In July 1999, the Chinese Communist Party started severely persecuting Falun Gong. The 610 Office in Xuyong County is a special agency specifically established for persecuting Falun Gong. Public Security and County Security authorities frequently broke into Li's home to harass the couple, and took over the house many times. Li's husband was a very humble person, especially after practicing Falun Gong, and they followed Master Li's requirement, "...don't hit back when beaten, don't talk back when slandered..." (Falun Gong), and put other people before themselves, striving to be selfless.
Not only did 610 Office agents and police from Public Security and County Security harass them and break into and ransack their home, they also closely monitored them, controlling everything including the mail. They also attempted to force them to "transform," and give up the practice by threatening to eliminate their source of income. They said, "Keep practicing, and your business license will be revoked!" The authorities put Li's husband into a brainwashing center for further persecution. With the constant pressure of severe persecution, Ms. Li's husband suffered a mental collapse, he stopped speaking, and his physical state deteriorated, with the recurrence of cerebral hemorrhage. He was seriously ill, yet the 610 Office agents, Public Security officers, County Security officers, local police, and members of the community still constantly harassed them. Li's husband passed away in October 2003.
The authorities continually persecuted Ms. Li. On the morning of August 28, 2006, three men and one woman from Public Security and County Security, including Feng Guangyong and Ma Yuliang, illegally broke into Li's home, blocked the kitchen door, and conducted a search of the house. They attempted to arrest Ms. Li and take her to the Public Security Bureau. Li was forced to leave her mother and little girl.
The authorities confiscated Ms. Li's computer and Falun Dafa books, claiming that she must return to clear her name, and threatened to catch her wherever she went. Ms. Li's mother was 90 years old, and her little girl just 13. For years, they lived in fear and under great stress. Ms. Li is still homeless, and her mother has become sick with fear and worry.
Despite this, Feng Guangyong and Ma Yuliang still threatened and intimidated this older lady, trying to force her to make her daughter return home. The middle town community also coerced someone to monitor Li's house. In February 2007, Li's mother passed away, and her little girl has had to stay with different friends, with no financial security.
