The weather was fine and sunny. The practitioners set up a table for collecting petition signatures and some poster boards revealing how Falun Gong practitioners are being tortured in China. They demonstrated the Falun Gong exercises. People could see that the exercises are very peaceful and starkly contrast with the abuses that people who practice these exercises in China are subject to.

Soon many passersby were attracted by the poster boards. The practitioners explained to them that these torture methods are really being used in China to force Falun Gong practitioners to give up their belief. They include horrifying abuse such as shocking with electric batons, by far the most common torture used by the Chinese police against Falun Gong practitioners. Practitioners have been shocked with as many as a dozen batons at a time, with voltages as high as 30,000 volts, often for several hours. Countless practitioners have suffered flesh burns, some having ears, hands, or feet charred from the electric shocks. Large numbers of people in Huddersfield came to sign their names on a petition calling for the instigator of this persecution, former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin, to be brought to justice in a court of law for his crimes.

At this time, a practitioner went to ask her that if she would like take some leaflets for her friends. She said, "No, I'll distribute the leaflets here." She distributed the leaflets nearby. She constantly talked to the pedestrians about the truth of Falun Gong practitioners being persecuted and asked them to sign their names on the petition forms. As a result of listening to her, a lot of people came to sign their names. Soon, there was a long queue in front of our petition table. That English girl stayed with us for a long time.

In addition, a student in Huddersfield who just read the main text of Falun Dafa, Zhuan Falun, for the first time rushed to the activity in the afternoon. He also actively and positively talked about the persecution to passersby. Many Chinese people in Huddersfield were glad to find out the truth about Falun Gong.
