(Clearwisdom.net) On July 1, 2007, the Democratic Labor Party (DLP) of Australia passed a unanimous resolution at its annual conference in Melbourne, deploring the Federal Government's response to ongoing atrocities by the Chinese Communist Party, which involve the harvesting of human organs by force, from inmates of the Communist regime's prison system, particularly Falun Gong practitioners persecuted and imprisoned for the practice of their spiritual beliefs.
The resolution states as follows:
"The Conference deplores as culpably inadequate the Federal Government's responses to massive, systemic oppression and cruelty, including the ongoing atrocities of forced human organ harvesting by the official agencies of the Chinese Communist Party."
DLP secretary Mr. John Mulholland said:
"The resolution reflects the long-held views of DLP members towards the oppressive Communist regime, which has followed the same path as Stalin's Russia and Hitler's Germany in flagrant human rights abuses, and has had the same blind eye of the international community turned towards it."
"It is a deplorable circumstance that an Australian government can be turning it own blind eye to these atrocities perpetrated by an anti-democratic regime that has become our biggest trading partner and which has no qualms about toying with our unhealthy trade dependency to dictate that Australia should toe the Chinese Communist Party line in our relations with pro-democratic Taiwan."
News release of the resolution
A member of DLP attended a forum based on the book Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party in Melbourne, and obtained some material relating to the CCP's organ harvesting. This member then proposed the resolution at the annual conference.
A spokesman from the Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (CIPFG), Xiao Zhonghua, stated that the CIPFS is encouraged by the resolution, which shows that more and more political parties are concerned about the organ harvesting.
He said, "The investigation report by Mr. Kilgour and Mr. Matas drew a lot of attention in Western society. More and more people recognize the evil nature of the CCP. Many Australian citizens have written to parliament members and media, asking that more attention be given to the organ harvesting. Many organizations and individuals have joined CIPFG. This resolution will help more people to learn the facts of the persecution."
He continued, "Recently, a citizen of Melbourne called the local newspaper, asking them to interview Falun Gong practitioners on the organ harvesting issue. So the newspaper interviewed the practitioners and reported the persecution. At the forum in Melbourne, many people from the audience said that they would tell more people about the persecution, and help to stop it."
The DLP is known as an anti-communist party in Australia. In the 2006 Victoria elections, the new DLP gained parliamentary representation for the first time when it won a seat in the Victorian Legislative Council.
