(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 37 cities or counties in 15 provinces. In this report, 17 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 49 practitioners were illegally arrested.

3. [Xiyang County, Shanxi Province] Mr. Jiao Jianming and His Wife Are Missing
Police followed Mr. Jiao Jianming and his wife from Jingyang Village, Yetou Town, Xiyang County, arrested them, and ransacked their home on August 3, 2008. The couple's whereabouts are unknown.
4. [Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province] Mr. Lin Zhengzheng and Mr. Hou Huaning Sentenced to One and a Half Years of Forced Labor
5. [Zhengzhou City, Henan Province] Mr. Zhang Sixin Arrested
Mr. Zhang Sixin had been sentenced to one year of forced labor after the persecution began on July 20, 1999. Seven officers, including Yang Jie from the Luohe City Domestic Security Division, arrested Mr. Zhang in Zhengzhou City on July 20, 2008. They ransacked his home and confiscated a computer. He is being held in the Luohe City Detention Center.

6. [Zhaluteqi County, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region] Ms. Li Ying Arrested at Her Home on August 8, 2008
7. [Guan County, Shandong Province] Several Practitioners Arrested
Officials from the Jia Town Government in Guan County and local police officers arrested several practitioners and ransacked their homes on July 6-9, 2008. The arrested practitioners included Mr. Jing Zhaowei, Ms. Cui Qiaolan, Mr. Yu Huaishan, Ms. Song Fenglan and her sister-in-law Ms. Li. They are being held in the county 610 Office brainwashing center. Ms. Jing has been sentenced to forced labor.
Personnel from the Jia Town Police Station have arrested Ms. Song and her husband several times since 1999. Her husband had been sentenced to two years of forced labor. Ms. Song was several times tortured in a local police station, in a detention center and also at the 610 Office brainwashing center in 2001. She had a mental collapse as a result of being persecuted.
8. [Chongqing] Ms. Dai Wenli Arrested
Ms. Dai Wenli, Mr. Li Xiangdong's mother, is about 60 years old and lives in the Jiulongpo District of Chongqing. District police department personnel arrested her at her home on July 24, 2008. Her bedridden husband and two grandsons, eight and five years old, were left at home. Ms. Dai is being held in the district's detention center. Her son Li Xiangdong is still being held in the Danzishi Prison's No. 8 Ward in Chongqing. He was sentenced to 15 years of forced labor in 2001 for telling people about Falun Gong.

9. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Ms. Ran Ling Arrested
Ms. Ran Ling from Qingdao City was reported to police and then arrested on August 1, 2008. She is being held in the Dashan Detention Center.
10. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Yang Jianzhong Arrested
Mr. Yang Jianzhong, an employee from the Wenjiang District No. 7111 Factory, was arrested at 9:00 a.m. on August 7, 2008. His whereabouts are unknown. The 69 year-old practitioner, an engineer in the factory, had been named "Outstanding Engineer in Sichuan Province."

11. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Mr. Sun Xingkun and Ms. Liu Jianying Arrested
Police arrested Mr. Sun Xingkun from Zhangguo Village, Jiacun Township, Wangdu County on July 29, 2008. Ms. Liu Jianying, from Dongxin Village, Jiacun Township, was arrested at her home at 2:00 p.m. that same day. They are being held in the county's detention center.
12. [Jilin Province] Mr. Li Wenjun Held in a Detention Center
Personnel from the Gaoxin Police Station arrested Mr. Li Wenjun and put him into a detention center. His family's visits have been refused. His family was recently informed that he had been sentenced to one year and three months of forced labor.

14. [Jilin Province] Several Practitioners Arrested
Several practitioners from the suburban areas of Tonghua County were arrested and put into the county's brainwashing center. They included 42-year-old Mr. Wang Xuewu from Sankeyushu Village, 38-year-old Mr. Xu Baojin from Chiban Village, 40-year-old Ms. Lan Xinhua, an employee of the county's financial department, Mr. Wang Chengfa from Yinggebu Qingsheng Village, Kuaida County, and two practitioners from Guanghua Town.
Officers from the Maoshan Community recently arrested Mr. Wang Haibo from Tonghua County.
15. [Huizhou City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Tian Xiuyan, an Employee at the Guangmei Shantie Hospital, Was Arrested on August 1, 2008, but Her Whereabouts Are Unknown
16. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Four Practitioners Including Ms. Sun Jingfang and Ms. Xu Arrested and Their Homes Ransacked
17. [Tianjin] Ms. He Daihong Arrested
Police from the Hexi District arrested Ms. He Daihong from the Hexi District, Tianjin City on the morning of August 7, 2008. They seized her after ransacking her home and confiscated some Dafa books, a picture with Master's image and a satellite dish. She is being held in the district's detention center.
18. [Nengjiang County, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Gu Jinglan's Home Ransacked
Officers from the Nengjiang County Police Department arrested 35-year-old Ms. Gu Jinglan at 9:00 a.m. on August 4, 2008. Personnel from the Dongfeng Police Station ransacked her home and confiscated a copy of Zhuan Falun and a picture with Master's image. Ms. Gu was released later.

