(Clearwisdom.net) Because of poverty and other reasons, I didn't register at a high school even though I scored pretty well on the entrance exams. Instead, I went to work in the city. One evening in the winter of 1995, a time that I will never forget, I learned Falun Dafa. My whole life changed immediately. After watching videotapes of Master's lecture at Guangzhou, the profound principles of Falun Dafa deeply drew and touched my heart. I then decided: This is the path that I am to take.
During the Chinese Lunar New Year of 1998, some other practitioners and I planned to take the opportunity of visiting relatives back home to introduce Dafa at the county seat. I went home to prepare so that we could get together with other practitioners in a few days at the county seat. Little did I know that I would experience a journey from life to death and death to life on my way to the county seat.
It is usually bone-chilling and windy in my hometown during the winter. Around 5 a.m., I carried Zhuan Falun with me and went to take the bus, the only vehicle that goes to the county seat. Since it was pretty early, it was still not lright. I closed my eyes once I got onto the bus, expecting to arrive at the county seat shortly. Not long after the bus left the station, while I was half asleep, all of a sudden our bus was rolling down down a slope on the left hand side of the road at the top of the mountain. I then lost consciousness. When I finally came to, it was already 3 o'clock in the afternoon.
According to eyewitnesses, one person died on the spot from the accident. I was also mistaken for a corpse and was left at the foot of a dike. The other wounded had been sent to the county hospital for medical treatment. The news of the accident reached my parents, who thought I had died. My mother cried and passed out, while my father choked and sobbed with sorrow. Still, they managed to rush over to the scene. Meanwhile, someone passing by noticed that I was still breathing and had a heartbeat. They immediately stopped a truck and put me on it. They put some straw on the metal bed of the truck and sent me to the county hospital.
The road was bumpy and curvy, and there was no cushion or blanket to protect me in the truck. After suffering from jolts the entire way, with nothing to protect me from the severe cold, I finally reached the hospital. I was bleeding profusely from my mouth, nose and ears. All my clothes were soaked in blood. My face and head were mangled, with blood clots piling up on my face. When I was taken into the hospital, the doctors were shocked as well. They sent me into the emergency operating room right away and put me on an IV. When they cleaned me up, they saw that I was still bleeding. Doctors suspected some extravasated blood was in my brain, and that I might contract a serious disease if the treatment didn't go well, so they suggested to my parents that they transfer me to another hospital.
My father insisted on transferring me, but my brother said: "He has been in a unconscious. We'd better ask what he thinks first when he comes to." While my whole family continued to argue and couldn't reach an agreement, a fellow practitioner that had planned to go to introduce Dafa with me heard about the accident and rushed to the hospital. The practitioner said: "It's up to him to decide on this. If he has faith in Master and Dafa, and follows Dafa, our Master will take care of him. But if you want to transfer him, can any one of you guarantee that he'll not get a serious disease?"
Although I was in a stupor, I said: "I am a Dafa practitioner. I want to read Zhuan Falun. I want to study the Fa and do the exercises." When he heard me, the practitioner rushed over to my bed and called my name, but I turned over and went back into unconscious sleep; I couldn't hear the practitioner's voice at all. Afterwards, I repeated my words over and over while I was unconscious. The practitioner told my little brother: "Your brother's in a coma, and this is just the manifestation in this environment. But the part of him that's been cultivated is clear minded, and that's the part that wants to read the book. So you can go ahead and read Zhuan Falun to him. As long as you can keep reading for him, he doesn't really need to be transferred. I believe in miracles!" My little brother then waited at my side and read the book for me.
When I finally regained consciousness, I found that I was lying in a bed and was hooked up to an IV. I pulled out the needle and asked to go home. My parents didn't agree. My father said: "You were the most severely wounded one on the whole bus. You can't leave the hospital now, you need to wait for a few days and then we will see how things go."
I insisted on leaving the hospital, but my father told me: "All the cost for the hospitalization will be taken care of by the owner of the bus. Once you leave the hospital, if something unexpected happens to you, we will have to pay if you need to be hospitalized again. How could we afford it? On the other hand, it is fair that the bus owner pays for the costs." I told my father: "Please don't worry, there will not be any problem. I have Master taking care of me. So let's go home." My father still didn't agree to go home. With my further insistence, however, he finally agreed, but he still wanted the bus owner to pay for the medication.
At that moment, Master's words echoed in my ears:
"Nowadays, human moral values have been distorted. The driver indeed drove the car too fast, but how could he possibly hit someone on purpose? Didn't he do it unintentionally? But people are like this today." (Zhuan Falun)
I then told my father: "The owner of the bus did not want the bus to roll over. He didn't do it on purpose. This unexpected accident made everyone on the bus go to the hospital, and all the costs will have to be taken care of by the bus owner! Can he bear this? How will he and his family live later on? We should consider the whole thing from the owner's perspective also. I am a practitioner with Master's care, so there will not be any problems." Hearing what I said, my father thought it was reasonable, so he didn't argue with me anymore. Then I left the hospital for home.
Once I was back home, I held faith in Master and the Fa. Every day, I treated myself as a practitioner. I never treated myself as a sick patient, not to mention a severely wounded patient. At first, because I was too weak, I couldn't read the book on my own, so I asked my little brother to read Zhuan Falun for me. My ears were still bleeding in the beginning. However, due to my persistence in doing the exercises and reading the book every day, my ears stopped bleeding, and little by little, my health recovered. I couldn't find words to express my appreciation to Master. When I found myself fully recovered, I could only promise in my mind to Master: "Master, thank you so much! It is you who pulled me back from the brink to death. It is you who gave me a second life. So I will follow your instructions, strive to be a genuine practitioner, and walk well each step on the path that you have arranged for me."
My little brother, who witnessed my entire experience, said with excitement: "Falun Gong is miraculous! I want to learn it, too. Can you teach me right now?" Thus my brother started practicing Falun Gong as well.
Whenever I run into obstacles or some attachment that is hard to let go of, I remind myself: "My life has been given to me by Master. Is there anything that is more valuable than the chance to cultivate in this world? Is there any obstacle that is harder than losing life? Is there anything that I can't let go of? Only if I can do well the three things that a practitioner should do, do I deserve the second life that Master has given me!
