Ms. Gao Jie, 53, was a teacher at the Shuangzhan Elementary School in Yunmen Township, Hechuan District, Chongqing City. She began to practice Falun Gong in 1993, and benefited from the practice physically and mentally. After July 20, 1999 when the CCP regime launched a campaign to eradicate Falun Gong, she has spent most of her time in prison. In June 20, 2003, Ms. Gao was given a five-year sentence and served the term in Yongchuan Forced Labor Camp. Now, she has again been sent to a brainwashing center located in Yubei District, Chongqing City.
In December 1999, Ms. Gao went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, where she was arrested and detained for two weeks. In March 2000, she was arrested again, taken to Hechuan Detention Center and sentenced to one and a half years of forced labor in Maojiashan. However, just as soon as she was released in September 2001, she was arrested for a third time and locked up in Yunmen Special Education School, where she walked away with righteous thoughts but had to become homeless to avoid further persecution. In June 20, 2003, she was again illegally sentenced for five years and served the term in the Yongchuan Forced Labor Camp, during which time she was repeatedly tortured, including being hung up and beaten. She was also forced to get divorced, her mother passed away due to the persecution, and her father was forced to renounce his practice of Falun Gong.
According to Chinese law, she should have been set free unconditionally on June 20, 2008. The local government officials also informed her family to pick her up from the jail in Yongchuan with local police on that day.
However, On June 20, 2008, Ms. Gao Jie's family waited from morning to 4:00 PM, but nobody gave them a word, so the next day they went to the township Police Station, where police officer Wang Xuejun told them that he knew nothing about Gao Jie's case since the director Zhang Yong was not in the office. So Gao's family could not do anything but go to the township government. Official Gao Qun said that Ms. Gao Jie had been transferred to a facility in the Yubei District, Chongqing city following an order from Chongqing City's Politics & Law Committee. Gao Qun added that Ms. Gao Jie needed some rest because she had to "stabilize her thoughts." The center was located in a resort, they were told, and that the conditions there were very good, do not worry about her... etc. They were told that she would be home three months later. He also noted that the township had to pay 3,000 yuan for her living expenses every month, and the whole thing was determined by his superiors.
On June 23, Ms. Gai Jie's family went to see Zhang Yong, the director of the Township Police Station, and asked for her release. Zhang Yong said that it was determined by the Hechuan Politics & Law Committee, and he emphasized several times that Gao Jie was steadfast in her practice and "hard to break."
