(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Sun Duojin was a practitioner living in Zhijiang County, Hunan Province. During the last eight years of the ongoing persecution of Falun Gong in China, he was "illegally detained" and interrogated many times. He decided to leave home for four years to avoid further persecution. Mr. Sun was mentally and physically tormented. He finally died on May 23, 2007, after being persecuted by the 610 Office agents for an extended period of time. Mr. Sun was forcibly injected with unknown drugs and persecuted before his death. Details follow.
Mr. Sun Duojin, 42 years old, was a resident of Muyexi Township in Zhijiang County, Huaihua City. He was a stout and honest man and a typical farmer. Prior to practicing Falun Gong he was diagnosed with liver cancer. After he started to practice, the symptoms of his cancer disappeared. In June 2000 Mr. Sun Duojin went to Beijing to clarify the facts about Falun Gong, but he was illegally arrested. Police brought him back to Zhijiang County. He was held in the Zhijiang Detention Center for as long as half a year and persecuted. After his release the authorities extorted five thousand yuan from him for so-called "bail" money.
A collaborator who was in Baimayao Forced Labor Camp in 2001 betrayed him. In April 2001 lawless personnel from the Muyexi Township Police Station arrested him on the trumped-up charge of his getting into a confrontation. He was again illegally detained for seven months. No one was available to harvest his crops, so he was released for a few days to harvest his crops before being detained again.
During the autumn of 2003, Muyexi Township government officials discovered Falun Gong "truth clarification" materials on the doors of their office. The county 610 Office chief, Peng Zuyou, suspected that Mr. Sun was responsible. He immediately ordered his men to arrest Mr. Sun and bring him to the township office. They attempted to extort a confession from him by torture, beating him and using lighted cigarettes to scorch his face. A few people pushed him to the ground and held his arms behind his back. One person held his chin up. Then they inhumanly fed him with cow dung water. Mr. Sun passed out during the torture and almost died. The 610 Office agents saw that he was dying, but they threatened him and said, "We will let you go home. You just reconsider for a few days. You must confess! We want our rewards. If you don't confess we will not get our rewards!"
In the face of the cruel persecution, Mr. Sun knew that the 610 Office would not let him off easily. He packed up and left his hometown, injured and with tears in his eyes. For four years he did not dare to visit his relatives and dared not go home. He left home and did day labor. The 610 Office agents put up notices everywhere to announce a ten thousand-yuan reward for his arrest and sent people to find him. Mr. Sun had to hide and live in fear. Due to the decline in people's morals, many times he did not get paid for the work he had done. With a meager income he still frequently helped others but was financially hard up.
In the spring of 2007, as a result of the accumulated mental and physical pressure, coupled with the fact that he could not practice the Falun Gong exercises regularly, Mr. Sun finally fell ill. His health got worse day by day. He had a relapse of his liver illness, and the effects of internal injuries from the police beatings took their toll. He could not work and eventually became bedridden. In his tribulation he became deluded and thought, "I am in such a terrible state; They will not bother me anymore" and thought it was safe to return home.
One of his sisters, who was deceived by the lies of the CCP, reported him to the 610 Office and to the Zhijiang County Politics and Law Committee. When 610 Office Chief Peng Zuyou got hold of the information, he brought a gang of people and barged into Mr. Sun Duojin's house. They threatened him and ransacked his residence. They took away all his Falun Gong books, truth clarification materials and exercise tapes. Although Mr. Sun was already bedridden and could not defend himself, he still tried to discourage the lawless personnel from their bad deeds.
The 610 Office people still did not let him off. They came every day to harass, verbally abuse, and threaten him, and thus he could not recuperate in peace. In order to cover up their bad deeds, the 610 Office people made use of his sister to employ a quack doctor from the township health center. The "doctor" forcibly fed and injected Mr. Sun with drugs. After pretending to be giving Mr. Sun treatment, the 610 Office staff claimed that five thousand yuan for medical expenses were due. Thus the five thousand yuan they ransacked and confiscated earlier from his house became "payment" for "medical expenses."
After Mr. Sun was injected with the drugs, his condition became bad quickly. He had difficulty breathing, and his legs became swollen. He could not eat anything and could only drink water. He sometimes lost consciousness. The 610 Office agents tried to use this incident to frame Falun Gong and they videotaped him. The night before Mr. Sun died they broadcast the news. However, their plan to enhance the persecution backfired. After people saw the news, many of them gave a "thumbs up" sign and volunteered comments such as: "He was so determined and strong. He was already in such a state yet he still shouted, 'Falun Gong is good! Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance is good!'"
Before his death Mr. Sun warned his sister, "You helped the CCP persecute Falun Gong and practitioners. You will receive retribution. You should repent and turn over a new leaf. You should seek forgiveness from my Master, then you will get a good future." Mr. Sun also clarified the truth about Falun Gong to a young man who came to visit him. He told him why it was important to renounce his CCP membership in the Party and affiliated organizations. Even in his weakened condition, with his weak voice and kind heart, he helped this person understand the facts and renounce his CCP membership and thus gave the young man a chance to choose a beautiful future.
