(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 18 cities or counties in 6 provinces. In this report, 18 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 8 practitioners were illegally arrested.
1.[Songyuan City, Jilin Province] Ms. Shao Jihong's Term Extended at the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp
After recently completing a one-year prison term at the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp, Ms. Shao Jihong, a resident of Songyuan City, had her sentence extended by one month for her refusal to give up practicing Falun Gong.
2. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Chen Xinye and Mr. Zhao Zhanbo Appeal Their Verdict
On December 22, 2008, the Huanggu District Court in Shenyang City illegally sentenced Mr. Chen Xinye to four years in prison and Mr. Zhao to two years in prison. The attorney for the practitioners filed an appeal with an intermediate court in Shenyang City. To date, Mr. Chen and Mr. Zhao have been held for over eleven months and their family members have not been allowed to visit them.
3. [Liuhe County, Jilin Province] Mr. Tang Jinli from Beilazi Village in Liunan Township Was Arrested on April 9, 2009
4. [Jixi City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Ma Chuncheng Detained at the Fangzheng County Police Department
Mr. Ma Chuncheng was transferred from the No. 2 Detention Center of the Daowai District Police Department in Harbin City, to the National Security Division of the Fangzheng County Police Department. He is now detained at the Fangzheng County First Detention Center.

5. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Gao Shuyu and Ms. Yue Xinying Facing Sentencing
Ms. Gao Shuyu's court appointed attorney called her family and told them that he could no longer represent her in court. The same day the family received a notice from the criminal division of the Nanguan District Court in Changchun City, informing them that she would be standing trial the following week.
6. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Additional Information about Ms. Zhang Zhiqin's Arrest
One week after Ms. Zhang Zhiqin was arrested in Shenyang City, her elderly father went from Fushun City to Shenyang City to look for her. On April 8, 2009, Ms. Zhang's father and two other relatives went to the Xiaodongmen Police Station in the Dadong District in Shenyang City seeking information on her whereabouts. Ms. Zhang's father and one of her relatives were told to leave the police station but the other relative was held for over two hours without any explanation.

7. [Beijing City] Mr. Liu Yujian Released on Bail for Medical Treatment
Mr. Liu Yujian, a resident from Beijing, was brutally force-fed and shocked with electric batons at the Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp, in the Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region. When he was on the verge of death, the labor camp released him on bail for medical treatment. In an effort to avoid responsibility, the guards called up his wife and told her to pick him up.
On April 10, 2009, Mr. Liu's wife and sister, along with other family members, went to visit him. When they arrived at the prison, a physician and a group leader were already present. The family was told that Mr. Liu was so weak that he needed an IV injection on his way to the prison.
8. [Beijing] Mr. Bai Shaohua Released
Mr. Bai Shaohua was released from the Baimiao Forced Labor Camp on March 27, 2009. For over thirteen months he was tortured both physically and mentally. The guards from Huairou District in Beijing hung him up by a metal chain and beat him for five days and five nights. To protest his imprisonment and abuse, Mr. Bai went on a hunger strike. After being brutally force-fed on numerous occasions, he developed gastric atrophy and experienced temporary paralysis in his lower back.
9. [Mengyin County, Shandong Province] Additional Information on the Persecution of Ms. Xie Shunfang
Ms. Xie Shunfang, 66, is from Nanyu Village in Yedian Town, Mengyin County. On the morning of March 17, 2009, officers from the Yedian Town Police Station stormed into Ms. Xie's home and ransacked it. They stole some of her personal possessions including a DVD player, two MP3 players, one MP4 player, two boom boxes, one cell phone, and 610 yuan in cash.
While ransacking Ms. Xie's home, the officers used a leather belt to tie her hands behind her back so that she would not escape. The officers detained her for two weeks and charged her 575 yuan for "living expenses" while she was being detained.
10. [Xinji City, Hebei Province] Ms. Sun Meiqiao Arrested
On April 8, 2009, Ms. Sun Meiqiao, from Jiuzhai Village in Xinji City, was arrested by officers from the National Security Division in Xinji City. Her home was later ransacked and various personal items were taken away.

12. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Mr. Zhu Xiaodong Unlawfully Sentenced to Twenty-One Months in a Forced Labor Camp
Mr. Zhu Xiaodong, a resident of Jinan City, was arrested and detained on March 31, 2009. Without notifying his family, the guards transferred him to the Wangchun Forced Labor Camp nine days later. While imprisoned, he was severely tortured.
13. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Ren Aihua and Ms. Sui Guifen Arrested; Their Whereabouts Unknown
Ms. Ren Aihua and Ms. Sui Huifen are from the Zhifu District in Yantai City. On April 8, 2009, they were arrested and had their homes ransacked by local 610 Office agents. Their whereabouts are unknown.
14. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Mr. Chen Handong Held at the Jinhu County Detention Center
Mr. Chen Handong, from Chenqiao Town, Jinhu County in Huai'an City, Jiangsu Province, was taken to the Qingdao Railway Detention Center on April 4, 2009 and his family was forbidden to visit with him. When Mr. Chen's wife and son found out that he had been on a hunger strike for three days to protest his imprisonment and abuse, they went to visit him and to drop off some personal belongings of his. Mr. Chen is currently being detained at the Jinhu County Detention Center.
15. [Tanghai County, Hebei Province] Mr. Li Bin Taken into Custody
On April 3, 2009, twelve plainclothes officers from the Tanghai County Police Department stormed into Mr. Li Bin's home. After ransacking his residence, they took away his Dafa books and other personal items. On April 9, 2009, he was arrested and later detained at the Tangshan City First Detention Center.

16. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] Ms. Chi Guiying Arrested
Ms. Chi Guiying, from Wanquan County in the Zhangjiakou area, went to visit her mother in Zhangbei County on April 3, 2009. That same afternoon, several plainclothes police officers suddenly stormed into the mother's home and tried to arrest Ms. Chi without a warrant. Her family members intervened and forced the officers to leave.
On April 7, 2009, Ms. Chi and three of her young relatives were riding in a taxi when they were pulled over and arrested at the boundary of Wanquan County on Route 207. After Ms. Chi was dragged out of the car, the officers pinched and kicked her. She was later detained at the Zhangjiakou City Detention Center. Her three relatives were released after her family paid 8,000 yuan. Even the cab driver was detained for fifteen days and his cab was impounded.
17. [ Handan City, Hebei Province] Additional Information about Ms. Ge Hefei
Ms. Ge Hefei, in her twenties, is a resident of Xiedian Village in Maoyanbao Township, Feixiang County in Handan City. On November 15, 2008, she was arrested by officers from the Xin'an Town Police Station in Feixiang County while distributing Falun Gong leaflets at Bailuobao in Hebei. She was taken to the Feixiang County Detention Center, where she remains until this day.

18. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Additional Information about Mr. Luo Zhijian
After Mr. Luo Zhijian from Tangshan City went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, he was held at the Tang Steel Design Institute from September 11, 1999 to sometime in March 2000. The only time he was allowed to leave his room was when he needed to use the restroom or when he went out to buy a meal in the cafeteria. The only piece of furniture in his room was a small chair. There was no bed for him to sleep on nor was there any air conditioning.
Mr. Luo was arrested and detained at the Tangshan City Second Detention Center from July to August 2000. After starting a hunger strike to protest his imprisonment and abuse, he was forcibly taken to the Ankang Hospital to receive intravenous therapy. One week later, his family was presented with a bill for 2,000 yuan to cover the "medical treatment" he received while at the hospital.
Mr. Luo was later deceived into going to the Tangshan City Legal Education School (brainwashing center) where he was subjected to forced brainwashing from April to July 2001.
Mr. Luo was sentenced to forced labor from July to November 2001. The guards tortured him by making him stand for long periods of time without sleep.
After being arrested at the Tangshan City Brainwashing Center, he went on a hunger strike for 90 days (from July to September, 2004), to protest his imprisonment.
Mr. Luo was arrested and sentenced to three years in prison at the Tangshan City First Detention Center on July 6, 2008.
19. [Yangquan City, Shanxi Province] Ms. Gao Lifang and Ms. Ouyang Hongmei Sentenced
During the 2008 Olympics, Ms. Gao Lifang and Ms. Ouyang Hongmei were arrested in Yangquan City. Instead of being released after the Olympics were over, they were both sentenced to four years in prison. They were also required to pay an additional fee to cover the cost of their detention. Mr. Li Zening was also arrested during this same period and was detained at the Youlougou Men's Detention Center.
20. [Shanxi Province] Ms. Wu Mei Was Taken to the Yuci City Women's Prison
In September 2002, Ms. Wu Mei was arrested by local police officers while preparing Falun Gong leaflets at the North China Institute of Technology in Shanxi Province. She was sentenced to 8 years in prison in February 2004 and taken to the Shanxi Province Yuci City Women's Prison.
21. [Chongqing City] Mr. Kuang Shitai Was Forced to Leave Home
Mr. Kuang Shitai, from Tongnan County in Chongqing City, was coming home from the local market on March 28, 2009, when three people stormed into his home and interrogated him. Shortly after, they ransacked his residence and stole all of his Dafa books and over 1,000 yuan in cash. While they were rummaging through his belongings, Mr. Kuang managed to escape. He was forced to leave home and become homeless in order to avoid further persecution and possible arrest.
Three members of his family were repeatedly arrested, detained, and sentenced to forced labor for practicing Falun Gong. His wife, Ms. Guo Sulan passed away in late 2003 as a result of being persecuted. Since 2001, his daughter, Ms. Kuang Wenying was forced to leave home to avoid being arrested. When Mr. Kuang's original prison term expired in November or December of 2004, he too was forced to leave home to avoid being arrested.