Personnel from the Leling City 610 Office arrested Mr. Ma Song and confiscated a computer on August 7, 2008.

Mr. Lin Yousheng was arrested in May 2008 for making Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials. He is being held in the Nanning City No.1 Detention Center.

22. [Dongying City, Shandong Province] Persecution of Ms. Wang Mingyun - Belated News
Ms. Wang Mingyun, Mr. Zhang Aiquan's wife, is a former employee of the Dongxin Oil Extraction Factory's Inspection Section in the Shengli Oil Field. Personnel from the Hengtai County Police Department colluded with officers from the Binhai Police Station. They arrested Ms. Wang and her husband on the afternoon of May 13, 2005. The county's court agents sentenced Mr. Zhang to eight years in prison and Ms. Wang to seven and a half years in prison on July 28, 2006. Mr. Zhang and Ms. Wang are being held in the Jinan City Prison and the Shandong Province Women's Prison, respectively.
Ms. Wang has hypertension symptoms and is a patient in the Shandong Province Police Hospital. Police ordered Ms. Wang's family to pay the medical fees.
23. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Mr. Yu Wei Held in the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp
Mr. Yu Wei from Weifang City has been transferred from a detention center into the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp on August 8, 2008. Mr. Yu was arrested from his home on July 9, 2008. He has been persecuted many times since 2001.

Mr. Cao Changling, in his 70s, from Wuhan City went missing on August 8, 2008.

26. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Mr. Qi Guochao Arrested
Mr. Qi Guochao from Nong'an City was arrested at his home at 8:00 p.m. on June 26, 2008. The police arrested him and his son and confiscated all of their Dafa books, a color printer, 1,400 yuan in cash and three cell phones. Mr. Qi is being held in the county's detention center.
27. [Sunwu County, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Jiang Yuzhu Arrested
Ms. Jiang Yuzhu was arrested on July 21, 2008. Police ransacked her home and confiscated many Dafa books and an MP3 player.

Personnel from the Zhengzhou City No. 27 Police Department arrested six practitioners from Houzhai Township in the No. 27 District, Zhengzhou City on the afternoon of July 9, 2008. They are Mr. Guo Shuxin, Mr. Guo Chuanjun, Mr. Guo Baojun, Ms. Chen Yongzhu, Ms. Zhang Xiaosan and Mr. Guo Junqiang. Mr. Guo Chuanjun, Mr. Guo Baojun, Ms. Zhang Xiaosan and Mr. Guo Junqiang are being held at the No. 3 Forced Labor Camp for a one-year term.

29. [Jinyun County, Zhejiang Province] Ms. Ying Yujuan Arrested
Personnel from the Huzhen Town Police Station ransacked Ms. Ying Yujuan's home in Shuikou Village, Qianlu Township, Jinyun County on June 25, 2008. They confiscated a computer and several Dafa books. Seven officers from the police station arrested Ms. Ying and her daughter Ms. Yu Lizhen, and confiscated three cell phones at 12:40 p.m. on July 23, 2008. Ms. Yu was held for seven hours and then released.

30. [Mengyin County, Shandong Province] Mr. Yang Guiquan Persecuted
Personnel from the Yedian Town Police Station arrested Mr. Yang Guiquan from his home in Shangdongmen Village, Yedian Town, Mengyin County on the morning of June 17, 2008. They extorted 5,000 yuan from him and then released him.

Policeman Jia Lichao extorted Ms. Cai Chunmian from Sishang Village, Nanzhiqiu Town, Xinji City out of 5,000 yuan and confiscated a computer. They arrested her and put her into the city's detention center on August 4, 2008.

Personnel from the Shidao Police Station arrested Ms. Lian Guilan from Rongcheng City at 10:00 a.m. on August 6, 2008. They ransacked her home and put her into the city's detention center.

Personnel from the Linyin Street Police Station arrested Ms. Liu Hongli and Ms. Wang Danfeng from the Fengrun District, Tangshan City at a morning market on the morning of August 8, 2008. Policeman Chen Weiguo ransacked Ms. Liu's home and confiscated a computer and some Dafa truth-clarifying materials. The women are being held in the district's detention center.

Personnel from the Rongcheng County Police Department confiscated a satellite dish from Ms. Zhou Sunjun's home in Lilang Village, Pingwang Township, and one from Ms. Chen Aiping's home in Liutong Village. They also attempted to confiscate a satellite dish from Mr. Wang Zhenfa's home.
