Food deprivation, violence, threats, and sleep deprivation are among the methods used to coerce the practitioners to recant their beliefs. Wen Huaguo struck Deng Liping's with an iron bar. The drug addict, Chen Kang (male, from Yuzhong District, Chongqing) stepped on the chests of Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Pan Yuanjun and Mr. Deng Baishou. December 2007, Zhuo Bo poured cold water on Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Zhihai because he was snoring in his sleep. Because of his snoring, Mr. Wang was frequently beaten by the drug addicts.

For several days, drug addict Qiu Lin (male) kicked Falun Gong practitioners or beat them with bamboo blocks, or electric wires. Mr. Luo Jiaoyu (from Liangping County, Chongqing), unable to complete a task as ordered, was whipped by Qiu Lin with an electric wire and kicked, causing bleeding in his chest. Practitioner Mr. Zhou Qingyu was beaten by Li Liang (male). His neck was injured, but he was denied medical treatment.
