The Spread of Falun Gong in Yunlin Started with Workshops for Teachers

Ms. Chen Su-chu, the former principal of Dinghu Elementary School, had many diseases before she started practicing Falun Gong. After practicing Falun Gong, all of her illnesses disappeared. To promote Falun Gong, Ms. Chen held two workshops for teachers in January and July 2002. A total of 697 teachers and school employees attended the workshops. Many others learned Falun Dafa later, and helped spread the Fa in Yunlin.

Since 2002, Falun Gong practitioners have held workshops for teachers every winter and summer. More than 1,500 people, including officers in the Education Department, teachers, and seventeen elementary and high school principals became practitioners. More than one hundred Falun Gong practitioners are working in the educational community in Yunlin County.

The exercise site in Douliou City is located at Douliou Industrial Park Service Center. Practitioners gather to do group exercises at 4:50 a.m. every morning.

Ms. Gu, the contact person in Douliou, is from Indonesia. She learned Falun Dafa four years ago. Her husband is very supportive and sometime attends Dafa activities with her. Her two children are young practitioners, who go to every Minghui Young Practitioners Class. Ms. Gu had a dream once, in which her father, brother and sister survived a big flood, but her mother disappeared in the flood. In her dream, someone told her to rescue her mother. Ms. Gu realized that she did not get along with her mother very well before she got married. After she began cultivating, she introduced Dafa to all of her family members but her mother. She realized that she should put down the conflicts that she had with her mother, and clarify the truth to her. So she did so, and the conflicts between her and her mother disappeared.

Ms. Li really enjoys the group Fa-study and exercises on weekends. Since she has three children, she cannot go to the group exercise every morning. She feels very good at the group exercise practice on weekends, and really cherishes this opportunity.

Ms. Li had lupus, headache, insomnia and sinusitis. After practicing Falun Gong, all of her diseases were healed. Her children also started practicing Falun Gong. Two of her children were nearsighted. After a period of practicing, their vision improved from 0.7 and 0.4 to 1.0 and 0.8.

The Exercise Site in Kouhu Town

The exercise site in Kouhu Town was set up in 2006. Practitioners used to do the group exercises at an elementary school. Later, a practitioner suggested moving the exercise site to a plaza in front of a government building so that more people would see the exercises.

The exercise site has about five or six members, including government officers and teachers. Recently, a couple who are business professionals joined it too. During the summer, several elementary school students also come to do the exercises with the practitioners.

The exercise site in Kouhu Town

Practitioners do the exercises from 5:30 to 8:10 every morning. After finishing the exercises, they always do the first set of exercises one more time. The purpose is to give more people an opportunity to see the exercises. On Saturdays, practitioners only do the standing exercises for one hour and spend one hour on Fa-study and sharing.

The exercise site is on the way to a farmers market, so many housewives, who often go to the market, get the opportunity to learn about Falun Gong. Sometimes, on their way to the market, they ask practitioners for more information about Falun Gong.

Canlin Elementary School Exercise Site in Shueilin Town

On July 1, 2001, Falun Gong practitioners from Chiayi went to Canlin Elementary School to spread the Fa and set up an exercise site. Mr. Hang, the principal of the elementary school, is very supportive. He offered practitioners a classroom to do the exercises and study the Fa.

Practitioners do the exercises from 4:50 to 7:10 every morning and study the Fa on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. Practitioners also share their cultivation experiences on the first Sunday of every month. The members of the practice site include principals and teachers from various elementary schools, government officers, businessmen and housewives. Some of them are in graduate school, and some of them are illiterate.

Over the past five years, practitioners have done the exercises and Fa-study together every day. Since many of the elderly women in the group are illiterate, some practitioners read the Fa in Mandarin and some read the Fa in Taiwanese, so that they can all understand.

During the first three years, the contact person of the exercise site was in charge of bringing the CD player to play the exercise music. Later, four practitioners took turns doing this job. The practitioners in charge of the music need to be at the exercise site the earliest. Two of them are 70-year-old women.

Lunbei High School Exercise Site in Lunbei Town

Lunbei High School Exercise Site was set up in March 2002. Many people can see the practitioners doing the exercises every morning, and some of them even follow along with the exercises. The members of the exercises site are mostly teachers. Originally there were only two or three members, but now more and more people have joined the site. One practitioner even set up a new site.

Liren Elementary School Exercise Site in Huwei Town

Huwei Town is in the center of Yunlin County. The exercise site in Huwei was located in Tongsin Park, but later it was moved to the campus of Huwei Science and Technology University. In order to give even more people an opportunity to learn about Falun Gong, practitioners moved the exercise site to Liren Elementary School, which is next to a busy market. Practitioners do the exercises there at 4:50 in the morning and at 7:30 in the evening.

Most members of the exercise site are teachers. Practitioners study the Fa together every Tuesday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Practitioners from Tuku, Yuanchang, Dapi, Dounan and Mailiao Town also joined the group Fa-study. Practitioners from Huwei Town also hold a Minghui School for young practitioners. They have classes every Tuesday and Saturday.

This summer, practitioners held a two-month Minghui School. The excellent cultivation environment led every one of the young practitioners to be able to meditate in the double lotus position for one hour. Young practitioners performed on waist drums at a gala held by the Culture Department of Yunlin County. Mr. Wang, a practitioner, promoted Falun Dafa among elementary teachers in Yunlin County, and was awarded the title of "One of the Best Teachers in Creating a Harmonious Campus" in 2005 and also the title, "Excellent Teacher" in Yunlin County in 2005. Mr. Wang previously had problems with his spine, but it was healed after he practiced Falun Gong. Every winter and summer, he helps practitioners hold "Falun Dafa Workshops for Teachers in Yunlin," creating an opportunity for more people to learn Falun Gong.

Ah-Bin attends the exercise practice, and is very active in spreading the Fa. He often drives through Huwei Town, passing out Falun Dafa information. He too had health problems that were healed after he started practicing Dafa.

The exercise site in Huwei Town was started by Ms. Zhang Yu, who is from Mainland China and who married a Taiwanese. She did the exercises in Tongsin Park every day, even when she was pregnant. Her father-in-law, Mr. Huang, was touched by her diligence, and also started cultivation practice in Dafa.

Mrs. Hsu comes to the exercise site to hang up banners and play the exercise music every morning. She has been very kind to her sick father-in-law and took care of him for many years until he passed away. Her children are also good practitioners. They behave themselves very well and get good grades in school.

The members of the exercise site include university professors, principals and elementary school teachers, businessmen, housewives, and workers. Practitioners often share their cultivation experiences and encourage each other, so that everyone improves as a whole body.
