Facts of Persecution

Zhao Xiaoli, also named Zhao Xueli, is a 32-year-old female Dafa practitioner from Xinxiang City, Henan Province. Before the 2004 Chinese New Year, Zhao Xiaoli and her aunt Zhao Suzhen left home to distribute truth clarification materials and were reported to police. They were held at the Xinxiang County Detention Center and released several days later. The women were again arrested on March 8, 2004 by persecutors from the Xinxiang County Police Department and were unlawfully sentenced to three years of forced labor, then sent to the Shibalihe Forced Labor Camp. Prior to this detention, Zhao Xiaoli was detained at Xinxiang City's Detention Center for more than one year, and Zhao Suzhen was held at the Shibalihe Forced Labor Camp for two years. Her sentence was later extended by eight months, and she was forced to leave home soon after her release to avoid further persecution.

Dafa practitioners Zhang Peng, Yu Yingzhang, and her son from Zao Village, Shandong Province were abducted and held for more than 20 days. Zhang Peng's father repeatedly told Di Hao, head of Zhong District "610 Office" that Zhang Peng had just recovered from a nervous breakdown from a previous round of persecution, and he pleaded with Di Hao to release his son. Di Hao's answer was, "I don't believe Zhang Peng had a nervous breakdown. If he is mentally ill, why doesn't he commit robbery, murder or rape instead of distributing Falun Gong flyers?" However, recently the guards said since Zhang Peng has nerve problems, he cannot be granted parole and must be sent to a mental hospital.

Dafa practitioner Pei Jicheng from Gongan County, Jingzhou City, Hubei Province was detained twice for persisting in his belief in Dafa and was savagely tortured. His mother Xie Chengzhen, a non-practitioner, told people the truth about the persecution, and as a result, local police officers arrested her on the evening of February 12, 2004 and ransacked her home.
