Among the audience was Councilman Leon Tejada who highly rated the show, saying, "On a scale of one to ten, I would give the show a fifteen, for sure!"
"On a Scale of One to Ten, I Would Give the Show a Fifteen"

"And I have to send a message to the people who missed the show, and that is, the next time it comes to Providence don't miss the show. It is a really beautiful show and I congratulate you, I congratulate the company for the great, great performance."
Councilman Tejada was deeply and visibly touched by the show, saying, "It's just wonderful. It touched my heart, it touched my sentiments. The beauty of human beings, the color, the beauty of the Chinese culture, it is unbelievable. The show has touched me that way. The whole show, from the beginning to the end, impressed me."
The Councilman said that three words came to mind after viewing the show: "hope, compassion, and beauty. Now I can see the beauty of the human being in a more ... I can see it clearly now. The interaction between human beings and the Heavenly figure in the show was unbelievable."
He felt that the DPA show carries a message of hope to a troubled world. "In a word: everywhere you go there are problems, economic crisis and people have lost hope. But this show shows you--for those who had the opportunity to watch it--that there is a light after the end of the tunnel. The show is a light after the tunnel, for sure."
He continued, "And the word of hope the word of beauty, is all present in the show. Not only does the DPA show you the value of the Chinese culture, but it also shows you the value of the word hope, the value of the word beauty, and the value of the word compassion."
When asked what he thought of the show's presentation of Chinese culture, he said, "Unbelievable. They did a wonderful job out there. They presented the culture without having to say a word; they presented the whole Chinese culture in a two-hour show without the need to say a single word. It's unbelievable. It's beautiful."
The reporter asked him how he would rate the show, he replied, "From one to ten, I would give it a fifteen, for sure. Just wonderful, just wonderful."
He said he would definitely encourage others to attend next year's show. "The whole community, you have to come here not only for one presentation. I think you have to come for seven nights, not just one night.
"So I will bring my whole family, my friends, my co-workers, everybody will be here. It is a wonderful show. Especially now--since there are so many problems in the world--this show brings you a little more peace, a little bit more comfort to your soul. It is unbelievable," he said.
Tejada said that he felt that the show conveyed a refreshing message of hope. "I can value the word hope more, now. The world that we live in now is losing hope. The show is, like I said, the light at the end of the tunnel.
"Maybe you are losing your home now, because you don't have the money or you don't have a job. Maybe you're losing a lot of things, but don't ever lose your hope. There is always something after ... maybe you go in the tunnel and it is dark, but there is always a light at the end of the tunnel."
The Councilman commented on the DPA's masterful choreography and dance, saying, "It's unbelievable. I said to my daughter before, 'It is so perfectly synchronized that it is unbelievable.' Sometimes you believe in both the reality and fiction part of the show and you just don't know which one is which because the performances are so perfectly synchronized. The dancers are so beautiful. The way that they perform is so perfect. You get--in other words--impressed."
When the reporter asked him what he thought about the way the orchestra combined Western and Chinese music, he replied, "I almost cried. I almost cried. It's unbelievable. In one word I would say it is perfection."
Councilman Tejada commented on the musical aspect of the show, saying, "The music is a language of the world. I mean, there are so many languages that the people of the world speak, millions of people out there, thousands of languages, and the music is the language that brings us together. It is unbelievable. It is the language of the human being."
Mr. Tejada's daughter, who also attended the show, said she was "totally blown away." "I had never seen anything like that, ever, and I go to plays all of the time, musicals, everything, and I have ever seen anything like that. It was great. It was like Dad said, 'perfection.'"
Her favorite performance was "Welcoming Spring." "It was so beautiful, and the 'Dance of the Snow-Capped Mountain,' I like those. They were really nice. I like the way that they presented themselves. The dancers don't ever say anything and you already understand how they are, how they feel," she said.
