(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 17 cities or counties in nine provinces. In this report, 25 Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 13 practitioners were illegally arrested.
1. [Leiyang, Hunan Province] Ms. Li Huijuan Subjected to Toxic Substances at the Baimalong Forced Labor Camp
Ms. Li Huijuan was held in the Baimalong Forced Labor Camp for one year. Her family took her home before her term expired on March 11, 2010. Ms. Li looked haggard, and her eyes were dull and lifeless. She behaved abnormally and talked incoherently. Her family learned that she had been placed in solitary confinement in the camp, where eight inmates monitored her. One day she felt thirsty, and was given two bottles of milk. After she drank them, she felt dizzy and went into a state of panic. After this reaction to the likely ingestion of toxic substations, camp authorities were afraid of taking responsibility and released Ms. Li ahead of her term.
2. [Chongqing] Ms. Zu Huaying Arrested
Ms. Zu Huaying, 62, was arrested on the afternoon of April 6, 2010. Officers from the Yutai Town Police Station, Changshou County made the arrest. She was taken to the Changshou Detention Center that same afternoon.
3. [Yiyuan County, Shandong Province] Ms. Liu Guangxia and Others Still in Custody
Ms. Liu Guangxia, Mr. Geng Jiandong and Ms. Wang Taimei are still in custody. Ms. Zhou Guoying has been released from prison.
4. [Pulandian, Liaoning Province] Four Practitioners Arrested
Four practitioners from Pulandian City were arrested at around 8:00 p.m. on April 10, 2010 as they distributed Falun Gong informational materials. The police took them to the Beilan Police Station. The oldest practitioner is in his 70s, and the youngest in his 40s.

Update on Ms. Lin Shuhua and Other Practitioners
Zhucheng Court officials handed Ms. Lin Shuhua a three-and-a-half-year prison sentence on December 29, 2009. They also sentenced Ms. Liu Xixiang, Mr. Tai Guishan and Ms. Lu Guijuan, each to six and a half years in prison. The practitioners' appeals were denied on April 9, 2010. They are now being held at the Dongjiao Detention Center.
7. [Yantai, Shandong Province] Ms. Liu Meihua Arrested
Ms. Liu Meihua from the Zhifu District was arrested on the afternoon of April 7, 2010 as she spoke with people about Falun Gong at a market. Officers from the Baishilu Police Station made the arrest and ransacked her home. Ms. Liu is now at the Nanjiao Detention Center.
8. [Shou County, Anhui Province] Mr. Li Tianjing Transported to Suzhou Prison
Mr. Li Jianjing from Shou County was sentenced to four years in prison. The court officials upheld the original sentence at the second trial. Mr. Li was covertly transported to the Suzhou Prison in Anhui Province on April 8, 2010.

9. [Hebei Province] Mr. Li Kai Held in Custody
Mr. Li Kai, 45, was arrested at 5:00 p.m. on April 9, 2010 as he spoke with people about Falun Gong at the Beimen Postal Savings Bank in Lulong County. Chengguan Police Station officers and the county's patrol police made the arrest, ransacked his home, and confiscated about 200 yuan in paper currency, on which Falun Gong messages were written, as well as a paper-cutting knife. Mr. Li is now at the Lulong County Detention Center.
10. [Yanzhou, Shandong Province] Follow-up Report on Mr. Liu Ming
Mr. Liu Ming was arrested on April 8, 2009 and was sentenced to seven years in prison. He was held at the Taizhong Corporation on November 18, 2009.
11. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Ms. Meng Fengzhen Held in Custody
Ms. Meng Fengzhen, in her 50s, is being held at the detention center subordinate to the Huolu Procuratorate.

12. [Yishui County, Shandong Province] Mr. Liu Qingrong Held at Linyi City Brainwashing Center
Mr. Liu Qingrong was arrested on April 4, 2010 and is locked up at the Linyi City Brainwashing Center.

