Mr. Geng Wenqi, 65, is a practitioner from Jiaozuo City, Henan Province. He lives in the 5th Unit, 2nd Building of the employee apartments of the Plastic Construction Material Plant in the Jiefang District, Jiaozuo City, Henan Province.
Since starting to practice Falun Gong, all of the illnesses he had suffered for many years were cured. But since 1999 when the persecution of Falun Gong began, his family property has been confiscated, and he has been persecuted through imprisonment in jails and forced labor camps twice.
On July 19, 1999, when Mr. Geng was studying the Fa in a park, Public Security Bureau police illegally arrested him and held him in the police station for a couple of days. Then the police brought him back to his work unit and had him detained there under close monitoring for several months.
While he was "illegally detained," the Public Security Bureau police confiscated all of the property from his home. In December 2002, when Mr. Geng was ready to appeal to the Inquiry Bureau of the State Council in Beijing, the police from Xinghua Police Station arrested and imprisoned him or about a month.
Without following any legal procedures, authorities sentenced Geng Wenqi to the Third Forced Labor Camp in Xuchang City, Henan Province, for one year. While there, he suffered all kinds of torture and abuse, both mental and physical. Because his previous illnesses recurred, he was then released at the end of July 2001.
In February 2003, when he was clarifying the truth and exposing the brutal persecution of Falun Gong, officers from the 610 Office and Zhang Ziyou from Xinhua Police Station arrested him and detained him there for 40 days. Afterwards, Mr. Geng was then transferred to a provincial forced labor camp for further torture for about two years. He was again subjected to a great deal of brutal torture and humiliation while in the forced labor camp.
