A Suggestion to Chinese Media: Report the Scandals Occurring in China, Not Just Those in Other Countries

The Chinese media has widely reported on the abuse of Iraqi war prisoners by American soldiers. President Bush has apologized for the scandal and many US newspapers have published pictures of the abuse. Those directly responsible will be tried in US military courts.

At the United Nations Conference on Human Rights in Geneva not long ago, countries that uphold justice, with America at the forefront, condemned the worsening human rights situation in China. In response, Chinese representative Sha Zukang said accusingly to the American representative, "The US should look into the mirror."

Yet the whole world can see in the case of the abuse of Iraqi war prisoners, the American government is looking in the mirror, and has acted to correct its mistakes immediately.

Here we politely suggest that the Chinese government do the same as they asked the US to do: take a look at itself in the mirror. Does the Chinese government dare to? Will they report their own scandals? Or simply report those of others?

The most shocking scandal in China is the Jiang group's brutal persecution of Falun Gong! Jiang Zemin and Luo Gan and their followers are persecuting kind people that cultivate "Truthfulness, Benevolence and Forbearance," the best people in the society. Their regime has employed inhumane tortures to persecute practitioners. Nearly a thousand Falun Gong practitioners have been confirmed dead as a result of the persecution! How does the Chinese government act?

All the major US newspapers published pictures of the US soldiers' abuse of the Iraqi prisoners. Does Jiang's group dare to publish in Chinese newspapers the bloody pictures of Falun Gong practitioners who have been tortured? During the nearly five years of this persecution, some western reporters have taken pictures of Chinese policemen cruelly persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. They have been arrested and had their film confiscated. This kind of thing happens all the time!

The Chinese media are quick to report on foreign countries' scandals, especially those in the US. We hope that the Chinese media will also report on Jiang's political gang's scandals, and expose their monstrous crimes to the whole world! This is also a chance for the Chinese media to redeem itself for some of the sins they have committed during the suppression of Falun Gong.
