking blood. She was rushed to the Fujin City Railroad Hospital after passing out. She had no pulse and her heart had stopped. In an emergency operation, the doctors found a dead fetus and a lot of blood in her abdomen. They saved her life after eight days of care, and her family had to pay 10,000 yuan.
Pregnant Falun Gong practitioners have not been released even when they were about to give birth or when their babies were born alive.
Ms. Zhang Hanyun lives in the Hantai District, Hanzhong City, Shaanxi Province. In March 2001, CCP Political Security Office (of the district police department) chair Ma Ping'an and others tried to arrest Ms. Zhang, but they failed. They blocked off the construction site owned by Ms. Zhang's father in Lueyang County and handcuffed her husband to the Jialing River Bridge, forcing her family to give her up. Ms. Zhang was eight months pregnant with "Birth Permission," but she was still taken to a suburban hospital for an abortion. The baby was so big that the doctors had to remove it surgically.
Ms. Guo Wenyan is an employee of the power equipment factory affiliated with the Yinchuan City Power Company in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. The police arrested her and wanted to force her to have an abortion. They made her family sign a paper since the baby was very developed. The baby girl was delivered alive and cried out. Ms. Guo's mother-in-law said, "She is still alive, we want to take her home!" But the doctor pinched the baby's neck as soon as she cried out and killed her!
There are many similar examples over the past 11 years of the persecution of Falun Gong. This practice is an insult to the dignity of women. The tragic suffering of these pregnant Falun Gong practitioners has proved just how lacking in humanity the CCP really is. Who is not born of and nurtured by a mother? Caring for pregnant women is equal to one's care and gratitude to one's own mother. People of conscience should not keep silent with regard to the CCP's brutality toward pregnant Falun Gong practitioners!