13. [Gaotang, Shandong Province] Ms. Cao Huaixi Subjected to Forced Labor
Ms. Cao Huaixi from Gaotang County was arrested as she posted Falun Gong information on the afternoon of March 3, 2010. She was taken to the Liaocheng Detention Center. Her family received notice that she had been sent to the Jinan Women's Forced Labor Camp, to be held for one year.
14. [Yancheng, Jiangsu Province] Mr. Wu Wenguang Arrested and Home Ransacked
Mr. Wu Wenguang, in his 50s, from Yancheng City, was arrested on April 2, 2010 for speaking with people about Falun Gong. Wenfeng Police Station officer Zheng Shizhou and others made the arrest, ransacked his home and confiscated an MP3 player and seven pieces of paper currency on which Falun Gong messages were written. He is now at the Yancheng City Detention Center.

15. [Xi'an, Shaanxi Province]
Update on Ms. Wang Juan and Other Practitioners
Ms. Wang Juan, an employee of the Xifei Company in the Yanliang District, along with Mr. Song Zhi from the No. 630 Research Institute and Mr. Xu, a retired employee from the Xifei Company, were arrested in early April 2010, as they distributed Falun Gong informational materials. Ms. Wang is being held at an unknown location in the northern suburb of Xi'an City. Mr. Song was able to escape, but Mr. Xu is in custody.
16. [Jingzhou, Hubei Province] Ms. Fu Wanhua and Mr. Zhang Jiuliang Given Prison Terms
Ms. Fu Wanhua and Mr. Zhang Jiuliang from the Shashi District were arrested in September 2009. They have been held at the Shashi District No.1 Detention Center for more than six months. Shashi District Procuratorate officials prosecuted them, and Shashi District Court officials handed them each a seven-year prison sentence.
17. [Chongqing] Ms. Liu Shiying and Three Other Practitioners Given Prison Terms
Ms. Liu Shiying, in her 60s, and Ms. Tang Wanxiu, in her 50s, are both from Mawangwu Village. Ms. Li Hongrong, in her 80s, is from Mawangsi Village. Jiulongpo District Court officials sentenced Ms. Liu to eight years in prison, Ms. Tang to five years, and Ms. Li to three years, to be served outside of the prison.
Since July 20, 1999, dozens of practitioners in this area have been subjected to the persecution. Among them, Mr. He Hai'ou was sentenced to ten years in prison in 2000. Mr. He Kunliang was subjected to one and a half years of forced labor. Mr. He was given a two-year forced labor term in March 2010. Mr. Chen Qi was given a twelve-year prison term, and Mr. Wang Rong a seven-year prison term in 2001. Mr. Liu Yalin was sentenced to five years in prison in 2007. Mr. Liu was also subjected to detention and forced labor. Ms. Yu Jierong was subjected to a three-year forced labor term in 2009.
18. [Chengdu, Sichuan Province] Ms. Fan Caixia Arrested
Ms. Fan Caixia, a teacher in the Public Health and Management Institute at Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, played a video in class about the staged self-immolation on Tiananmen Square and distributed Shen Yun DVDs to her students on March 15, 2010.
The university's security division officers and agents from the Wenjiang Domestic Security Division arrested Ms. Fan at work that same day and took her straight to the Wenjiang Detention Center to be held for 15 days. At her projected release date, Wenjiang Domestic Security Division officers tried to gather more evidence from the university to escalate her persecution. She is now under criminal detention and awaiting trial.
19. [Jiutai, Jilin Province] Ms. Li Guirong Dies as a Result of Persecution
Elderly practitioner Ms. Li Guirong from Jiutai City has been subjected to home ransacking and arrests numerous times for speaking with people about Falun Gong. The police went to her home on December 24, 2009 to try to find out the whereabouts of her son, Mr. Qi Lichang. Ms. Li was threatened and frightened, suffering from tremendous anxiety. Two days later, she suddenly had difficulties breathing and died on December 27, 2009.
