HONOLULU--The New York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts 2009 World Tour performance in Hawaii has drawn many artists to the Concert Hall of the Neal Blaisdell Center in Honolulu. One of them is Ms. Xin Xing, a Chinese dancer and teacher.
Xin Xing is the founder of a dance school in Hawaii. She received training from the Beijing Dance Academy for 20 years.
Ms. Xin received 20 years of training at the Beijing Dance
Academy and currently runs a dance school in Hawaii. In the afternoon on March
31, she brought several students to watch Shen Yun's performance. She had heard
good things about Shen Yun and was determined to come and see it. "I am
very excited that I got to see the show. I hope Shen Yun can come often and
bring different programs."
Ms. Xin believed Shen Yun was the best professional Chinese dance group in the
United States. She loved the dance being so classical and the costumes which
were elegant. "The choreography is especially exquisite that matches the
flow of the music. It's wonderful and I give them 100 points!" she said.
"The show brought the Chinese people their traditional culture. It is so
successful that it attracts many westerners. I have never heard the applause so
loud."
Ms. Xin admired Shen Yun's artists for being so young, full of life and
professional. The show inspired her enthusiasm for dancing even more. "The
artists received traditional training. I can tell that several of them are truly
outstanding. The female artists have completely manifested the traditional
beauty of Chinese women."
Ms. Xin was most impressed by the piece Welcoming Spring. "The
dance presents the charm of yangko (a popular rural folk dance in China) and the
music uses a lot of flute. It gives me a feeling of lightness and that spring is
coming."
Ms. Xin received training in folk dance and Chinese dance when she was in
Beijing. She felt the dances she learned back then did not contain the meaning
of God and Buddha. "It is different overseas because these ideas can be
expressed freely. In fact, many Chinese people still believe in Buddha no matter
where they are. In my point of view, spiritual belief is beneficial for
mankind."
