(Clearwisdom.net) Renowned artist Xie Lifa is a painter, art critic, writer and artist. He saw the fifth performance of the Divine Performing Arts' Chinese Spectacular on the evening of March 12 in Taichung City. In an interview after the show, Mr. Xie said that the performance by Divine Performing Arts, "revealed a state that made my heart go into an untrammeled realm."
Well-known artist: It is Really a Heavenly World
Xie Lifa studied sculpture in Paris and studied art theory and history in New York. His work has been shown in many art exhibitions, including New York galleries. Mr. Xie was most impressed with "The Drummers of the Tang Court." He said, "Their poses can be seen in ancient wall pictures." What he admired even more was the choreography, which he believes was developed from stillness of the Dunhuang Cave wall pictures. He said several times, "I feel that the show is very good. The choreography is different in each different piece. I think the arrangement and measurement of the performance is very well controlled. This made a deep impression on me!"
Xie Lifa felt that some of the messages in the Spectacular were beyond art. He said, "I adjusted my point of view of art appreciation. What this performance revealed is very gentle." He felt that the performance, like an essay, was very relaxed, part by part, and each part had a subject. All the subjects are generalized and related to religious belief, Chinese culture, and folk tales.
Xie Lifa thought that the costumes were beautiful, magnificent, and gossamer. In the performance there were many scenes from ancient times and ancient clothes were made of silk and satin. So when they dressed, it had a gossamer effect. Dyes in ancient times were mainly shades of pink, light yellow, and a warm green color. These colors gave Xie Lifa a light and airy feeling.
Mr. Xie mentioned that this was the first time for him to see the Chinese Spectacular. After he saw the performance of the world of heavenly beings, Bodhisattvas, and Buddha, he couldn't help but say with admiration, "It is really a heavenly world. I feel that in heaven life is richer than it is in this world!"
