Ms. Smith told the show staff that she wanted to be interviewed by the media. She was very excited and told the reporter that the entire performance was excellent.
She said her father once worked in Beijing and had been to many places in China, so she had the opportunity to learn a lot about Chinese culture from her father. She considers it a pleasant and ancient culture.
Ms. Smith said she had learned about Chinese culture at the university, where her major was Chinese religions and arts. She said at one time when she left Toronto, she suddenly found that she missed Chinese culture very much and she did not know why.
Ms. Smith said what impressed her the most was the dance depicting three women who were persecuted in prison and later ascended to Heaven. She also liked the "Water Sleeves" dance.
She commented, "Many programs expressed inner meanings at a spiritual level, such as the program that described the process of people being persecuted and then ascending. The story used a relaxed way of interpretation, without a heavy ending. I was very surprised. It was really good."
