(Clearwisdom.net) Taiwan Falun Dafa Association wrote to Singapore Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew to protest a Singapore court decision to imprison Falun Gong practitioners for gathering outside the Chinese Embassy.
Along with dozens of Taipei practitioners, in the afternoon of December 2, professor Wu Huilin and Secretary-General Liu Bing-Hua from the Taiwan Association to Rescue Persecuted Falun Gong Practitioners delivered the letter to the Singapore Trade Office in Taipei. This is the third time in 2006 that the Association has delivered formal letters advising the Singapore Government to not be accomplices to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in the persecution of Falun Gong.
Practitioners Ng Chye Huey and Er Boon Tiong protested the persecution of Falun Gong outside the Chinese Embassy to Singapore on July 20 2006. They were arrested, charged, and from November 28 to December 1, tried in a Singapore court. The defendants had no lawyer to defend for them and the Judge deprived them of their rights to have witnesses and to present supporting evidence. The trial was held in a small courtroom and only a few practitioners were allowed to sit in the room while around 100 could only stand outside. Rather than following normal legal process, the judge rushed to a verdict: Ng Chye Huey was sentenced with a fine of 1500 Singapore dollars (about US$975) or 15 days detention, and Er Boon Tiong was sentenced with a fine of 1000 Singapore dollars (about US$650) or 10 days detention. The two believed that the verdicts were unjust and appealed. However, the Judge said that they then have to serve their detention terms before they could appeal. This is completely against normal process and the two practitioners were taken away by court police. The case initially involved three practitioners. Authorities chose to deport the third, 73-year-old Ms. Chen Peiyu, instead of prosecuting her in court. Ms. Chen was deported despite the fact that she had permanent resident status in Singapore.

Taiwan practitioners protested outside Singapore Trade Office:
Wu Huilin said that the Singapore Courts ruling against Falun Gong is completely unjust. He pointed out that the fact that the Judge deprived of the defendants right to have witnesses and to present supporting evidence and rushed to an verdict suggested that the Singapore Government has bowed to pressure from the CCP.
Wu said that Taiwan practitioners do not wish conflict with anyone by delivering the protest letter. Instead, they come to safeguard world peace and human rights. The CCP is the real threat to world peace and human rights. Though the economy in China is growing and has attracted so much foreign investment, the CCP has never spent money to improve the quality of life for Chinese citizens. Instead, it continues to persecute innocent people and reinforces the persecution with that money.
In the letter, the Taiwan Falun Dafa Association stated: "The CCPs persecution of Falun Gong is doomed to fail. There is nothing wrong for Falun Gong practitioners to clarify truth of the persecution and the CCPs evil nature in order to end the persecution. We hope that the Singapore Government will value moral standards and justice and release the practitioners and restore their reputation. We hope that the Singapore Government will respect and protect Falun Gong practitioners basic rights and freedom and not bow to the CCP. Singapore can have a bright future only if the Singapore Government makes all these right choices."
During this protest, Taiwan practitioners displayed large posters, which articulated their heartfelt wishes: "We call on the Singapore Government to not be accomplices to the CCP!"
Third grader Wang Jianghua said: "I am here to tell everyone that it is wrong for the Singapore Government to assist the CCP to persecute Falun Gong."
