Ms. Lisa Tao, Director of the Maryland Branch of Global Service Center for Quitting the CCP, said, "For more than four years, at many scenic sites from the White House, the Capitol, the Aviation and Air Space Museum to the Chinese Embassy, volunteers of the service center have been working hard to explain the facts, distribute the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party and promote quitting the CCP. The CCP has never stopped persecuting Falun Gong
Mr. Chen Jun, Liaison of Washington DC for the Global Rescue Falun Gong Practitioners Being Persecuted in China, gave a speech, "Just two weeks ago, 34-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Xu Dawei of Liaoning Province died from persecution on February 16. He was imprisoned in four prisons for eight years. Within two weeks after he was released from Dongling Prison, Liaoning Province, he died. Practitioner Hou Lihua of Mudanjiang, Heilongjiang Province died on February 14, 2009 after he was taken away by police while he was at work. He was tortured to emaciation and was extremely weak.
"Since the initiation of the persecution in 1999, the CCP has never stopped persecuting Falun Gong. In 2008, the CCP did not keep its promise to the International Olympic Committee to improve human rights, but escalated its persecution. Last year, more than 8000 practitioners were arrested and imprisoned in jails and labor camps. Among them 104 practitioners died as a result of persecution. Many of them were tortured to death after being imprisoned for several weeks, days, or even hours. At least 3251 practitioners were tortured to death during the last ten years. More than 100,000 people were imprisoned in jails and labor camps. Tens of thousands of practitioners were sent to mental hospitals and forcefully injected nerve-damaging drugs."
Patriotism does not mean loyalty to the CCP
Mr. Su Jianyue is an initiator for the Chinese Multicolor Movement. He came to the US from China five years ago to pursue his education. He read the Nine Commentaries. He said, "I was impressed with the Nine Commentaries. Though I knew about the CCP since my father and grandfather were persecuted by the CCP, I had a deeper understanding of the nature of the CCP only after reading the Nine Commentaries. I came to know why the CCP is so evil." He renounced the CCP's Youth League on the website of The Epoch Times.
Mr. Su said, "Many people are brainwashed by the CCP. They hear only one voice and have no other means to obtain information. When thinking carefully and looking from another angle, one can reject the CCP's lies and understand its evil nature. The CCP cannot represent China."
He said, "More and more people have come to recognize the CCP's true nature and differentiate the CCP from China. Patriotism does not mean loyalty to the CCP."
Renouncing the CCP benefits society
Human rights lawyer Ye Ning in New York and Washington DC, initiator of the Free China Movement, said, "Renouncing the CCP benefits Chinese and the whole human society. The movement of renouncing the CCP is a non-violent means to terminate a totalitarian regime. We believe that the CCP regime in China will disintegrate in the near future."
Mr. Ye said some of his customers from China told him that very large numbers of people are quitting the CCP and its affiliated organizations.
People who quit the CCP are making history for China
Ms. Giao Nguyen, Vice Director of the Vietnamese Community Association for Washington DC, Virginia and Maryland
Ms. Giao Nguyen, Vice Director of Vietnamese Community Association for Washington DC, Virginia and Maryland, said, "I think Chinese people have very good culture. It is one of the most ancient cultures and respected by people in other countries. Chinese people are full of love. But after 1949, the CCP took power. People suffered a miserable life. In many aspects, no real Chinese culture is shown. It is regrettable that Chinese traditional culture was destroyed by the CCP."
She continued, "Fifty million Chinese people quitting the CCP is encouraging. Under the CCP's tight control, it is hard to do that. Chinese people are courageous because they expose the CCP's lies, stand up, and quit the CCP. They are making history for China."
Chinese and foreign tourists support the movement to quit the CCP
There were many tourists at the national mall on the day of the rally and many of them stopped to show their support of the event.
Mr. Wu and his wife of Maryland stopped by the rally venue for quite a while. Mr. Wu said he had heard of the Nine Commentaries and quitting the CCP. "Such large scale events should be held more. The CCP is very corrupt. Under the CCP's control, the common citizens have no hope."
A tourist from China passed by and told the reporter, "In China, the media blockade is very tight. But sometimes I could receive information about the Nine Commentaries and quitting the CCP. I read all of them."
A professor from Argentina said, "Such an event is very important. Letting people under CCP control have freedom is very important. Let them express what they think and have human rights. I support Chinese people to quit the CCP."
Carlos is a student in a university in Ohio. He said, "I just passed by and saw the rally. I support it very much. As long as the communist system exists in the world, we cannot live in a safe place with human rights respected. As long as people are allowed to express, wherever they are and however many of them, their voice can be heard across the world. We must take action and cannot let such persecution occur in modern times."
Roger is a realtor in Washington DC. He was astonished by the re-enactment of the CCP's torture means. He said it was his first time to learn that the CCP harvests organs from living Falun Gong practitioners. He thought it was too horrible and cruel.
Mary is studying in a university in southern China. She said she heard of the persecution of Falun Gong from her advisor. Friends and relatives of teachers in the university were persecuted for their belief. They were dismissed from jobs, forced to divorce, or even faced the danger of losing their lives. Mary said that the fact that so many people participated in the rally is powerful and lets American people know what is really happening in China. She said she fully supports those who stand up for freedom in China. She thought the rally is helpful for those who being persecuted in China. She hopes that the American government can play a more active role and work with Chinese people to realize reform.
