(Clearwisdom.net) On August 10, 2007, the Taiwan Solidarity Union (TSU) held a press conference to alert the Taiwanese public about the Chinese Communist regime's Olympic propaganda and the regime's poor human rights record. TSU legislators pointed out that the regime is using the Olympics to cover up its horrifying atrocities such as harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners.
At the press conference, two TSU legislators emphasized that Amnesty International recently condemned China for not fulfilling its promise to improve its human rights record in the organization's August 7 report. The legislators commented that human rights violations in China are clearly against the Olympic spirit.
Professor Chang Ching-hsi, president of the Taiwan Falun Dafa Association, was invited to the press conference. He said that according to incomplete statistics, more than 3000 Falun Gong practitioners have died under persecution since 2000. In addition, the ex-wife of a Chinese surgeon testified last year that her former husband was involved in harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners and he had personally removed more than 2000 corneas.
"Since China was selected to host the 2008 Olympics several years ago, the persecution of Falun Gong has gone underground and the organ harvesting has mostly been carried out by the military. While the Chinese Communist regime claimed that tens of thousands of organs used in organ transplant operations were from executed criminals, sources of many of these organs were not identified and it is suspected that most organs were actually from Falun Gong practitioners." Chang continued, "The Chinese Communist regime uses state resources to persecute Falun Gong practitioners and harvests organs from practitioners for profit. These atrocities are inhuman and have never before occurred in history. Taiwan people should not go to China for organ transplants."
TSU legislators Tseng Tsahn-Deng and David S. Huang strongly requested the Chinese Communist regime to fulfill its promise to improve human rights in China. The legislators also reminded the Taiwanese media to report human rights violation cases in conjunction with Olympic Games news, so that the Taiwanese people would not ignore the atrocities of the Chinese Communist Party.
The legislators stressed that a great deal of evidence indicates that the Chinese Communist regime has never stopped violating human rights and the regime's suppressive policy is completely against the noble human values of humanity, freedom, equity and peace represented by the Olympic Games.
At the end of the press conference, the TSU appealed to the international community to face the reality and take concrete actions to force the Chinese Communist regime to fulfill its promises to the world.
