(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 20 cities or counties in 9 provinces. In this report, 29 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 19 practitioners were illegally arrested.
1. [Beijing City] Many Falun Gong Practitioners Taken into Custody and Their Homes Searched
On January 24, 2008, more than 10 employees of the Beijing Jinkui Decoration Factory were taken into custody and detained in the Dongcheng District Detention Center located at No. 645 Qiliqu Road in Douge Village, Changping District. The detained Falun Gong practitioners include Mr. Chen Gang, Mr. Chen Jiaolong, Mr. Wen Jiaqi, Ms. Yu Yajing, Ms. Yu Yafang, Ms. Zuoyan, Ms. Su Na, Ms. Liu Yan, and Ms. Dong Tingshui.
2. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] The Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners at Yuhong Airport
On January 2, 2008, officials from the Yuhong Airport in Shenyang City took its staff member, practitioner Ms. Tang Huiyun, to the Zhangshi Brainwashing Center. Later, Ms. Tang held a hunger strike to protest the persecution. Her husband also sought help for her release. Finally, the authorities of the brainwashing center agreed to release her, but the officials at her workplace refused to pick her up. Only when Ms. Tang's husband agreed that she would have nothing to do with her workplace in the future, did the officials dispatch someone to pick her up. At present, the officials are plotting to dismiss her and Mr. Ji Yaojie.
In 2001, Yuhong Airport officials took four Falun Gong practitioners, Ms. Tang Huiyun, Mr. Ji Yaojie (both of them staff members), Ms. Jiang Hong (the family member of an air crew member), and Mr. Wei Guozhi (former military officer), to the Zhangshi Brainwashing Center. After they were released, Ms. Jiang suffered severe depression and passed away due to illness that developed as a result. Mr. Wei Guozhi was forcibly discharged. Consequently, he does not have a job to support himself.
3. [Tongliao City, Inner Mongolia] The Persecution of Ms. Zhang Guiha and Ms. Zhao Suhua and Other Practitioners
Ms. Zhang Guihua, 58 years old, is a Falun Gong practitioner from Xi'an Village, Heilongba Town in Kailu County, Tongliao City. Mr. Xiong Shuyuan, her husband, is also 58 years old.
On November 10, 2007, officers from the Heilongba Town Police Station, together with officers from the Kailu County 610 Office, broke into Ms. Zhang's home. They arrested her and her husband, and seized a computer, a printer, Dafa books, and Dafa truth-clarification materials. Mr. Xiong has been released after officials extorted 30,000 yuan from him. Ms. Zhang is still detained.
Around November 1, 2007, when practitioner Ms. Hui was away from home, officers from the Heilongba Town Police Station, together with officers from the Kailu County 610 Office, broke into her home in Yushulin Village and seized Dafa books and other materials. At present, Ms. Hui has been detained in a prison in Tongliao City.
On November 15, 2007, practitioner Ms. Zhao Suhua, Mr. Zhao Jinghai's wife, was reported to the police and taken into custody by officers. She has since been released.
Officers from the Maixin Town Police Station also called at the homes of practitioners to harass them. They took Ms. Fu Weiru, a 40-year-old practitioner from Maixin Village, into custody and detained her.

4. [Benxi City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Xiao Mingrui Illegally Taken Into Custody
Mr. Xiao Mingrui is a Falun Gong practitioner from Benxi City. He was forced to become homeless in order to avoid arrest from home. At about 8:00 p.m. on February 12, 2008, Mr. Xiao was taken into custody in Tongyuanbao Town, Fengcheng City.
5. [Harbin City , Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Qi Jinlin Injured Due to Being Beaten in Qianjin Forced Labor Camp
On February 8, 2008, practitioner Ms. Qi Jinlin's family went to see her in the Qianjin Forced Labor Camp. She could only walk with another's support. Her head was injured due to being beaten. Ms. Qi's family requested to give her medical treatment, but the labor camp authorities refused to allow it.
6. [Jiuquan City, Gansu Province] Five Practitioners Taken into Custody by Officers fromAnxi County
On December 6, 2007, officers from Anxi County took five Falun Gong practitioners from Nancha Village, Nancha Township into custody. Among them there are Ms. Zhang Xiulan, her husband Mr. Hu Sigen, Mr. Rui Si, Mr. Wei Zhongxin, and Ms. Zhang Caihua. They have been detained in the Anxi County Detention Center for about three months. At present, they are facing being sentenced to labor camp or prison.

