(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 10 cities or counties in four provinces. In this report, 15 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least six practitioners were illegally arrested.
1. [Tieling, Liaoning Province] Ms. Li Chunhong Held in Custody
Ms. Li Chunhong from Kaiyuan City, Tieling, was reported on February 6, 2010, as she spoke with people about Falun Gong in Kaiyuan City. Kaiyuan police officer Jiao Bin and others arrested her and ransacked her home. They confiscated a notebook computer, cash, Falun Gong materials, a bank deposit card, and a water and electricity debit card. The police forced Ms. Li to pay 100 yuan for a physical examination. Ms. Li's father, Mr. Li Zhongbin, and his oldest daughter have lived away from home, moving from place to place. Ms. Li is now in the Tieling City Detention Center.

2. [Liaoning Province] The Persecution of Ms. Wei Xiuying at the Liaoning Province Women's Prison
Ms. Wei Xiuying from Jincheng, Linghai City, was sentenced to seven years incarceration and held in the Liaoning Province Women's Prison as of September 8, 2009. Her family went to visit her in early February 2010. Ms. Wei is in Ward No.11. Her family requested her release on medical parole because of her poor physical condition. They learned from Ms. Wei that the guards ordered her to strip naked for a "physical examination" and videotaped the whole process without her being aware of it.

3. [Bayanzuoer City, Inner Mongolia] Mr. Ao Deng Arrested
Linhe District Domestic Security Division officers arrested Mongolian national Mr. Ao Deng from Bayanzuoer City on the afternoon of February 7, 2010. It was his second arrest. He is now in the Linhe District Detention Center.
4. [Ning'an, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Ge Zhifu Imprisoned and His Family Implicated
Ning'an Court officials covertly tried Mr. Ge Zhifu at 1:30 p.m. on December 28, 2009. His mother bribed the criminal court judge with 1,000 yuan several days later to obtain the verdict: Mr. Ge was sentenced to three years in prison.
Mr. Ge's wife was unable to bear the blow and suffered a mental breakdown. His father, in his 70s, has suffered from cirrhosis of the liver for over 12 years. There is nobody to take care of him. Mr. Ge's mother has made great efforts to try to help him win the case, but Ning'an Court officials covertly sentenced him without informing his family. It was a severe blow to his mother. She became mentally confused. She died in a car accident in front her home at around 8:00 p.m. on January 8, 2010.
5. [Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Li Shunjiang Abused and Mistreated in Tailai Prison
Mr. Li Shunjiang has been held in Ward No. 9 in Tailai Prison and was placed in solitary confinement on February 7, 2010.
6. [Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia] Ms. Yu Hongling Arrested and Held at the Huhehaote Forced Labor Camp
Ms. Yu Hongling from Linxi County, Chifeng City, was arrested and taken to the Huhehaote Forced Labor Camp in early February 2010. Ms. Liu Changqin was released after having more than 20,000 yuan extorted from her.
7. [Chongqing] Mr. Li Chaosu Held in Custody
Mr. Li Chaosu, who was arrested the afternoon of January 7, 2010, is now at the Jiangbei Detention Center.

