(Clearwisdom.net) On September 18, 2006, US Congresswoman Susan Davis wrote to a Falun Gong practitioner concerning the human rights situation in China. She said: "I am particularly appalled by recent allegations that the Chinese government has been removing the organs of living human beings without consent. As you know, numerous reports have claimed that the Chinese Communist Party has carried out a vicious campaign against Falun Gong practitioners and other imprisoned Chinese citizens." Below is the text of the letter.

Dear Gisela,
Thank you for contacting me to voice your concern over allegations of human rights violations in China and for forwarding a number of related links to my office. I appreciate hearing from you on such an important issue.
I am very aware and very concerned about the human rights situation in China. I am particularly appalled by recent allegations that the Chinese government has been removing the organs of living human beings without consent. As you know, numerous reports have claimed that the Chinese Communist Party has carried out a vicious campaign against Falun Gong practitioners and other imprisoned Chinese citizens. While the Chinese Communist Party has denied the existence of this program, the facts seem to be in dispute.
In response to these allegations, I joined many of my colleagues in signing a letter to President Bush urging him to raise the issue of unlawful organ removal allegations with Chinese President Hu Jintao. The international community cannot remain quiet in the face of human rights abuses and I am hopeful that international pressure from the United States and other countries will help lead to the termination of this horrendous practice.
You may be interested to know that my staff and I have met many times with Falun Gong supporters and human rights advocates fighting to protect the rights of ordinary Chinese citizens. I am committed to working on improving human rights in China and around the world and am grateful for the information you sent me and for your advocacy on this very important issue. I hope you will continue to stay involved. Rest assured, I will stay engaged on this critical issue promoting dialogue, non-violence, freedom, and democracy.
Once again, thank you for contacting me. As your representative, I both need and value your perspective. Please sign up for my E-Newsletter at my website, www.house.gov/susandavis, if you would like to receive monthly updates about what is happening in Congress.
With warm regards,
Susan A. Davis
