(Clearwisdom.net) Many people in the circles of art, education, medicine and politics were drawn to the Sydney Entertainment Centre to watch the second show of the Chinese Spectacular by Divine Performing Arts (DPA) on April 3, 2008.
Mr. Zhou Chengyuan, a nineteen-year-old artist from Shanghai, kept saying with great enthusiasm, "Wonderful! Gorgeous! All the performances were great! Very moving! The show was beautiful, solemn, but filled with energy. The music and dance were fascinating! I really thought celestial maidens had come down to earth!"
Mr. Zhou is a graduate of the Shanghai Institute of Industrial Arts. He saw the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular last year and thought it was outstanding and authentic classical Chinese culture. When he heard about the upcoming five shows by the DPA in Sydney in April, he bought tickets to all five shows so that he could watch every one of them.
Zhou said he had seen many shows in China, but thought they were unnatural and stiff. They all tried to present propaganda to extol something. They were boring, he said. However, the show by the DPA truly re-enacts the history and the glory of art. He thought the audience couldn't get enough of it. That was why he wanted to watch it five times. He kept saying, "Magnificent! Absolutely magnificent! The Chinese folk customs, the costumes, choreography, dancers... everything was perfect! I was very moved! As an artist, I love the DPA shows because they are part of the Chinese culture and history. The stage design, the prop, the colors... They were great!" he repeated.
Zhou Chengyuan was most impressed by the grand opening scene of the "Descent of the Celestial Kings." He said, "Maybe gods will really come to save people at the time of catastrophe. Every performance conveyed strong feelings. It was a spirit-lifting, artistic entertainment!"
Zhou hopes that all Chinese people can see the DPA show because it is the authentic art of the Chinese nation. "I will make a drawing of the DPA poster as a souvenir," he enthused.
Mr. Wang Wei, a Chinese student from Shanghai who came to Sydney a year ago, told the reporter, "I was moved by the drum dances and the whole momentum of the Spectacular. The show is wonderful! The music was unheard of. The powerful and the gentle, the magnificent and the sad, every musical note penetrated to every cell of your body! The bright colors and miraculous background...I felt I was taken to another dimension far away from the clamor of the Earth. The spirit presented in the DPA show was very moving!" Wang said he would watch the DPA show again next year. He wished such a great show could be staged in China, so that his family would be able to see it.
