(Clearwisdom.net) The Barcelona Chinese Consulate opens to the public every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Chinese people from Barcelona and other cities come here for their visa or other enquiries. The long queues that stretch down the front of the Chinese Consulate can contain anything from one hundred to five hundred people.

On these days, you can always find western Falun Gong practitioners in front of the Chinese Consulate. They distribute leaflets to the Chinese people who are in the queue and tell them in Chinese: "This is for you. Falun Dafa is good." They also demonstrate the five sets of beautiful and peaceful Falun Gong exercises. These westerners have only recently started to practise Falun Gong. However, through constantly learning and cultivating, they have a deeper and deeper understanding of Falun Gong's principles.

Practicing the Falun Gong exercises and sending forth righteous thoughts in front of the Chinese Consulate

Barcelona is the second largest Chinese community in Spain. The Chinese Consulate is here and it's also a famous sightseeing city, so there are a lot of Chinese tourists. Therefore, the practitioners decided to raise awareness about the persecution against Falun Gong to the Chinese people there on the days when the consulate opens to the public.

At first, many Chinese people did not dare to accept the leaflets distributed by the practitioners. In China, they could easily lose their freedom, home, family or even life for possessing Falun Gong material. What could the practitioners do? They could not speak a lot of Chinese nor directly tell these Chinese people that Falun Gong is good and how the Chinese Communist Party persecutes the peaceful practice.

However, these difficulties didn't obstruct the western practitioners. They soon came up with a good idea: playing audiotapes to the Chinese people who are deceived by lies. With the help of Madrid Chinese practitioners, they played the audiotapes to the people at the Chinese Consulate and the effect was great. Even those who didn't accept the leaflets listened very carefully. Moreover, people who didn't get a leaflet before came back to ask for one.

When the practitioners demonstrated the exercises, the Chinese people looked surprised: Falun Gong, which has been falsely portrayed by the Chinese Communist Party to justify their campaign of persecution against the practice, can be practised freely in overseas countries and is supported by people, governments and NGOs around the world.

A Chinese lady at first said that Falun Gong isn't good and did not accept a leaflet. However, after listening to an audiotape revealing the truth about the self-immolation, which was set up by the Chinese Government and used to turn the public against Falun Gong, she accepted the leaflet and a Video-CD from the western practitioners. She expressed that if it were true, she'd tell all her relatives and friends in China.

A Spanish man went to the Chinese Consulate to get a visa for his trip to China. After seeing the practitioners' poster display he was astonished. He told the practitioners that he has lots of Chinese friends in Shanghai and he will tell his friends the truth about Falun Gong. This gentleman left his email address in the hope the practitioners can email him information to send to his Chinese friends.

Since last July, no matter how hot or cold it is, in the wind and rain, these new western practitioners insist on raising awareness at the Chinese Consulate. Through their pure and compassionate hearts, the environment has undergone great changes. The practitioners said, "The staff in the Chinese Consulate came out and shouted at us to try to make us leave. They instructed the garden workers to turn on the automatic watering system to drench us when we did the meditation, but we weren't angry. We peacefully told them the truth. At first they didn't listen nor accept the materials and their attitude was very bad. However, they are changing now. Upon seeing us, they no long get angry or furious and some of them even nod to us to show acknowledgement. Although due to all sorts of reasons they still will not accept the truth materials, now they are slowly changing."

The practitioners stated, "No matter how long it takes for the Chinese communist Party to stop their persecution, we will never stop our activities to raise awareness and let people know that Falun Gong is good."
