(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 14 cities or counties in 10 provinces. Twelve practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 13 practitioners were illegally arrested.
1. [Shanghai] Ms. Li Shuqin Arrested
Ms. Li Shuqin is a retired professor from Shanghai Second Medical University. She talked about Falun Gong and exposed the persecution to her colleagues during a group outing on April 22, 2009. One of her colleagues reported her to the police who arrested her after she returned home.
2. [Anguo City, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhao Yuran and Ms. Li Xiaoying Persecuted Again
Someone reported Ms. Zhao Yuran and Ms. Li Xiaoying from Anguo City to the police when they were exposing the Communist Party's crimes to the public on April 30, 2009. Wang Xianghui and other officers from the Qiaonan Police Department in Anguo City arrested. They took them to the Qiaonan Police Station and eventually transferred them to the Anguo City Police Department Domestic Security Division. The practitioners returned home later that evening with rescue efforts from family members and fellow practitioners.
Officials from the Domestic Security Division delivered subpoenas to the two practitioners' homes on May 8, 2009, which summoned the practitioners to the division the morning of May 11, 2009.

3. [Shaoyang City, Hunan Province] Mr. Wang Zhengang Taken to the Shaoyang City No. 1 Detention Center

The police arrested three practitioners on May 7, 2009 near Yuhuangding in Lushunkou, Dalian City. Of those, Mr. Ji Yihong and Ms. Xue Lanhui's homes were ransacked on May 8. They were taken to the Fushun Brainwashing Center in Liaoning Province the afternoon of May 8. The other practitioner refused to give her name and has been held at the Lushunkou District Domestic Security Division in Dalian City.

5. [Shandong Province] Ms. Xia Cuiying Arrested
The police arrested Xia Cuiying from Laixi between noon and 2:00 p.m. on May 11, 2009. She is now held at the Laixi Custody Center.
6. [Maoming City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Yang Junxi and Ms. Guo Xiuqun Arrested
Jiang Chenglin and several other officers from the Maoshihua Police Department arrested 70-year-old Ms. Yang Junxi from Maoming City on May 7, 2009. She is now held at the Hexi 610 Brainwashing Center in Maoming City. Practitioner Ms. Guo Xiuqun is also held there.
7. [Xichang City, Sichuan Province] Additional Information Regarding the Persecution of Ms. Gao Deyu
Someone reported 68-year-old Ms. Gao Deyu to police. She lives near Division 3 at the Zhoujian Company. The arrest happened at 7:00 p.m. on May 8, 2009 as she spoke with people about Falun Gong in Datongmen, Xichang City. Officers from the Dongcheng Police Station in Xichang City participated in the arrest. They held her for 15 days. She is now locked up at the Tuohuang Detention Center in Xichang City.
Another elderly practitioner, Ms. Wang, was also arrested. The police punched her face and made her eyes swell. She has returned home.

8. [Beihai City, Guangxi Autonomous Region] Mr. Xu Jiafu, Ms. Zheng Zhengxiang and Mr. Shi Xuan Arrested
Officials from the Gaode Town government, from the police station, the 610 Office, and the Political and Judicial Committee forced their way inside Mr. Xu Jiafu's home. It happened at 7:00 a.m. on May 11, 2009 when Xu's son opened the door to go to school. They arrested Xu Jiafu and his wife Zheng Zhengxiang. (They had arrested Xu Jiafu's sister Xu Jiayan on April 22, 2009). They also arrested practitioner Mr. Shi Xuan the same morning.
9. [Cangzhou City, Hebei Province] Mr. Wang Jiasheng and Wife Tang Jianying Sentenced to Prison
Officers from the Yunhe District Police Department in Cangzhou City arrested Mr. Wang Jiasheng the morning of June 5, 2008 when he was shopping at the Suning Electronics Store. They arrested his wife Tang Jianying at noon. The couple has been held in police custody for more than ten months. Yunhe District Court agents in Cangzhou City held a secret trial on April 11, 2009. The judge sentenced Wang Jiasheng to ten years in prison, and Tang Jianying to three years in prison.

10. [Hulin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Ren Shuqin Arrested in Beijing
The police arrested Ms. Ren Shuqin from Hulin City, Heilongjiang Province in a Beijing/Haidian District supermarket on May 6, 2009 when she spoke to someone about Falun Gong. The police took her to the district's Sijiqing Police Station.
11. [Yongqing County, Hebei Province] Persecution of Ms. Zhang Chunying
Liu Guangzhi, Yongqing County Police Department Political and Security Section head and other officials joined officers from the Longhuzhuang Township Police Station. They arrested Ms. Zhang Chunying from her work at Longhuzhuang School the morning of April 24, 2009. They sent her to Langfang City Brainwashing Center, where she remains to this day. They also ransacked her home. Han Zhiguang from the Brainwashing Center, Liu Guangzhi and other officials are demanding 30,000 yuan from Zhang Chunying's family in exchange for her release.
12. [Hunan Province] Ms. Jiang Deying Again Sent to a Forced Labor Camp
Associate professor Ms. Jiang Deying at Hunan Normal University was taken to the Baimalong Women's Forced Labor Camp in Zhuzhou City on May 11, 2009, to be held for two years. She was savagely tortured at the same labor camp in 2006.
13. [Shanghai] Ms. Shen Xiufang Arrested
Officers from the Xinzhen Road Police Station in the Minhang District, Shanghai arrested Ms. Shen Xiufang the afternoon of May 2, 2009. She has not returned home.
14. [Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region] 45-year-old Mr. Ning Lihong from Xizi Township, Ningcheng was arrested on May 12, 2009.
15. [Beijing] Mr. Zhang Lijun Arrested - 2008 Information
Secret agents arrested Beijing Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Lijun from his father-in-law's home in Jiagedaqi, Daxinganling/Heilongjiang Province in June 2008. He was held at Jiagedaqi Detention Center for two days. His current whereabouts are unknown.
16. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Ms. Feng Xiaomei's Family Harassed and Followed by Police
Ms. Feng Xiaomei from Shijiazhuang City has been on hunger strike for 13 days. Not until seven days after her arrest was her family informed of her whereabouts. Feng Xiaomei's mother and two sons have received telephone threats and are followed when they go out.