7. [Chengwu County, Shandong Province] Ms. Shan Xianzhi Taken into Custody
Ms. Shan Xianzhi is a Falun Gong practitioner from Hexidanzhuang Village, Tiangong Town, Chengwu County. She was reported to the police for distributing truth-clarifying materials. Afterwards, at about 10:00 p.m. on February 10, 2008, she was taken into custody from home by officers from the Tiangong Town Police Station and State Security Division of Chengwu County. Her home was searched the next day. At present, Ms. Shan is detained in the Chengwu County Detention Center.
8. [Rushan City, Shandong Province] Two Practitioners Taken into Custody at Bus Station
On February 12, 2008, two Falun Gong practitioners were taken into custody at a bus station in Rushan City.
At about 10:00 a.m. on February 12, 2008, Mr. Dong Genren, a Falun Gong practitioner from Dongtun Village, Yantai City, was taken into custody in Tengjia Village, Rushan City. At present, his whereabouts are unknown. In addition, practitioner Mr. Deng Lianyu's whereabouts are unknown as well.
9. [Guangan City, Sichuan Province] Supplemental Information on the Sentencing of Ms. Ding Yuerong, Mr. Xiang Lin, and Mr. Zeng Geping
Practitioners Mr. Zeng Geping, Mr. Xiang Lin and Ms. Ding Yuerong have been sentenced to prison. Prior to that they were detained in the Guangan Detention Center for more than a year. Mr. Zeng Geping and Mr. Xiang Lin were sentenced to seven and a half years and Ms. Ding Yuerong was sentenced to seven years. They have been taken to the Guangyuan Prison in Sichuan Province. Before Mr. Zeng was taken to prison, he was already seriously ill and needed medical treatment. However, he was still taken to the prison.
10. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Practitioners Ms. Long Xianjun, Ms. Zhang Shanqun, Mr. He Sen, and Mr. Wang Ming Taken into Custody by Officers from the Tianhui Town Police Station
11. [Yongjia County, Zhejiang Province] Practitioner Mr. Chen Hu and Others Taken into Custody and Their Homes Searched
Mr. Chen Hu, Ms. Wen Shumei, Mr. Yu Shengbi, and Mr. Tao Sheng, Falun Gong practitioners from Oubei Town, Yongjia County, were taken into custody by about 100 officers from Oubei Town. Their homes were also searched.

13. [Tianjin City] Supplementary Information on the Arrest of Mr. Li Jinhua
On January 4, 2008, Ms. Li Jinhua, a Falun Gong practitioner from Tianjin City, was taken into custody for distributing truth-clarifying materials to residents of the North China Petroleum Company by officers of the State Security Division under the Yingzhou District Police Department. She was in the area visiting family. Ms. Li has been detained in the North China Petroleum Company Detention Center in Renqiu City. At present, she is facing an illegal sentence.

Sometime before the Chinese New Year, Ms. Zhang Lili was taken into custody for distributing truth-clarifying material in Kunshan City, Jiangsu Province.
15. [Hengyang County, Hunan Province] Practitioner Mr. Dai Guohe Taken into Custody
On February 10, 2008, Mr. Dai Guohe, a Falun Gong practitioner from Hengyang County, sent his son to Guangzhou to work. When he was waiting for a bus in Jibingtan Town, he clarified the truth about Dafa to the people around him. He was reported to police and taken into custody by officers from Jibingtan Town.

16. [Qingyuan County, Liaoning Province] Practitioner Ms. Zheng Hongying Returned Home after Three Years of Detention
Ms. Zheng Hongying, a Falun Gong practitioner from Nankouqian Town, Qingyuan County, was sentenced to three years in prison. Her term was due to end on December 25, 2007. She was released from the Shenyang City No. 2 Prison and returned home.
17. [Heihe City, Heilongjiang Province] Practitioner Ms. Yang Taken into Custody and Her Home Searched
Ms. Yang, a laid-off worker from a tannery plant, was taken into custody by officers from the Erjie Police Station. Later, officers from the Erjie Police Station called in officers of the State Security Division under the Aihun District Police Department and searched Ms. Yang's home. They seized a computer, some cash with truth-clarifying characters on them, stamps for clarifying the truth, books, and 400 yuan cash. At present, Ms. Yang's child and elderly mother-in-law have been left alone at home with no one to look after them.

Mr. Shan Xianzhi, 50 years old, lived in Shanzhaung Village, Tiangong Town in Chengwu County, Shandong Province. At 6:30 p.m. on February 10, 2008, he went outside to distribute truth-clarifying materials. At about 9:00 p.m., he was taken into custody by officers on patrol from the local police station. He is currently detained in the Chengwu County Detention Center.

19. [Yichang City, Hubei Province] Mr. Zhou Zhongwu Taken Into Custody
At noon on December 29, 2007, Mr. Zhou Zhongwu, a 60-year-old Falun Gong practitioner from Zigui County, Yichang City, was taken into custody by officers from the local police station.
20. [Feicheng City, Shandong Province] Supplementary Information on the Arrest of Ms. Niu Zhiqin and Ms. Shi Ruifen
At about 4:00 p.m. on November 27, 2007, a gang of police officers of the Taoshan District Police Department broke into the home of Ms. Niu Zhiqin, a 45-year-old Falun Gong practitioner. They searched the home and made a video recording. They seized some truth-clarifying materials, a television set, a DVD player, and 2,500 yuan in cash and took Ms. Niu and her husband into custody. Her husband was released at midnight. Ms. Niu was taken to the Feicheng City Detention Center and later transferred to the Tai'an Detention Center.
Ms. Niu made a living by selling tofu. Her family requested to see her, but they were refused. Authorities from the Feicheng City Court are planning to sentence her.
At noon on November 28, 2007, seven or eight officers from the Taoshan District Police Department, led by the chief of the Criminal Police Team, broke into the home of Ms. Shi Ruifen, a retired teacher from the Cha Village Coal Mine kindergarten. They seized a computer, a printer, some blank CDs, ink, and other items and took Ms. Shi into custody. Ms. Shi has been detained in the Feicheng City Detention Center, and her family was prohibited from seeing her. Living conditions at the detention center are extremely bad. There is no heat, and hot water is supplied only at a fixed time. It is not sufficient for drinking, not to mention taking a shower. Further, there is no space to take a shower. The food consists of rotten cabbage leaves cooked in water or a daikon radish. Since too many people are detained there and the cell is too small, some people have to sleep on the ground. The bed is also made of cement, and there is not much difference compared with the ground. Ms. Shi is facing illegal sentencing now.
