(Clearwisdom.net) Famous for its Semper Opera House, Art Gallery in the Zwinger, and Rafael's Sistine Madonna, Dresden hosted the Shen Yun Performing Arts 2009 World Tour performance at the Kulturpalast Dresden on April 14. The audience was transported to the magical heavenly realms of ancient China.

Ms. Gruene said she comes from White Russia. She teaches dance in Dresden, the cultural heart of Germany. Therefore, she was very interested in attending the show on April 14.

Ms. Gruene prepares and instructs children as young as three in dance. She shared, "Classical dance requires much discipline, much work, blood and sweat. [This performance] is good. Everything is flawless technically, first class, perfect!"

Of the dances in the show, Ms. Gruene noted the choreography and its "appealing patterns" but hesitated to share too much. She said she felt it was a little difficult to express herself because German wasn't her first language.

She said, "I liked them all," adding that she did enjoy it tremendously due to the colors of the costumes, the music, its overall feeling, "the joyousness of it all."

Among the audience was also Klaus, who has played the violin since childhood. Now at 73 years of age, he believes his "best years for playing the violin are over." He played in Leipzig in the orchestra of the world renowned Gewandhaus. He also worked as a teacher in Leipzig and Dresden where he taught the violin. Klaus was very interested in the orchestra and looked closely at the instruments.

Klaus had experienced Chinese instruments before and he remembered a Chinese student many years ago in Leipzig. "There was also a Chinese student who played the clarinet. He then went back to China to the Beijing Opera--during the cultural revolution he then had to help out during intermission, behind the opera, to melt iron ..."

Klaus feels that the Chinese instruments are, "even for European ears, always very interesting. Now you can still hear it ringing through, but now it is a considerable melding that took place. It is actually not that strange to our European ears anymore."

Klaus also appreciated the Shen Yun dancers. "That is very interesting and a real treat, an enjoyment for the eyes--as it were, a feast. Everything was very impressive. The costumes and also the movements of the dancers. I loved those wonderful costumes those ladies wore and their graceful movements and I admire the acrobatics of the men."

Shen Yun Performing Arts is reviving the ancient culture and traditions of China's 5,000-year-old civilization through stories, myths and legends told through Chinese classical dance, a live orchestra with Western and Chinese instruments, state of the art digital backdrops and masterful solo singers.