8. [Tianjin] Additional Information Regarding the Persecution of Ms. Liu Huijiang and Others
Local police arrested Mr. Yang Qingsheng, Ms. Liu Huijiang, and others at 4:30 p.m. on November 30. 2008. It happened at Mr. Zhang Hongdong's home at the Yutaijiayuan Residential area in Zhangdaokou Village, Dasi Town in the Xiqing District. The police took them to the Hedong District Detention Center. Ms. Liu and Mr. Yang and others were held there for nearly 14 months before Hedong District Court officials secretly sentenced them at the detention center on the morning of January 14, 2010. Their families were not informed about their sentencing. Mr. Yang refused to sign the verdict. Ms. Liu will appeal to defend her innocence.
Mr. Zhang Hongdong is unable to walk because of a deep vein thrombosis (blood clot) in his legs. He was taken to Tianjin Armed Police Hospital and to Tianhe Hospital to be treated and was released on medical parole in November 2009. His family members carried him on their backs to attend the trial held in the Hedong District Detention Center on January 14, 2010. He was kept there. The detention center officials forced his family to pay 6,000 yuan for treating his illness.
Mr. Lu Fuchun was previously released on medical parole. He was deceived into going to the Hedong Detention Center on January 14, 2010, and was held in custody there. The guards extorted 4,000 yuan from his family on February 4, 2010, claiming it was need to have his high blood pressure treated in other hospitals.
9. [Tonghe County, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhang Guizhi and Four Others Arrested
Ms. Zhang Guizhi from Tonghe County was arrested on December 4, 2009, in Harbin City. Participating in the arrest were police officers from Hailaer, Inner Mongolia, and from Harbin. Four other practitioners, including Mr. Yan Jiguo, were also arrested.
10. [Hefei, Anhui Province] Ms. Ji Shuhui and Ms. Ma Huanxiang Arrested
Ms. Ji Shuhui, 54, and Ms. Ma Huanxiang, 59, are retiref from the No. 4 Railway Bureau. They were arrested and held in the bureau's brainwashing center during the present New Year holidays and have already been there almost 20 days.
11. [Yilan County, Heilongjiang Province] Recent Circumstances of Brother and Sister, Mr. Chen Jizhong and Ms. Chen Jihuan
Yilan County Domestic Security Division officers arrested Mr. Chen Jizhong and his sister, Ms. Chen Jihua, from Yonghe Village, Daotaiqiao Town. They placed them under criminal detention for nearly two months, as of February 8, 2010. Under instruction from Yilan County Police Department head Wang Qingfeng and deputy head Li Bohe, officers from the police department's Domestic Security Division and Law Section levied accusations against them and submitted their case to the court.
12. [Yanzhou City, Shandong Province] Additional Information Regarding the Persecution of Mr. Zhang Chao and Ms. Wei Maoxia
Ms. Wei Maoxia and Mr. Zhang Chao, mother and son, are from Yanzhou City. Yanzhou Domestic Security Division officer Song Xinchang and others broke into their home numerous times between August and September 2009 and took them into custody.
Yanzhou City Court officials handed Ms. Wei an eight-year prison term and Mr. Zhang a four-year prison term on December 10, 2009. Mr. Zhang appealed on December 4, 2009, and is now at the Yanzhou Detention Center.
Mr. Zhang's lawyer wanted to visit him on January 14, 2010, at the Yanzhou Detention Center, but the center officials refused his request to meet with his client, because the lawyer did not carry the written verdict document with him to present to the center officials.
The lawyer obtained the verdict on the afternoon of January 15, 2010, and went to visit Mr. Zhang again but was turned down again. The official excuse this time: two lawyers must appear.
13. [Yunnan Province] The Couple Ms. Li Qian and Mr. Li Kunping Given Prison Terms
Ms. Li Qian and her husband, Mr. Li Kunping, were arrested as they spoke with people about Falun Gong in 2008 in Zhuan County. Ms. Li was secretly sentenced to three years in prison on January 19, 2009, and is now in Ward No. 9 in the Yunnan Province No. 2 Women's Prison.
Mr. Li was covertly sentenced to four years in prison and is now in Ward No.1 of the Yunnan Province No.1 Prison. Ms. Li's parents are taking care of the couple's 5-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter. Ms. Li's father, Mr. Li Hanzhong, 80, is retired from the No. 2 Hospital affiliated with Kunming Hospital. Her mother, 80, is a retired official from the Army No. 57317. The two older people are suffering from many illnesses. Her mother has high blood pressure and heart disease and has had a stroke. Ms. Li and her husband had previously taken care of her. Ever since Ms. Li and her husband were sentenced to imprisonment, Ms. Li's mother has had to shoulder all household chores in addition to caring for the grandchildren. Fatigue contributed to another stroke that necessitated emergency medical treatment in a hospital.
