(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Changbai from Qitaihe City, Heilongjiang Province used to live in the old city's party school compound in the Taoshan District. His whole family has moved to an undisclosed location, out-of-town.
The following is a partial account of the persecution Mr. Wang Changbai has provided.
I began the practice of Falun Gong in February 1998 when I was at the normal university. I conducted myself strictly according to the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. I was kind to others, studied hard and earned high acclaim from my teachers and peers.
Less than two months after my university graduation, the persecution started [on July 20, 1999]. I let go of my selfishness and a potentially comfortable life (my family told me that they had found one of the best schools for me to work in). Together with two other practitioners, I traveled to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong on December 10, 1999. We were taken to the Tiananmen Police Station and held at a detention center in Beijing. Police from Qitaihe City stationed in Beijing took us back to Qitaihe. The police took all the money we had brought with us.
Taoshan Police Department officers took me into custody at the Qitaihe No.2 Detention Center, where I was subjected to gross abuse and mistreatment. I was whipped with a leather whip, hung up, and had cold water poured over my whole body. I was subjected to the "flying airplane" torture method and many other things were done to me. I was faced with fear, hunger, and cold. I was released in mid-May 2000 following nearly six months of detention. I also lost my job. My elderly father and sisters all suffered greatly. My father's hair quickly turned gray.
Taobei Police Station officers took me away from my home in late June 2000 in order to prevent me from going to Beijing to appeal. They held me at the Qitaihe City No.1 Detention Center. While being held at the detention center I developed scabies all over my body, and I was in unbearable pain. I do not remember when I was released. My father became thinner, more and deeper wrinkles appeared on his face. Now he spoke even less.
The Taoshan Police Department, along with 610 Office agents, sentenced several practitioners to prison on March 4, 2003. I was subjected to two and a half years of detention. I was first held at the Qitaihe City No.1 Detention Center for six months, and then sent to the Mudanjiang Prison for two more years. I was tormented both physically and mentally. Practitioners held at the prison were forced to do hard labor overtime. My being persecuted deeply affected my family.
On April 12, 2009, I went to obtain an ID card at the Taoshan Police Department and was held for ten days. My family was forced to pay 2,000 yuan.
I still can remember some of the persecutors; they are Li Xiaolong and Han Long from the Taobei Police Station, Zhang Heping, former city police chief and Cao Wei and Sun Tangbin, heads of the Taoshan Police Department.
